The NX Prediction / BSpeculation / Fanxiety Thread

If they're released separately (big if), I'm almost certain the console is coming first. Wii U has nothing left besides Zelda and that is cross-gen. 3DS is winding down but still has a handful games of left such as the Dragon Quests and Pokemon, and a few more could be made cheaply as a stopgap. Plus the 3DS has no real competition in its dedicated handheld space.

Lets say i follow you, the nx is a console. After a few years ps5 and new xbox is released. What will happen with the nx support? Almost no 3rd party support. It's getting way too expensive to make games for one console or to downgrade the games. This happened for wii and wiiu. 3ds is still not bad, but the games aren't also that expensive.

Dope thanks. So if they could reach 1TF, it would basically be 2TF with double precision. How accurate is that? Is the performance actually as if it's doubling performance?
It depends on the game and what it requires but ud neversee 2tf performance not even close. No game will soley operate on fp16 data.

What is the most anticipated thing you want to see in the reveal:

1. Launch Games
2. 1st and 3rd Parties Support
3. Hardware Specs
4. Console Name
5. Hybrid Rumor
6. Price & Versions
7. Other

1, 2, 5, and 7 (games between April 2017 and Holiday 2017)

3D Mario, 2D Mario, 3D Metroid, 2D Metroid, Animal Crossing, Retro game, F-Zero, Bayonetta 3, Monolith game, Shin Megami Tensei V,... (We already have Zelda)

And something that would make me go crazy, would be the announcement of a Futurama + Metroid crossover. I know it will never happen, but if it does,... OMG!! OMFG!!

The chances of it are slim to none, but imagine if they had a real metroid game at the reveal. Not some federation force spin off crap, but either metroid prime 4, or a Fusion sequel.

I mean...it's not impossible. Retro Studios's new game has been in the oven for nearly 3 full years now. If that new game is Metroid, it could very well be unveiled along with the console.

Now I kind of doubt they are making a new Metroid, but it's not exactly fan-dream tier.

Honestly, the only thing I care about are games and final design. I feel like we mostly know what it is, but I really hate concept art to the extent that even if credible I mostly just ignore it.

I think it would be quite smart to launch with one game that doesn't have mainstream appeal, but appeals to the more dedicated Nintendo fans first and foremost to illustrate that NX also has things in store for them. Metroid would fit the bill. So would F-Zero.
It's not THAT unlikely I would say.

I'm excited for the release of Donk

The Samurai Duck? First time I hear about that game, I had to google it. At the beginning I thought you were talking about Lonk from Pennsylvania, but you wrote the initial character wrong by mistake.

I need to go to sleep now. It's getting very late, and I'm already thinking about weird stuff. I hope not to have insomnia like last night.

So my friend that I'm picking up from work walked out the backdoor of his job whistling the Mario theme. I asked him why he's whistling that as he stepped into my car WHILE I was reading this very thread and he said "I don't know, I felt like it."

One of his nicknames is Mr. Coincidence. Guys, it has to be happening soon.

to me it's release date and price

on all other fronts, I trust nintendo, even the WiiU is a nice piece of hardware even if unappealing.

I want too know what is cheaper and sooner to play Zelda., WiiU vs NX

Where da fuck is it

Where

giphy.gif

Portable HD Wave Race
Portable HD Metroid

It's amazing those titles could be, while on a portable, 2 gens away from their last versions.

Hopefully Pikmin 3 was a good omen for franchises of yore

Or just portable F-Zero GX if the NX has GC Virtual Console and it's comptaible with the portable part.

I think i'm more excited about the idea of being able to play Gamecube games on a handheld, than actual NX games

I'd be very okay with that. Even if new ones come out, at least you know the GC games were awesome

Guys, I just read a twitter account saying Kimishima is taking breakfast right this very second and that he is texting Miyamoto

what could that possibly mean?

The games. l want to see what they look like and what kind of experiences they'll propose. Honestly my biggest concern is them revealing the system but saying nothing about the games and ending the presentation with something like "we'll be discussing our launch lineup next year. Bye nerds!".

They're discussing the title for Miyamoto's new platformer. The Miyamoto platformer... It's Miyamoto... platforming.

Diddy Kong Racing and of course Beyond Good & Evil. DKR was heavily rumored almost three years ago and was probably moved to NX.

Right, sure.

But even if we combine *every single rumored game together* and assume they're all true - we've only seen footage of 3 of them, and none of their NX versions (or if they have NX exclusive features/look better on nx).

Game trailers will undoubtedly be the most exciting thing about the nx reveal, for me anyway.

A while ago I would have agreed with you, but the more I read into the matter, the more it seems that the bulk of shader code can operate at 16 bit precision without issue. Unreal Engine 4, for example, runs all pixel shaders at half precision on mobile, which constitutes the considerably majority of most games shader workloads.
