assuming a shared or single development platform, how many titles do you guys think we could see from Nintendo each year? 10? 15? 20?

With the rumored form factor, you have to consider it's also the 3DS's successor. I know the handheld market is a shrinking one, but with around 60m 3DS out there you have a pretty respectable number.

Of course, I'm not saying the NX will sell as much as the 3DS, as it depends on a lot of currently unknown factors. But I think it could aim to a similar number considering the handheld demand in Japan, the fact that a Vita successor is pretty unlikely, and that it doubles as a home console. And that could be a far bigger objective than what the XOne is currently achieving.

While I'm not expecting the new RDR on NX, it has to be considered at least a "remote possibility". Rockstar have published games on every piece of Nintendo hardware except 3DS and Wii U, during whose life cycles they have released a grand total of one game. There's no reason to believe the game wouldn't be technically capable of running on NX, and Rockstar had some degree of prior success with the GTA Stories games, showing there is some degree of interest in Rockstar-style games on a handheld (in this case with the benefit of being able to cheaply port an existing game, rather than building a new one from near scratch as on PSP). Finally, with a change in management at Nintendo (particularly with Kimishima having spent a large portion of his career in the US), it's possible that they may now be willing to throw a bit of money at publishers like Rockstar to ensure support.
 
Maybe Nintendo can't even announce NX today/tomorrow because the Pokémon Sun and Moon demo releases today.

It's a great game but he said he wanted genre variety in terms of single-player games. It felt like a lot of the Wii U games that weren't multiplayer focused were platformers.

Tbh, for me personally I feel like the Wii U just hit me in a bad time in terms of multiplayer games. I usually love multiplayer games but it hasn't really been easy for me to consistently play a game online recently due to college stuff, and my social life sucks now so I can't really play Mario Kart with friends regularly like I used to. There's also the fact that I got into competitive Melee which kind of invalidated Smash 4 past the first few weeks to me, especially since I didn't have any friends to play goofy FFAs with anyways. Had I had more time/incentive/ability to play games online regularly I probably would have dumped a ridiculous amount of time into Splatoon.

I still maintain that the Gamecube is probably better for local multiplayer anyways though :P. Better Smash, better Mario Parties, stuff like Super Monkey Ball 2, F-Zero GX, TimeSplitters, FFCC, and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy.

My fear is that between the Overwatch Halloween update and a particularly cryptic tweet from the Angry Birds team that October is already #Octover for Nintendo.

Can't catch a break, man. :/

Its still a game tho. Even as popular as Rock star is there game won't overshadow a new system that people have been thirsty for a long fucking time.

You say people are thirsty for Red Dead 2 but the thirst for NX has pretty much reached the heavens. I mean when you have people snap when Zelda Williams didn't even mention NX on twitter you know there is a lot of thirst.

Fuck go to the subreddit for NX. You literally have people going insane with comments going beyond human interpretation. I seriously could make a psychological essay over this shit and get a A+.

They'll unveil it in January. I don't see what gain they'd have to make an announcement this year. It might get drowned out by all the big releases of the year. May as well wait until the gaming industry goes into slumber (i.e January), then smack everyone in the face with a big announcement. Then smack everyone in the face again by releasing it in March.

I'm fairly certain he was making fun of the increasingly bizarre justifications of why NX can't be revealed any given week.

Speaking of which, there's probably no way the NX Direct is thursday, the made-for-tv remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show premiers that night and would clearly take too much attention away from Nintendo.

Whoops, didn't mean to say tomorrow, just that NoA will probably be the first to make the announcement at their usual time.
 
Just checked on the NX subreddit.

Yeah they've gone insane.....

Worse then the last time I checked.

Edit: For there sake I hope Nintendo announces the NX this week.

I don't expect NoA to shoot first unless they have a Mega64 NX Announcement video.

That or saying they'll have a Treehouse presentation with the reveal.
 
A couple of things I've noticed...

MyNintendoNews hasn't covered any of Emily's tweets and they always do. So, that's a little weird.

Also, NoA put out a YouTube video not to long ago to announce promote the Pokémon S/M demo. This is a good sign for the NX announcement tomorrow since they promoted the demo today.

Hmm good points. The stars are aligning. I truly feel like we will hear something this week, even if it's not the full reveal. It's just... time.

The hype. I'm trying to concentrate in other things and ignoring the crazy speculation threads for a while. But man...

Also, according to Emily last twitter, NX info and impressions would come this week together. The other major event mentioned is just the shareholders meeting(even though I like).
