A Kiev 88 from 83. The soviet replica of Hasselblad. The full frame (6x6cm) visor is gorgous (even if reversed) and the scope for manuel focus is the most precise thing I've ever seen... It has a film to be developped before... october 89 with it :lol
tino said:The Sony EVIL (I know its not an EVIL without the viewfinder, but I like to call it anyway) is a really early prototype. There is not even mount design. They just put up a small brick with some cylindrical things with glasses on both ends. This is as early an announcement as Samsung from last year, when they didn't even bother to put up a brick, just announced it in an interview.
IMO, there is only one explanation Sony announces the platform so early, they know someone else is make EVIL cameras. Since Canon stands to loss more market in the premium point-and-shoot arena, the only logical brand would be Nikon. I hope its really 2.5X like the rumor say.
Forsete said:The EVIL (I like it too ) will be available this year according to Sony. So while the mock up indeed looks early the development is far along.
Sony Europe has put up a teaser video for the new cameras. The design seems final (perhaps minor adjustments).

Ultra-compact new α camera with interchangeable lenses in development for launch 2010
$300?? Is that NZ dollars? I bought my Spyder2 for $100 or so. Did you buy the Spyder2 Pro?mrkgoo said:I'm considering upgrading my Spyder2 to a Spyder3express. I don't know why, seeing as I'm not particularly happy with my Spyder2 (it did cost me close to $300), but the Spyder3 is actually pretty inexpensive.

Futureman said:Rumor is the Canon 1Ds Mark IV will be announced tomorrow.
Canonrumors, which rates rumors based on a 1, 2, or 3 (1 being a new source, 3 being a past source which is right 95% of the time), has a CR3 tip that the 1Ds IV is being tested at the Olympics and will be announced before the end of February.
They have a CR2 that says it will be 32MP.
Forsete said:Yes. Sony recently extended the partnership with Ziess and Sony has said Ziess will support both the regular Alpha-line and the new compact cameras. I hope they have à few of those ready for launch day.

Oh man, Sigma is known for their bokeh in their high end primes. I expect great things from that 85.Thraktor said:Sigma just announced five new (and upgraded) lenses at PMA:
8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM (New)
17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM (Added optical stabilization and 1mm wider)
50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM (Added optical stabilization)
70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM (Added optical stabilization)
85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM (New)
Prices don't seem to have been announced yet, but I may well be tempted by the 17-50mm F2.8 OS if it's sufficiently cheaper than Canon's 17-55mm F2.8 IS and is at least reasonably sharp.

like this?tino said:And I can use all my Pentax and Nikon MF lenses on it.
The coolest thing about the EP-2, all of the micro 4:3rds cameras for that matter, is the short distance between the lens flange and the sensor. You can, with the right adapter ring, put just about any lens you can think of on these cameras. There's a growing cult of Leica enthusiasts who are putting M series lenses on their camera and shooting amazing stuff.

500mm F4 G and the Zeiss 24 F2
xtheEnemy said:damn.. I don't even want to wonder how much those 2 cost!
Although I really want a Zeiss on my Nikon though.
Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of a smaller body, as the lenses still have to be large enough to cover the full sensor. This is one of the biggest benefits of m4/3rds the lenses dont have to be as large sense the sensor is smaller.Forsete said:Apparently the new Sony mount for the compact/EVIL should be able to handle full frame sensors *drool*

Zyzyxxz said:seems like Sigma is gonna jump into the compact, large sensor, interchangeable lens sector also.
No word whether it will be a Micro 4/3 but they are gonna make lenses for M 4/3 so I would assume their new compact camera would use a 4/3 mount.
They may run into a problem though if in the sony cameras the lenses are designed with the sensor further away. This is the reason why you have to use an adapter ring for 4/3rd lenses on m4/3rds. The flange is closer on m4/3rds than it is on 4/3rds.Forsete said:Look at the Leica cameras that are 35mm, there are plenty of smaller lenses avalible for them. So I dont think that will be a problem.
If they eventually release a FF version they will have to have both types of lenses, like they do now. Sony offers APS only lenses (DT lenses) as well as those which are for both.
its not theoretical since smaller image circle = less glass. The Olympus 50-200 f2.8 is lighter than pretty much all of the competitors equivalents.tino said:Not true, look up the Contax G2 system. The m4/3 lenses are small is largely a theoretical argument since Olympus doesn't like to make pancakes.

The people on Fred Miranda rave about this lens, saying it rivals the Canon 85mm L. Only $250! Probably my next lens.
Apparently they are also making a 35mm 1.2 for Canon mount. That sounds sexy as hell.
That's a pretty good deal. The body + kit lens + spare battery alone usually would cost around $720.Lorr said:I think I finally settled on getting the Nikon D5000 this week as my first DSLR, and was wondering if this was a good deal?

I was between that and the Pentax-Kx bundle, but decided on Nikon because I hear of greater lens availability, which I'd like to start building a collection of eventually.
I'd be using it as practice, and for classes and designs.
Also, should I bother with a warranty? Anything else I should know?

Have recently just jumped into the DSLR world, picked up a Canon 500D/T1i and it's mighty impressive.
Have got the kit 18-55 IS lens, am interested in picking up a dedicated wide angle lens for landscape shots. Any recommendations? Still learning so budget would probably be somewhere around £200 max.
Thanks GAF

God DAMN! I can say, from experience sadly, that video quality is MUCH better than the 500/T1i's. Can't really see any Jello effect, which the older model suffers a little. Also, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but the 500/T1i's video aliases and shimmers a lot. Even at 720p. So mad I didn't wait a couple of months. Anyone interested in a used T1i? It's literally taken less than 100 shots.Zyzyxxz said:Some guy got his hands on a pre-production model Canon T2i (550D) and shot a movie with it.

Looks pretty nice, the night scenes are filmed at 1600 ISO, seems like it will have similar high ISO performance like the 7D. Damn I'm getting pretty interested.
Is the kit lens worth having btw? I can see myself getting something better in the long run or get it with the kit lens and then sell it off.
