The Official Fallout 3 thread of post-apocalyptic proportions!

I don't like that you seem to have to progress pretty far in the main quest before being trained in power armor. My two characters both have the armor, and it's been dead weight for hours.

Once you get Power Armor it really trivializes most of the encounters in the game. It's pretty much a balance issue. I think it would've been okay to have a perk with a prerequisite of Strength 10 and Endurance 10 to wear it early on though.

Basically I wanna excell at small arms, but can talk my way out of a situation/disarm a potentially hostile one...
sound good?
I don't think you need that many points in Strength unless you're going melee. I'd focus on bringing two stats up to 8 myself. For Charisma, you can always supplement a medium score with Speech skill.

I finally got to the National Guard Depot but I cant find where to unlock the security door. I can hear the last bobblehead laughing at me :(

The power armour is actually pretty naff, by the time you unlock it you could be wearing superior ranger armour which has none of the drawbacks, beth seems to have over nerfed it.

true true ...don't really plan on using Melee at all so will dedunct points then ...will put them towards Agility and intelligence then?

But also increase the amount you can carry.

Intelligence is a must you get more skill points that way when you level up.

A few more screens.

Here I am on patrol with some Brotherhood outcasts. :lol

Melee = strength = How much I can carry?

true true ....hmm, maybe I just won't hoarde as much stuff then

But you really should go with intelligence, you get more skill points when you level up.

yeah was definitely going with Intelligence anyways ...that and Agility were always going to be primaries

Honestly I agree with this. I put 8 in Intelligence and I'm already maxing out my 3 skills almost by level 8.

EDIT: I should also mention that is also with the help with some perks though :lol

At first I just gave him my name, Christopher
...then took it a bit more seriously and designed a nerdish avatar named Abraham

Seriously, I keep rerolling my avatar as I can't get a look I'm happy with

...At one point I wanted a bearded, ruff, survivor lookin' dude ala The Road (which didn't sit right with me since your supposed to be 19 anyway)

...Then I wanted a 50's Greaser dude with the 101 Suit that has chucks

...Now I have Abraham, which is a clean shaven, smooth combed, Horn-rimmed wearing nerd!

Yeah good choices I like melee so i going to be adding points to strength.

There's a perk that will give you a big boost to what you can carry, and you can stuff items it virtually every box you find. It's not something to worry about.

So I've just completed the game. I was wondering if
I'm able to go back out to the wasteland and explore? My last save was the auto save in to the Purifier room. Is it just a case of walking back out and being able to explore, or am is there a way to do this after the game? I want to find more bobble heads! >_>

Yea this perk gives you the ability to carry 50 more lbs of stuff

Just finished the game! Holy shit ton of amazingness. I loved it from start to finish. The only complaint I have (which I feel is most applicable to this game is) the side quests.

I don't know if they are good or not and thats my complaint. The story line is so good and makes everything feel so pressing that I never got the feeling I had an opportunity to go check out the side quests :D

I guess this will be one of the few games where I for a 2nd play through so I can catch most of them.

Holy fuck what a good game.

The side quests are awesome, theres a couple that are kind of tame but for the most part they are just as sweet as the main story. You should definitely try to check them out.

I'm sure this was covered a million pages ago...but when I started the game today (retail U.S. PC) Xbox Live gave me the 1.0.0.15 update.

I finished the game last night. Yay!

I was really surprised how much of an emotional response the game got out of me. I rarely get scared, sad, angry, etc. from games but I was genuinely sad and conflicted at the end.

I just need 2 more fucking Coca Cola Quantums, it's driving me mad, what a crappy quest. I heard theres an overturned truck with some near Paradise Falls but I cant find it :(

Well, I tried to play this game, but a horrible sound glitch is maiking it impossible. Sometimes the sound will work, and then it all turns horrifc noises that make me turn off the sound completely.

I can't find mention of this glitch anywhere. Does Steam let you return games if you beg to customer service?

Anyone else having issues updating with GFWL, it just says Can't download this update, such a helpful error message.

The only thing I can complain about, regarding this game - is the lack of depth for every character. I feel absolutely nothing when I do something for/to them - or when something happens for/to them.

The problem is your hardware.

Wish you could either alter your avatar's physical appearance (IE: Hair, tan) or it would alter over time/wear

You can. I found places to alter your hair/beard and even a place to alter your face.
hair in your house. Pinkerton in rivet for face

I decided to restart my character build last night because after reading a tad more into SPECIAL i realized i had points in useless places for the fist/thief/ninja i was to build :p

S4
P7
E10
C4
I4
A7
L5

Charisma was @ 3 originally but i put a perk into it at lvl3, make take it to lvl 7, then max perception and agility.

I dont care if the build will be hard for a first playthrought, i've got big guns to fall back on just in case, but i will try to use my fists most of the time, shooting their guns before of course :)

Don't put anything at 10 since you can find bobbleheads to increase each stat by 1 point. I would put that point into intelligence.

as far as im aware the quantums in paradise falls are in the head slaver pimp eugenes house behind the stairs

the truck is near the village at the top east of the map

and theres a bunch in the super duper mart :)

and the reward for the quest is nuka grenade schematic

You are able to max out your stats in the game. You just need to be smart about how distributing points. I forget where but I read a good guide which I used for my second run in the game to max out.

This game is so awesome! But it misses multiplayer so much :|

I guess I don't see how multi-player would even work well. Yes, it has FPS-esque qualities...but against human opponents it wouldn't exact translate.

Perhaps if it was some kind of "here is your huge geographical area, defend it" type of thing versus deathmatch-y quick matches (which would definitely not work well within the current engine).

So I just got to the museum area, liking it so far. A couple of questions:

1. I've heard that this game is 20 hours long give or take. I'm at the museum at something like 8 hours in, it feels more like a 35-40 hour game to me. Am I progressing very slowly or is the 20 hour thing inaccurate?

I'm more than 27 hours in, and only recently finished the GNR quest. So I guess the game is as long as you want it to be. And I'm sure you could blow through the main quest in 10 hours if you wanted to. But why would anyone want to do that? Personally, I love to be sidetracked while doing sidequests and just doing general exploration stuff.

Sort of a MMORPG. Doing quests co-op and stuff

2 player coop would rock my socks off. Exploring the world together would kick ass. Have you ever played Baldur's gate 2 multiplayer?

Wooooooooo!! 1000gs. I feel like I really earned them, great set of achievements too. Now I can put the game away for Gears 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour which come out tomorrow.

Downgrade am total.

I'm really looking to get back into this one, but could use some tips. The game has glitched up and shut my PS3 down 4 times, so that left a bad taste and i moved onto some Castlevania OoE once i reached LVL 3.

but i really just want to do like i did in Oblivion and go off exploring the land as a nomad. I have a difficult time with $$$ since a bed is so expensive to rest in. what's the best way to just get out on the landscape and start leveling?

Wow. I actually just looked at the achievement list for the first time. What did you do about the Karma based achievements? 3 playthroughs or did you just juggle saves?
