Miyamoto: We're always challenging ourselves to create something new, so hopefully you'll see a new kind of Mario in about a year or two. Maybe next E3 we'll be able to share something.

Maybe a SideScroller mario for launch...


Maybe the next mario would also be a more kind of sandbox game (more like mario 64 but with physics like zelda botw).
 
My list of predictions

Hardware - Device is basically what Eurogamer said. There will be a stand alone controller for playing games when in dock/TV mode.

Smash Bros - Inklings, Ice Climbers, Shovel Knight & a couple of others (Yooka Laylee?) possibly included. Wii U and 3DS stages available. GameCube controller adapter can work with the dock.

Zelda: BotW - Looks pretty much the same as the Wii U version....but will still be an awesome game.

Pokemon Sun & Moon HD - They may hold off on announcing this until after it launches on 3DS and to give a further momentum boost closer to launch.

Splatoon remaster with confirmation of a sequel.

Mario platformer won't be revealed until E3.

Lots of mobile games and apps available. You'll be able to play Super Mario Run on it if you choose.

Another day good for reveal of the reveal...will wait with hope, but i'm sure i'll see the day ending without any NX word from Nintendo
 
I'll feel so empty when NX will be reveal, no more rumors and speculation, i think we should all enjoy these moments while we can
 
Does anyone else feel like all these people became "reliable" just because they spammed the NX hashtag to bait b-tier game journalists which then got picked up by the a-tier and then got picked up by Neogaf creating a water wheel of feces?
 
Man I'm going to be at a con this weekend. If this thing is truly being revealed this week then I'm gonna have a lot of stuff to talk about with my friends. I want to believe.
 
So I slept on it and I woke up feeling less hyped when I found out nothing happened overnight.

Too many Nintendo twitter sphere people just tweeting stuff like "Oh yes I have also 'heard rumblings' that there may be NX news this week but also may not" Like, yeah, if by rumblings you mean you read the same tweets we did.

Either go for it, and say you know for sure stuff is happening or shut up, all this bandwagoning vagueness is annoying.
 
I'm scared of getting disappointed with the reveal. I don't want to be hyped for something I may not like in the end.

Do you guys feel the same?

It is a new Nintendo hardware which will have Nintendo games and some other ones. That's enough for me to be satisfied.
 
Well here's to hoping I wake up to announcement of an announcement lol.

Guessing: hybrid rumors are true; 720p screen; dock is at least mostly dumb but has USB ports, Ethernet port, HDMI port, etc.; cartridges; powerful enough to scale most PS4/XBOne games to 720p fairly well and has good engine support; Nintendo will show at least one big new first party title other than BotW, guessing a holiday 2017 3D Mario is teased; BG&E2 is at least on NX; in general western support is tepid, but not non-existent--titles with historical success on Wii/Wii U and titles that are just but everywhere somewhat reasonable; Japanese support will be less than we hope for, but fairly decent--niche PS ecosystem games will mostly stay PS ecosystem or PS/PC, some of the bigger titles that could feasibly come to the platform won't but others will, remaining 3DS support will mostly carry over.

I'm just hoping for sequels to all my favorite games and new IPs that are better than all my favorite games and then also sequels to those new IPs. C'mon Nintendo it's the least you can do.

edit:The renaming of this thread is very close to a NXST

All I want is a slightly updated smash bros. I feel like that is fairly likely at this point and is hardly asking a lot. Beyond that there are things I'd like but won't be upset if I don't get them.
 
I'm really curious to see where this thing falls on the Wii U <--> Xbone spectrum of power. What would 3-4x Wii U look like? Finally we'll see.

Cue reveal with no gameplay footage of any games.
 
Most of the times a Direct announcement comes first from NoE (rarely NST), so I don't know why people would expect one from NoA in the past hours. And that announcement happens usually between 4 and 6 hours from now (at 14:00, 15:00 or 16:00 CET). So hold your horses.

We don't even know it will be today. Emily only said something about this week.

Knowing Nintendo we might not get any kind of hint regarding the power of NX during the reveal.

Why would them releasing a demo have any bearing on whether they are going to reveal a console or at least the date for which they will formally announce it?

It's not how Nintendo rolls. I hope I'm wrong and I would hope they announce it in about 4-6 hours.

Yeah, I don't think they'll talk about hardware specs. In fact, they still haven't fully revealed publicly the Wii U specs.
 
I don't expect a system with a power similar to XboxOne/PS4, I expect something with lower power, but I don't care much about that. What worries me is getting a system very underpowered, like something not in the middle between Wii U and Xone, but even lower power. That would mean not much third party support because of the low power, like with Wii U.

I'm also worried of announcing another console with another weird controller.

But what worries my most, is announcing many-many games I don't like. I wouldn't like to see games like Amiibo Festival, Federation Force, Mario Party, Starfox Zero, NX Party, and other stuff like that. I'd rather see a great 3D Mario, a new traditional Metroid, a real Animal Crossing,... At least we are getting a Zelda game that looks awesome, but I need an excuse to play it on the NX instead of my Wii U. One single game is not enough reason for me to buy it.

I didn't sleep well last night because I am nervous of the reveal. But I don't want to feel like I had a lack of sleep for nothing.

Damm it Ninty!! Reveal it now!!

I'm not expecting specific hardware numbers and details, more importantly I'm excited to see what the NX can actually put on screen. We've heard rumors about 2x Wii U, 3-4x, "can handle ports from Xbone/PS4 no problem", "good for a handheld disappointing for a console" etc. Finally we can see it in more practical terms being game footage.
