After finishing the main quest, I'm going back to do more stuff, because I missed SO SO much.

Can you continue playing after going through the main quest ? Someone at work told me he went through the game and cant go back and do other quests...

Pro-tip for all players: just like in Oblivion, there's a magic cut-off point for the open world to be shut down. After the quest "American Dream" you're still free to do what you want until you accept the final quest. It may seem like everyone is being urgent but fuck em. Go off and kill some ants or some shit.

Thanks for the tip Giganticus however there was no cut-off point in Oblivion. I completed every major quest in the game and I could still explore the world whenever I wanted. On the other hand, you're saying that beating the main quest in Falout 3 ends your game and you have to start over. Is that correct?

If I end up hiring Jericho can he die and whatnot. Do you have to micromanage him? I have like 2500 caps and i'm thinking of just doing it but not if it's a pain.

Wheres the Brotherhoods citadel? I can't find it.

Edit: Oh yeah, those super mutants with the miniguns are SO DAMN HARD! I start getting cut down 50 feet away.

nope, just using a save from earlier.

Although I'm very very tempted to start over with a stealthy unarmed expert. Power fist my way through the wastelands (or of course "The Shocker" which made me laugh out loud when i found it.)

So I guess Jericho is gone since I blew up Megaton?

I'd say that's likely. When first talking to him I recall him making statements to the effect of "Megaton is fuckawesome, and the outside is complete shit." So I don't think he would have left beforehand or something.

You have to be evil to get him, though. That robot companion Hootie was talking about earlier, I also came across him but he refused to join me, so he might be a good guy follower. I'm not sure if he refused to join because my character is evil, or because I already had both Jericho and Dogmeat in my party.

Jericho is very powerful. He's never even come close to dying for me, and I'm pretty sure he just recharges health automatically at some point. He's also very strong offensively, wielding what looks like a Chinese Assault Rifle. And you don't have to micro-anything him. The guy takes complete care of himself. I kept him as long-range, though, which is his default. You can change his tactics to melee, and I'd imagine then you have to naturally keep a closer eye on him.

Does it make me weird if I spent a half hour last night shooting the limbs and heads off corpses, stripping them, and then piling them on a bar with mines underneath, and throwing a grenade at the whole mess?

A quadrapalegic/decpaitated torso is a funny thing to "pick up" with the right stick button in third person. It just kind of.. Floats there in front of you.

Oblivion has no cut-off point. In fact, it has the exact opposite. In Oblivion you complete the game's final climactic battle, in all it's epic-ness, and then... that's it. You get some dialogue and are then movement un-freezes and you are free to wander around the world again. NPC dialogue is just like "thanks for saving us!" :lol

Quick question for thos who might know. Involving a location.

I don't remember exactly... but I definetly want to do this and see what everyone was raving about. Don't want to miss out.

It's part of the main quest so you can't miss it.

What are some of the must play side-quests? I stayed on a pretty linear path after getting to the radio station. Any suggestions?

Haha yeah I was picking up heads and they looked awesome floating in the air.

Thanks for the info Zeliard, and yeah I think that robot companion doesnt like evil folks either his owner said 'i can tell he doesnt like the look of you' or something of that nature.

I recommend Helping Moira in Megaton complete her Wasteland Survival Guide. The quest is long, you get lots of goodies and you get to explore nifty places.

!

So I was looking around for ages for Walter to give him some scrap.. couldn't find him anywhere. Never at the processing plant, just that junkie from the restaurant.

And then finally I run into him - dead! - in a heap on the ground beside a fence.

WTF happened?

Can NPCs just randomnly die, or die without your direct or indirect involvement?

Poor Walter :| Guess I'll have to sell my scrap now to Gob.

Players have been reporting that some Megaton residents (Walter in particular) have a tendancy to accidently fall from the skywalks to their deaths. :( Walter's gone missing in my game too and I was going to sell him scrap. I'm assuming his body is somewhere in Megaton although I haven't seen it.

I love the ambiance. I just got the sniper rifle from the guy in the minefield (still had 25 CND), and popped into a nearby house to sleep. I had to pick up and move the skeletons of the previous family.

Death is permanent in Fallout 3 to characters who aren't critical to the main storyline. In Fallout 1 + 2, it was permanent to anyone and everyone.

Thanks guys! i'm still in Megaton after like 3 hours. I'm never going to get far in this game! :lol BTW is there any other towns in the game and if so how many?

Will
Cromwell or the Church of Atom ever notice that I disarmed the bomb
?

Also, are there any alternative ways of getting the Rock-It Launcher besides buying the schematics from Moira?

He was there for DAYS before I found him *sob*

I've laid him out at the entrance of the water processing plant. Bitches in this town didn't even mention his passing to me, but now they won't be able to avoid his happy face.

I hope Gob gives me a good price on his jumpsuit.

Jesus H. Christ, how THE FACK this town has made it through post-apocalptic armageddon is beyond me! The raiders outside must have an inflated perception of the strength of megaton, cos they should have overrun it long ago. There's only about a dozen of them to start with, and half of them seem completely incompetent!
Simms turning his back on the dude who wanted to nuke the town..yeah..real western justice there man...
. I better hurry her quest before she misses a step.

You can steal a schematic from the armory in Rivet City if you have a Stealth Boy. This was someone else's tip on GAF. You have to pickpocket the guy at the main gate for the armory key. I was looking around Rivet City last night and couldn't find the armory, though, but I didn't have that much time to look too carefully. Rivet City is pretty damn big.

That's nothing. I'd been playing for a while and was still in Megaton doing quests and exploring with it as the anchor point, and decided to look at my save file out of curiosity. I was shocked, shocked, to see that it was at 20 hours. And that's before even finishing Megaton and going down to Galaxy News Radio.

i think its hilarious that charackters die because of game "bugs / glitches" .. in this case it adds to the expirience :lol

I had Nathan just die on me. I've been looking for Walter for a while, he's probably just dead somewhere, too.

Take your scrap metal to Underworld, trade 5 scrap metal for a stimpak.

is there any way to get into the armory in megaton other than picking the lock or killing simms? ive tried pickpocketing just about everyone in town for the key but nothing yet.

Too bad. I love selling scrap. Made over 300 caps in one trip by finding a ton of it in
the Family's hideout. They have what looks like an ice cream cooler full of it.

I hope that junkie dies. He's an asshole.

I'd love to think there were some murder-mystery action to be had here, though. And that it wasn't just some bug. Since
Simm's death
I've kind of gotten comfortable in the role of town sherrif.

I've been looking for a trader with that schematic, since the first one I saw in front of Megaton when I first got there had one, but I was way too poor then. I haven't come across him again, though. It's always some other traveling salesman now either at Megaton or Arefu. And I definitely didn't kill that first guy.

How much did Walter give per scrap?

Where is the hideout? I started searching, but got distraced by something else.

I think my Moriarty is dead. I haven't seen him since the first quest. I wonder who offed him?

I know who was responsible in my game. I shot Moriarty in the head and then threw him off the top of his own tower. Well, the tower he randomly took ownership of, at least.

btw. guys in the artbook there is a picture of a weapong made from a old glass filled with nails and a bomb sticked to it, with a cigarete as a detonator. Is this weapon in the game???

Awesome. :lol I hate the guy. I would have probably done it myself if I knew he was going to vanish.

I think i'm gonna kill my moriarty today. i hate that guy. i already hacked his computer so i didnt need him to give me the info on my father. besides, gob is my buddy and moriarty has to pay for fucking with him.

EDIT: now that i think about it,i havent seen moriarty around.. i wonder if there is certain times that characters just die, like on x date.

I can't find Eulogy anymore.
I bought Clover off of him after my old ghoul manservant Charon was slaughtered by two deathclaws, and now Eulogy's nowhere to be seen in Paradise Falls or his pad. :(

Everyone in Tenpenny Tower pisses me off. :lol

I think Bethesda deliberately designed it that way, to see if they can goad people playing a good guy into going on a murderous rampage.

:lol First thing I did right after I spoke to him was gun him down. I also capped the Overseer in front of his daughter for no reason other than hating everything he represented.

Damn. Poor guy.

Just got the game today, installed it onto my PC, started playing, and now when I try to go into DC to find Galaxy Radio my game just freezes.

Ugh.

While I will say I very much enjoy Bethesda games and such, I can't help but think they sometimes over-stretch with their ambitions and end up not polishing their games to their best ability. (Not saying my issue has anything to do with that, but I highly doubt I did sometime wrong as my rig is more than adequate to run it and I know what I'm doing when it comes to PC's.)

They had to have. I was trying to be relatively neutral, but once I got to Tenpenny Tower that went out the window. My advice for the quest:
Team up with the ghouls in the subway tunnel nearby. They are way nicer and they make short work of those stuck up assholes once you let them into the tower. It also allows you to loot the entire place while the ghouls are busy murdering everyone!

crowphoenix said:

You know what's hilarious, I went into the back of his saloon with the Mesmatron decided I disliked the asshole enough to sell him as a slave, I aimed at his head and fired but it failed to stun him so he starts yelling at me and shooting me with his weak ass pistol. Then this combat shotgun wielding settler rushes back here and unloads on him all the while I don't do anything violent and the opportunistic settler makes quick work of him yells that he got what he deserved and is all like "see ya later." I read his console afterward and felt kinda bad, dude wasn't so bad everyone in megaton that hates on him is actually a pretty fucked up asshole themselves.

In the Tenpenny's Tower,
that ghoul wants me to open the basement to let the Feral Ghouls in so that they will kill the occupants and they can move in. However, I wanted to convince the occupants to let the ghouls stay. Some want, others don't. I tried to convince them once, but I didn't have enough Speech to convince them.

Now I came back later, but I can't convince them anymore.
Do I have to let the ghouls in by killing the captain for his key and by the same way killing some of the innocents of the tower to finish this quest?
I don't want to lose Karma.

Might be too late but... (spoilers regarding whether you let him in nicely or not)
Don't fucking let those assholes in there. Even if you convince them to stay and pull it off (why aren't you saving before speech chances?) it sucks. You're much better off killing the ghouls. I let them in nicely and now I have Tenpenny Tower all to myself and a robot bartender -_-. Hostile takeover also destroys your room, by the way. Docile merge doesn't but... it sucks. Roy is a prick, and "takes out the trash." Which is EVERYONE IN THE FUCKING TOWER BUT THREE PEOPLE INCLUDING HIMSELF. So, unless you don't want a doctor or more than two shops in your city... kill him. Or just let them hostile take over for the achievement then reload and let him sit at the door for eternity.

EDIT: Question about the Ghouls in Tenpenny:
WHERE DID HE PUT THE BODIES?! The biker ghoul said he put them in the basement, but they weren't on either side in the generator room, and I checked the entire god damn Metro station. I can't imagine anyone left a save of them going down this path and found out, but... I'd like to loot their stores at least, and the god damn keys are on the corpses :(.
