I really like the game but I hate the enemies level scaling. whats up with that ! I though they said it wouldnt be in the game!

If they scale, I haven't noticed it. The enemies are way easier now then when I started out. Even super mutants aren't much trouble.

Does anyone know how to turn off messaging on the PSN for the PS3 version of the game? That little second-long freeze up has killed me one too many times at this point...

Well I had no problem killing super mutant at level 4, and now that im level 11, i still spend the same ammount of bullet for them. Even the scorpions are still hard to kill ffs.

Seriously love the game, have been playing it WHENEVER I have the free-time. 20 Hours atleast into it and not even mid-way into the Main quest.

Let me ask those that have come across Andale, what they think of it? Fucking creepy man, love it!!!!! So many little gems in the game that could go unnoticed!

Yeah without a stealth boy it's pretty much hit and miss whether or not you can even get close enough to get a high percentage shot off. I only crouch a lot so I can tell when enemies have seen me, speaking of which.

Is there anywhere I can get an easy sniper rifle? I spend 80% of the time sneaking around and cant hit shit with the hunting rifle from distance (just got a scoped magnum, so hopefully that's better).

There is a trick to stealth, sort of what I'd call a bug or design oversight.

When you are crouched if you have always run toggled you're still being hit by stealth checks as if you are running.

Turn off always run when crouching, stick to dark areas/hours of the days, get your stealth >50 and you will find it very effective.

Once I figured out the tricks I was stealthing right up to Deathclaws and 1-hitting them with the custom combat shottie.

Easy sniper rifles:

Arkansas in Minefield has a sniper rifle. Unless you get a miraculous stealth kill on him it will be zero condition by the time you get your hands on it, though.

There is a chapel in the nw corner of the map, you can get it added to your map by talking to one of the people in arefu after completing the blood quest. Perched in that chapel is a gentleman with one of the two custom sniper rifles in the game. Quicksave before the encounter, I've heard of one instance where the body went haywire and they couldn't get the rifle.

Oh, and also...does anyone know why
my butler in Megaton
won't give me any more water? Do I have to wait a certain amount of time before I can get more, or is it just permanently done, or do I have to do something? I'm just really confused because I got 3 or 4 bottles of water, and then I couldn't get anymore and haven't been able to in a long time...

ok, how the heck did i miss this????

You can really aim at multiple parts of an enemy before choosing to attack, and then attack both parts????? Seriously??? :lol :lol :lol

How do you take screenshots on pc?
Press "Print Scrn", the images are saved to the Fallout3 game folder.
There's console commands to remove the HUD for a cleaner image too.

~ for console then tm to remove the hud and tm to add it back again.

msmma, yup. Go into VATS and choose what parts you want to hit. Click on any as many times as you have AP to use if you want. You can also click the big green arrows to each side of the screen to target another enemy if you have the points to spare too.

There are different kinds of Super Mutants. For instance, a Super Mutant Brute is much tougher (and has better weapons, I believe) than a regular.

The game has a very limited scale system compared to Oblivion.

It's under one of the settings listed as "Notifications". Don't remember which one offhand, but the description talks about friend notifications.

No freezes, but no notifications :(

Long time Fallout player...

I understand this isn't the old Fallout. There are differences, plenty of them. Leading up to its release, I was incredibly worried about this game and I even considered not buying it because it wasn't going to live up to the old Fallout experience.

Fallout, for me, has always been about human behavior. Greed, compassion--that sort of thing. The feeling of playing Fallout is finding the first shotgun after having dealt with a 10mm for hours. Or looting a stash of caps on a corpse post firefight (one in which you weren't even involved) when you're dead broke. It's seeing characters at the lowest point in their lives, strung out or in prostitution, or both, and making the decision to lift them up or put them out of their misery. In all these ways and more, I finally feel like I'm playing Fallout for the first time again.

Alright, you fuckers convinced me. Ordered the PC version today, hopefully I'll get it soon.

Any talks of an upcoming patch? Seems this game lacks some polish (or is it still fully playable without any game/quest breakers?).
Thank god for the glitches! If the game hadn't crashed on me twice this weekend, it's entirely possible that I might have been divorced and/or starved to death while continuing to play non-stop.

The police station mission was so fun! I had limited weapons and knew I could be over-run with mutants at any moment. So I sneaked around laying mines in doorways then let myself be seen. It was really intense!

I just log out of PSN when I play. Much easier than turning notifications on and off.

Probably a good idea.

On the other hand, does anyone know about my second question? About why I can't get more water at
my house in Megaton?

Not only that but you can do it to multiple creatures in the same VATs round, given enough action points. Headshotting three raiders in one VATs round is fun. :p

I just found out that if you wear a Ghoul mask, they won't attack you. Quite obvious though, but never thought of it.

The guy who gave me the ghoul mask in the first place told me exactly that so I didn't have to figure it out on my own. Presumably you found one laying around or on a vendor?

Going through my second play-through right now as an evil character and I already feel bad about killing off all the familiar faces I've bonded with in Megaton last game.

:(

Wow, I was thinking there should be a way to queue attacks. Now I know and won't have to spam the R2 button to enter vats after every attack.

you can only get so much at a time. then the robot says it has to recharge/replenish.

not sure how many days in between. i'd guess around a week game time.

You really thought you were limited to just one body part during your entire VATS turn? :P

I love having my character quickly target and shoot at different body parts, and also different enemies, with the laser gun. It feels very Han Solo and it's just cool watching that animation unfold, particularly if you do something like shoot both of his arms, his chest, and cap it off with a headshot that decapitates him.

I like a good leg/leg/weapon hand shot. It allows me to finish them at my leisure. Even better now that I have Finesse and get criticals all the time.

Melee guys -> Leg
Normal guys -> Head
Big guns guys -> guns

After that, sniper rifle/scoped 44-magnum and BUM! HEADSHOT!

Imagine that. You know, you can also attack multiple enemies at once.
Doesn't the game explicitly tell you this at some point? I may have just taken it for granted that it'd be possible.

Me and my bro

Nice.

You can recruit a Super-Mutant henchman?

I can't believe how many people are so far into the game and are still dead broke.

LEVEL REPAIR.

1)Level repair
2) Loot ever single piece of armor.
3) Combine all that busted-ass armor into one high-quality, valuable piece.
4) PROFIT.

Do the same for weapons. This allows you to fight longer without having to fast-travel back and sell loot, AND when you do head back to town and sell, you'll be selling a few pieces of high-value armor, instead of a few pieces of shit armor.

IIRC (QUEST SPOILERS)
when you retrieve the GECK you can free a mutant guy, that talks so maybe is possible. I leaved him there to rot :D

"Wow, I was thinking there should be a way to queue attacks. Now I know and won't have to spam the R2 button to enter vats after every attack."

That's exactly what I have been doing!!! :lol

Wow, what a n00b I am....seriously....knowing I can now do multiple targets per attack turn has increased my love of the battle system tenfold!!!!

A game question...some old dude outside of Megaton is asking for normal water (without rad in it).....anyone know where I can find some?

You'll find plenty throughout your adventure. However he doesn't give you anything but positive Karma.

There's a laser gun??? Okay I'm definitely picking this game up.

There's some randomly in first aid chests, sometimes enemies will have it, and you can get some in your house.

I tend to go weapon arm, head, chest.

If I go out of my way to help someone out, and all I get in return is a hearty "thanks", usually that means it's murder time. I'll take my payment out of your hide, if necessary.

Hmmm, some travelling salesman is trying to sell me a robotic companion that fights with me. It costs 1000 caps. Should I take it or just wait until I can hire Jericho?

i just traveld realy far north of the map and there whas a hill i climbed up on it an i could recieve a "chinese" radio which whas always repeading the same words over and over (no music xD) and a soon as i left the hill the signal got lost. So iam wondering is there any quest related to this?

i almost guarantee that you'll love it. if you don't, and want to get rid of it, i'll buy it from you at full price and give it to a friend as a gift.

but seriously, my money's safe--i've never really been into this sort of game, but it's consumed me.

The single most effective way to take down enemies who wield long-range weapons, especially guys like the super mutant brutes with lots of DR, is to aim all of your shots at their weapon. Even if your percentage is something like 30%, chances are you'll knock the gun free with enough shot attempts, and then they either have to pull out another weapon they already have (which is often a weak melee weapon) or run around searching for another one. And then they're easy pickings.

Sometimes they'll even simply charge at you with their fists, which was the cause of one of the most hilarious and awesome moments I've had in the game. It involved me critically injuring and disarming a super mutant in one VATS turn, and then he ran at me with his fists raised, and as he was running forward in my direction he promptly had his head blown clean off by Jericho who was somewhere behind me offering support. Totally unexpected and an incredibly awesome visual.

In Tenpenny's Tower,
right after I got the room key from Mr Burke, on the balcony after I set off the atom bomb, I killed him and Tenpenny. Will I miss anything or quests from either of them?
thanks!

Yep, he's an old friend in the Fallout universe. :D

And his appearance pissed off nwa.

After finishing the main quest, I'm going back to do more stuff, because I missed SO SO much.

Never found the slavers city, the other vault, oasis, loads of other places, never got back into 101 either.
And is there any explanation of how you and your dad got into vault 101 if u get back there?

You shouldn't have done that.

He later comes back to rescue you at Raven Rock armed with a Gatling Laser with infinite ammo, and if you've got good karma you can recruit him as a follower. And he's incredible - the only follower you don't need to babysit as his HP pool is HUGE.

the fucker won't go into the purifier for you. Ugh the ending has pissed me off big time

So I guess Jericho is gone since I blew up Megaton?
