!!!
This is intriguing. Very intriguing.
I called it! I said NX would be multiple devices and this hybrid would just be the first coming.
As o said it before I expect
NX Hybrid (6inch Portable and docking station, detachable controller, 128GB SD Card, Dock has USB port for external HDD)
$300 - March 2017
NX Console (Micro Sized Console, Normal Controller, 500GB internal HDD, console has USB port for external HDD
$200 - Fall 2017
NX Handheld (5 inch Portable, Slide out controller not detachable, 128GB SD Card, option to buy a seperate controller and Dock for TV play)
$200 - Q3 2018
Erm, we knew all along it was multiple devices based on Iwata's interviews, but some here continued to dismiss it for an odd reason only wanting one device.
Also, she didn't say which one is coming first, the console or the handheld.
I don't understand any of this, really. People keep stating the obvious and be surprised by it. It was stated all the way back in 2013.
They are swimming in cash and all games they have made have sold really really well. I really don't see the problem with a NX port of it only does 1 million worldwide

I do like the Nintendo Eco System (NES) name.
Weird that NoA still hasn't made one tweet today yet, not even about the Pokémon demo being out.
So do I, but with the NES Mini in stores around Christmas, the last thing Nintendo wants is another name confusion fiasco.
If we go by NXGaf logic it means pokemon sun and moon is delayed.Something came up.
Well it's not like I could actually participate in this thread, it be cheating!
Do people think announcement is tomorrow? Why?

NoA's internet link has been intentionally severed by a state party. We have activated the appropriate contingency plans
lmaoSeems some bigger issue arised: NoA's internet link has been intentionally severed by a state party. We have activated the appropriate contingency plans

This would confuse all the potential buyers, IMO.
Those iPad and iPhones sure did fail hard. And would suck, it just screams failure to me.
I hated that the WiiU needed the tablet controller to turn on. Mine would always be dead and I would have to wait to play on my TV. This sounds no different.
Everybody had different use cases for things. If you're Nintendo you're trying to make a device that can satisfy as many of them as possible. I think Nitnendo is willing to sacrifice the limited number of people who won't consider buying a hybrid for whatever reason, and try to attract the much larger group of people that have no use for something that they can only interact with in front of their TV. I think your concern about the dormant tablet under someone's television is a bit overwrought. The problem with the console market in general is that it's shrinking and appealing to the narrower market over time. That needs to be addressed if the dedicating gaming market is to continue thriving, and Nintendo has to try something new to preserve their own stake in the market writ large.
It means a PS4 or Xbox One clone in specs or that power won't be the reason AAA multiplats skip NX.What do you mean by "appeases console only gamers" out of curiousity?
If you release the more powerful one first then the handheld won't be able to run the game natively and you'd need to work on ports with the system's library starting at 0. If you start with a weaker one you can run the games natively on more powerful hardware like PS4->Pro.The thing I don't understand about the possibility of a family of devices is : if there is a home console in the works, why the hell release the handheld/hybrid first while the Wii U is clearly dead and the 3DS has still games planned ?
Why not release the console first ? To build up an install base for the new NX ecosystem and then it will be easier to launch the console ?

This is seriously not a good idea, guys.
They'll announce it when they feel like it. If it even happens this week.
EDIT: What? https://twitter.com/wonderhavoc/status/788184873999532033
NES Mini is part of the "Classics" line. That might be enough to separate the two.

Told y'all.!!!

Boy am I glad you don't work at Nintendo. What a mess. And you're going to lock out people buying the console from the dual motion controllers? What do they need to purchase those separately?

If you're Nintendo and wanting to satisfy everyone, then you'll need to release devices that will cater for everyone, not just one device that is basically a handheld that can be played on TV. That is limiting imo. Having the same games and architecture on all their devices is the way to go.
Also I don't believe the console market is shrinking at all. The sales of the PS4s and Xbox Ones are still going strong.
I'd like to add that I don't just want another third party console. I'm also after Nintendo's innovation and what they might bring next to the table, and the hybrid part doesn't fall under that for me.
Console is first since WiiU is deader than 3DSIf there are multiple devices releasing in the future I just hope they make it clear from the first reveal so people won't feel screwed over if a console only NX comes out in the future.
I personally don't think there will be motion at all
My guess is that Nintendo hedges their bets with not only Mario iOS. But some other big seller like Wii Fit iOS next year. I also think Nintendo develops and releases the "Official" controller for iOS. By Xmas 2017 you will be able to play on Apple TV, iPad, and iPhone with a controller.
Except every rumor confirms that there will be. The two detachable controllers act as motion controllers, kinda like WiiMote and Nunchuck.
Emily Rogers said:@ArcadeGirl64 I should clarify. You should only expect what is written in my pinned blog post. Don't expect a super powerful x86 console.
Not that I agree with this idea, I'm pretty sure the Wii Motion+ controllers will pretty much be the same thing as any detachable controller fragment. Except the Wii Motion+ will probably have a better form factor and more buttons.
To play NX games? If so, what is the point of NX existing?
This is wrong. It can probably output 4k netflix and some games will probably be 1080p.it's handheld first. 720p max output resolution. weaker than xbone.
and no red dead.
This whole thing is hysterical and we only have ourselves to blame... There was only one official remark regarding the NX being presented this year, in the fall.
Everything else is pure speculation based on pseudo-insiders and twitter users who like to make stuff up for their 15 minutes of fame (at least most of them)...
AMD crowd wetting itself.
So close now,so damn close
Yes, but suggesting that only a "standard controller" would be bundled with the console is rubbish. Why not bundle the two detachable controllers with a plastic center-thing to make them act as a regular controller instead?
To play iOS games. NX will be a separate entity...for now.
If a Direct is on Friday...
I guess we'll know by tomorrow?
