I've only played a little of the beta at a friend's...I should have bought Crackdown (instead of renting it for a week).

Does the gravity setting affect grenade travel?

You know as much as I do that you can't live without having repeatedly beaten me in Halo 3... erm, I mean, without having played countless rounds of Double Team with me in Halo 3. :lol

I have to admit though, if I wasn't being driven up to London, I don't know how I would be able to take my 360 with me...

See you on the 26th! (providing neither of us has lectures/other shit to go to...)

Well I'm being driven to Norwich, so that takes care of that aspect at least (otherwise there'd be no chance of bringing the 360/monitor). I've compromised with myself, and I'm bringing no other games, and buying no other games while I'm there. And I might bring the 360 home at Christmas to play Orange Box/Mass Effect/Assassin's Creed, and then leave it there.

I have to hope BT can sort out Internet between the 14th and the 26th, though.
 
I've managed to completely distract myself from the pains of waiting for Halo by getting hooked on World of Warcraft again. WHAT HAVE YOU DRIVEN ME TO DO BUNGIE?
 
Damn nice artwork m0dus. I'm already using one of your desktop backgrounds, but the alternatives are looking quite appealing.

As for the text . . . a bit too much italicizing and bolding for my taste. Lay off the formatting buttons buddy :D

If you haven't already booked it, I wouldn't get your hopes up on that one. Unless there's a line already in the place, in which case you might be ok.

Psychotext: yeah, I don't think there's already a line. I could ring my housemates and ask them to ring BT today, but there's no guarantee they'd do it. Someone told me ~10 days if there's already a line, so it looks like I'll be missing out on everything multiplayer at first.
 
I've avoided all halo threads for fear of learning something I didn't want to know, but I couldn't resist the lure of an official thread. Great work GhaleonEB(& m0dus)!

Ah, I was wondering about how you were getting there. I'm only going into second year, and I'm pretty good at disciplining myself to work when I have to, so I have no worries about gaming this year. I'm leaving my 360 in England for Christmas, though, which I guess will feel odd.

I hope we can get internet sorted out quickly. I'm fairly certain there's still a BT line installed/activated, so all I need to do is sort out the Sky subscription and get a router from them.

Wow. This thread is why I joined Gaf, srsly. I saw the insanity of the beta thread and just had to wade on in :). Didn't think I was going to make it, but I appreciate the mods big Validation group before Halo 3 :D.

I might make it the second game I have ever preordered online (the other being Planescape: Torment), just because the prospect of getting buses etc. to GAME on launch morning is not pleasant to me.
 
Congrats, Ghaleon, on what will inevitably be the biggest thread of GAF - ever. That means you're one and two in the 'hall of fame.' Well done.

And what a friggin thread it is. Really hot banners, lots of info (like h3da reborn or some shit) and I'm sure it'll be well taken care of. Hopefully there won't be any cocks who get/steal the game early and think its in their best interest to spoiler drop - and if there is, I pray to the GAFrican gods that the moderators respond with epic bannage.

I'd also like to thank all of the faithful Halo ilk here for being incredibly hardcore fans and good 'forum friends' over the last year or so since I've been here. It's definitely the nexus of the video game community, and I'm glad people like Ghaleon and Tieno are going to be supplying content for the biggest game of this platform cycle.

And a heaping amount of thanks to Stinkles, LukeSmith, ferrex and Man Cannon for hanging out with us. They really don't need to at all, particularly with their type of schedules, but that they do shows how completely dedicated Bungie is to its ground-roots fanbase. Thanks guys.

Like I have for the past few weeks, I'll be ducking in and out of this thread and other ones, but in order to stay away from spoilers, I won't be interfacing as much as I have before or as much as I plan to do after 9/25.

OMFG. Halo 3 is almost here. Holy crap.

We've been waiting since 2001 for this story to be completed - and now we're only days away from finishing the fight.

Wherever I can find one. I'm assuming Australia's consumerist frenzy will be mild enough for me to get hold of the game on the day. I've decided I don't need the extras, and the money that would have gone towards cat-hat will get sucked up pretty quickly by another game. Probably JB - I feel a sort of loyalty towards them for some ridiculously cheap cd pricing over the years.

I think it's going to be quite a while before this one overtakes the Beta thread, as that had all the Crackdown distribution problems, exploits for getting in early, and BXR talk plumping it out in the middle.

But yeah, everyone has to do their part to make this the most epic of threads, in respect of the most epic of games.

I have four days in work then I'm off till October, perfect timing. :D

I ordered the Legendary edition I'm a little concerned whether it will come or not, after I pre-ordered it 3 days later they stopped taking pre-orders. They did send me the Bioshock Limited though and I've heard nothing of my order being cancelled so I hold out hope. :)

Campaign will have legs, I still play Gears co-op with my friends. Skulls and meta game? Awesome. I've already called the Arbiter. :D

Those are some incredible templates you made there m0dus. I was completely blown away when I first saw them a few months back.

Halo 3 is so close, I can taste it! :D

If you have a UK 360 (or Halo 3 is region free) I highly reccomend gameplay.com for your pre-ordering needs.
 
Ya know, over the past month myself and a friend sat and went through Halo and Halo 2 in Co-Op, reading this thread and basking in the warmth of the excitement makes me feel like we blew our collective Halo ramp up wads prematurely.

Maybe I'll go through Halo 1 in Single Player this weekend :(
