Yeah that sounds insane. They have built up their team to a winning one, perfect for it's purpose in Red Bull's eyes: Promotion of their drink.

Why the hell would Renault pull out of F1 and then let Nissan take over Red Bull. Why would Red Bull sell themselves after being so succesfull.

That rumour doesn't make sense what so ever.

Red Bull isn't going anywhere.

But there are rumors the Renault engines will be branded Infiniti.
Everyone knows Renault, but few people (in Europe especially) know Infiniti. Cheap advertising.

Latest rumour doing the rounds is that Nissan/Infiniti is set to buy Red Bull Racing.

Announcement to be made on the 31st Jan, Red Bull (or Nissan/Infiniti) plan to launch their car on the 1st February.
I don't know why, I'm not even a Nissan fan, but this would be awesome.

Remember when HRT didn't do any pre-season testing and went into 2010 season with an untested, terrible car?
Well good news!, it happening all over again for 2011.

New Hispania driver Narain Karthikeyan has revealed the team's 2011 car will not be ready until the fourth pre-season test in Bahrain - only eight days before the start of the season in March.

The Nissan branding for RBR makes sense rather than a sell-out.
Change from RBR Renault to RBR Nissan.

Exactly. I think Nissan is a much more internationally recognizable brand.

No HRT for my new fantasy team then. LOL.

Speaking of, when is the league starting up again?

Are we still in the same league or do we have to create a new one each year?

Sounds like a load of rubbish. Why would they sell their team as soon as they are succesfull? And why would they not sell Torro Rosso first?

Toro Rosso is independent from Red Bull now, I think.

They are independent from Red Bull Racing but are still owned by Red Bull. Afaik Red Bull has been looking into selling off Toro Rosso for quite some time now.

and yeah, Nissan or Infiniti (depending on how hard Nissan is looking into pushing Infiniti to non-us markets) motor branding makes sense.

It makes the most sense, especially as Renault are now involved with three teams.

But, yeah, the idea of Renault buying up a team (the reigning double champions too, so no bargains to be had here) and branding it Nissan when they've just sold another one that they can't afford is just ridiculously outlandish.

Renault doesn't own Nissan nor do they own a majority share.

No they don't, but they operate in a mutual partnership. The World Series by Nissan became World Series by Renault in the aftermath of the sort-of-merger, for example.

There is no way on Earth that Nissan would ever be able to do F1 without Renault support or without trying to buy into or sponsor what was Renault's own F1 team.

Do we maybe have the rumor wrong and Nissan is actually buying Torro Rosso? I could actually see that happening as well.

Exactly.

Buying Torro Rosse is more plausible, but I still don't see it happening.

Seems weird at this point of the (pre)season as they would run the season with Ferrari motors.
I think the Nissan branding of the RBR motors would make more sense

With the departure of Pat Fry to Ferrari, McLaren have reshuffled their engineering department for 2011 onwards.
The highly respected Paddy Lowe has been given the role of technical director at McLaren, a job title that has not been used since the departure of Adrian Newey at the end of 2005. Meanwhile chief engineer Tim Goss takes on the role of director of engineering.

It’s not always easy for outsiders to work who does what in the design and engineering process, so it’s best to refer to McLaren’s own description of what the changes mean: “Paddy will continue to lead our technical strategy in his own quietly authoritative way, but his new role will afford him even greater levels of focus as he will be spearheading new and innovative technical projects relating to our Formula 1 future. He’ll also continue to represent the technical aspect of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes within FOTA and with the FIA.

“Paddy’s broader remit means that Tim Goss, our chief engineer on MP4-25, will assume a larger role within the car development programme. As a result, Tim now becomes McLaren Racing’s director of engineering.

“Underpinning them both is Neil Oatley, a McLaren veteran who joined the team in 1986, and continues in his role as director of design and development programmes. Neil will set and execute many of our top-level projects as well as working tirelessly to bring new projects and upgrades to our cars.”

So now you know! Since the departure of Newey Lowe – who joined in 1993 – has become an increasingly important member of the team.

“It’s great for Neil and me to be joined by Tim as another director on the technical side,” he said in a McLaren statement. “With the three of us, we’ll not only be able to more efficiently spread our workload, but, through Tim and me, we’ll also share race attendance.

“It’s very important to have senior technical management at the racetrack, because that’s where you score the points, but, equally, if you spend all your time away then you risk overlooking some of the hard work that happens back at the factory.”

Goss explained: “I used to be jointly responsible for the direction of our cars with Pat Fry. Now I’ve taken on both roles – but there’s obviously been some shifting of responsibilities within the team as, clearly, I can’t do the work of two people.

“As director of engineering, my role will be to co-ordinate a small team of project engineers who are responsible for the specification, design and development of our cars.”

The biggest news is that Goss will be sole designer now, he used to swap with Fry every other year.

ScarbF1 also had a tweet the other day saying the McLaren car is even more innovative than last years F-duct car.

Looks like the more and more info is starting to come out on the 2011 cars every day now.
Latest from ScarbF1 twitter again:

Autosport Magazine report the Ferrari F150 will be a RedBull clone having Pull Rod rear suspension resulting in a tall narrow gearbox

From new issue of Autosport:

F150
-Red Bull-style nose, which will become standard this season, with more complex spoiler
-pull-rod suspension, as mentioned week ago
-narrow, tall gearbox
-McLaren-style sidepods - more curved sidepods and more air intakes to help cooling

can't wait to see this new Mac:

ScarbsF1:

I hear the new McLaren MP4-26 is looking 'Drastic' and very different to the 2010 car. ;-)

Sounds like Mclaren is going for high risk high payoff revolutionary car that they tried to last year.

Problem was when it became obvious the Exhaust Blown Diffuser was worth more in lap time than the F-Duct Mclaren got screwed. Since their car wasn't as adaptable as say the Ferrari which started off the season with neither the F-Duct or EBD but was able to incorporate both at with relatively little problem(F-Duct development seemed to slow down other upgrades though). Mclaren had trouble with their EBD until the last few races.

F150 name is fitting for the Ferrari(built ford Tough :p). It took some big hits in the later races and kept on going while the other cars involved broke.

Forgot to mention it earlier but Hulkenberg is the reserve/third driver for Force India this year.
He will be driving last years car at the first test next week.

And that leaves Liuzzi without a seat. The last remaining seat is at HRT, and they haven't made any announcements of an announcement yet.

The rear wing is painted in Italian flag colours, looks good. And the rest of the car is red too! Shocking..

Looks like straight nose with tapered faring underneath and small compact sidepods.
The shark fin is gone too.

Scarb1 mentions innovative suspension system, possibly the rumoured linked front/rear suspension system.
Sounds like a legal version of the old active suspension from the early 90s.

the V-nose is much less aggressive but i remember reading some where that they were banned, rear of the car looks more sculpted, especially around the engine cover and sidepods.....should see a new front wing i think

i guess what really matters is under the skin though.....

Some stuff from Tombazis
This car had to be reviewed hugely due to the new regulations.

The front part is similar to the one from last year but we will introduce some changes during our tests.

As you can see the front part of the chassis has been raised and the suspension, too, we have studied the lower part in order to iprove the flow underneath the car which is very important for performance.

And due to the raising of the frame the driver will be sitting in a higher position and you can see also the engine snorkel is a bit higher in order to have the same performance.

If you look back on the sides you have stronger indentation in the lower part and in the central part you can see that. We have introduced KERS in the area of the fuel tank.

If we go back a little bit more we have different behaviour in terms of the diffuser. We have tried to improve this structure in aerodynamic terms so the diffuser is completely reviewed in the light of the new regulations. It’s lower, it’s far simpler because the regulations are stricter.

And obviously we have this mobile rear flap. This is the first evolution and main target is controlling the operations of it, there will be strong development in that.

Yep, its been noted that the front wing is last years just stuck on. Its still got the driver adjustable flaps still on it which are banned this year.
