The Official DEVIL MAY CRY 3 Thread.

"Let's start the party!!!"

Watch the Game Intro!

The game’s out in three days, so I figured (rightly, I hope) that an official thread was in order. Post here when you get the game – you are getting the game on Tuesday, right? – and let us know what you’ve got to say about DMC3. Impressions, questions, secrets and tips, praise and adulation, damning testimonials: whatever floats your sick little boat. Anything’s better than the freakin' sounds of silence.

Me? I am so getting this game on Tuesday, and nothing – and I mean nothing – is gonna stop me. I haven’t bought a new game since November (Maximo vs Zin), and as a result I’ve got a lot of pent-up tension and “gamer juice” just screaming for release all over a brand-spanking new game.

Dante’d better wear a poncho, cuz it’s gonna be messy. :D

Here’s a couple of relevant links for you poor, deluded fools who’ve been ignoring DMC3 up until now:

So was it ever confirmed if those rumors of the US version having new playable characters was true? If Lady is playable i'll really think about picking up the US version.

Scar across the nose; SO BADASS WOW.

Anyway I'll be all over this game like something that gets all over something.

You know, importing the Japanese version from Play-Asia will cost me exactly the same as buying the North American one from Future Shop. Now it's only a choice of renting versus buying.

I'll buy it when Mr Bob endorses it. :)

Seriously, does anyone who loves Ninja Gaiden think that DMC3 comes close to it? Also, aside from the save/difficulty issue, are there any other differences between the NA and JP versions?

I was wondering where that chick came from :D Thanks

I'm wondering about the difficulty.

I don't consider myself a weaksauce gamer but my reflexes are definitely a wee bit slow.

I found Ninja Gaiden to be managable though I only played till Chapter 12 before I got sick of the game. It was a tough game but nothing too bad once I figured out the technique for the inidividual enemies and bosses.

I'm kinda bummed Lady is not playable. Love her char design.
Can't wait to try this with 2 players though... so awesome they included that. Gonna be an excrutiating wait until March 25th (PAL).

2 PLAYERS???

Why have I heard nothing of this? Detail plz :D.

I'm grabbing the first copy right out of our shipping box on Tuesday/Wednesday and sending another one to my financially struggling brother in college who can't afford the return of the Stylish Action Jesus.

I won't go into detail as it's likely a spoiler, but yeah, 2 people can play at the same time. It's not a "true" 2 player mode, but almost as good.

yeah, pick doppleganger style and plug in a second controller. player 2 gets to control the double.

I love Ninja Gaiden and think it's currently the best action game there is. DMC3 is very very close, almost equal. DMC3 is less 'epic' and shorter, but DMC3 bosses > NG bosses. Combat in both are excellent.

YEah, im going to buy this today. Just like confirmation is its as great as Ninja Gaiden from Bob.

Last thing i want is to buy it and then see Gamespot give it a 8.0.

Does a score mean that much to you? I would buy this game if Gamespot gave it a 0, cause in my book its a 10, and thats all that really matters to me(or you)..... RIGHT? :)

I've played as much of the import as time would allow, and I love it. Difficulty (for bosses) is high but managable. Rarely frustrating, I always feel like I'm making progress or have other tactics to try.

Thanks a lot, man. I respect your opinion, so the praise for DMC3 means a lot coming from you.

Damn, the game simply cannot arrive soon enough.

I was reading up on the game on the gamefaqs boards and it sounds awesome. Nevan sounds like a totally insane weapon. I absolutely love metal (as in the music genre) so I can forsee myself using Nevan throughout the entire game the moment I obtain it. Agni and Rudra sounds great as well. Oh man, DMC3 is going to be THE game for me.

BTW, I thought DMC = ZOE2 >>>>> NG.

I expect it to be DMC3 > DMC = ZOE2 >>>>> NG

Would be great if there could be a DMC thread without the damn Ninja Gaiden comparisons. Seriously.

I dunno, people just want to know how a new action game stacks up to the current king of action games this gen. It's not like anyone is saying either one sucks, there can be more than one excellent action game per generation.

I'm interested, but I've still got too many games in my backlog (including MGS3 and RE4) to catch up before I can consider playing this. Plus, by that time, I'll be able to see whether this or God of War ends up being the better buy....

Yep, Lady is a fine creation, she has surprisingly realistic brunette hotness going on. While waiting to hear from reviews as to how DMC3 overall turned out, she certainly helped keep interest alive in the game as soon as the first renders were released.

Still, I have too much backlog as is, so I'm giving it a couple months. My DMC1 is rarely left sitting for long anyway, and the game hasn't gotten old.

So what's the official story on the Japanese and USA version differences?

Difficulty changes obviously, not sure if there's anything else. Japanese hard mode = English normal mode

*cough*

So, uh... today's the day. Any takers? Or has all the b*tching about the game's difficulty and save system scared just about everyone else away? I'm gonna make a few calls this afternoon, see if any of the local stores actually got it today. If not, then I'm probably going to wait until Sunday to pick it up at CC.

EDIT: And what are the odds of a sticky, here?

Is that an FMV scene from DMC3? If so, then hot damn. That's amazing.

There's no CG in DMC as far as I remember. That rain scene with Virgil that some thought was FMV turned out to be real time. The rain effects are really top notch.

I really don't get the complaints about the games difficulty. It really didn't bother me anymore than NG.

i'm hoping fry's will run a deal on it. if not i'll pick it up at circuit city next week. it's odd how i've gone from total intolerance of 3d action games to enthusiasm for them. with all the favorable comparisons to zoe 2 and ninja gaiden, i'm really excited about this.

Someone want to tell me what that song is in the end of the Gamespot review? It sounds familure to me.

I might just have to get this game this week. Just like my NG impulse buy this is looking more and more like fun to me. Need to tell myself i need to rent this one first. But who knows, damn you capcom.

Is it some goth song? If so get ready to hear it through the majority of the game.
