I'm tempted to double dip on the PC version due to the Steam sale. Is the PC version significantly better looking than the 360 version. What about stuttering? I recall that alot of people suffered from the dreaded stuttering on the PC version.
Thanks for any insights.
The pc version is tons better than the console because of mods. Get it.
What made me come back to fallout lately have been the mods. I've tried so many different ones. At first I tried huge overhauls like FOOK and FWE. They had a lot of stuff I liked, but didn't like. So, I decided to make my own mod package. Right now, I am loving Fallout more then ever. Here is what I'm using (no links, but a quick search could bring them up at fallout3nexus.com)-
Existence 2.0-
Music mod that brings in a robot DJ who speaks about his existence, lucid dreaming and even gives a quest while you listen to his sad, errie and moving industrial/electronic music. It is not a lie when I say I could not play Fallout without this mod after experiencing it.
Enhanced weather rain and snow-
This brings a complete overhaul in the weather. This along with existence completely changes the atmosphere of the game. It makes it far more darker, bleaker....just plain creepy. Its awesome
Extra Talon, raider, and merc outfits-
Brings in diversity to the people you encounter.
Marts Mutant Mod-
A standard mod, brings in new npcs and ups the amounts of random encounters you have.
Badass supermutants with hp boost-
Makes super mutants weild only heavy weaponry and gives them a lot of hp so they seem like a real threat.
Various weapons-
I dled some carbines, a few different machine guns, and some new handguns. Its really up to your discretion there are so many weapons out there. I tried the 20th century sovuiet pack, which was great until I got to the auto shotguns because they were game breakingly powerful (I had to uninstall). But, lots of awesome weapons out there for dl. Depends on what you want.
Various Perk Packs
I use Ultimate Perk Packs, robco (make your own robots!!!), and Dree perk packs. These bring in a lot of great (and some not so great) packs. Because of these perks and their requirements I find myself putting points into skills I never bothered to raise before. It adds a lot to character development.
DX armors
These replace all the textures for power armor, enclave armor, and outcast. Makes it look far, far better.
Better power armor, better regulator dusters-
Ups the stats on these armors and makes them feel like walking tanks. not game breaking, but good.
Rockwell minigun
New texture for minigun, a lot better).
Classic Fallout weapons pack
Nuff said.
All this stuff makes fallout a far more enjoyable experience imo.
