Field Runners just got a pretty big update. That alone could keep me busy for a good 5 hours.

Strategery is freaking awesome too...Lux Touch as well.

Finally! Can't wait to hear TTD impressions! I've seriously played it more than just about any other game over the past few months (iPhone or otherwise!). To quote my original post made way back on December 26th...

Bold proclamation time: Tap Tap Dance is the best game on the App Store. BLOWS away TTR and NiN edition; better graphics, less lag (although it's still there, unfortunately), better note tracking, better track selection (arguable, but it is for me!), amazing boss stages, better difficulty progression, triple-taps & holds, the ability to turn off the arrows... Give it a shot if you've been on the fence or even if you haven't. Only negative is the somewhat small tracklist (10 songs), but for 5 dollars you can't ask for much more.

Said list:

Midnight Madness - Chemical Brothers
Compressor - Soul Magic Orchestra - TTD exclusive
Where's Your Head At - Basement Jaxx
Technologic - Daft Punk (boss stage on EASY)
Daylight (Morgan Page Remix) - Sunny Levine - TTD exclusive
Zdarlight - Digitalism
Disco Lies (Dusty Kids Fears Mix) - Moby (boss stage on MEDIUM)
Stratosphere - Junkie XL
Goldrush - Tiesto
Phantom Pt. II (Soulwax Remimx) - Justice (boss stage on HARD) - Simply amazing!

Protip: Play with the dock through an external audio source & nice sub!
It's LIGHT-YEARS ahead of Revenge. Drop the 4 dollars, you'll see. Plus, my post above is outdated. It's now cheaper, with less lag, enhanced boss stages, and better performance.

...that you're not playing, TAP TAP DANCE, just got an update. Tweaks the boss stages -- adds more awesome -- and smooths out a few bugs, making the best even better. As if that wasn't enough, the price is dropping to $3.99 as soon as the store refreshes!

NO MORE EXCUSES, GO GO GO!

Do these guys have a deal with Konami or something? I would have thought Konami's patent lawyers would have been on their case by now.

I'm going on vacation so I have 17 hours of flights ahead of me. Any recommendations for games?

[...]

Any others I should get?

I wouldn't leave without these:

Blue Attack
Pinball Dreams
iShoot
X-Plane if you like recursion

Honorable mention:

Galcon (weird but nice -and free?- RTS)
Warfare Inc. (nice RTS)
Blue Defend

i'm looking for a good RTS, any suggestions? Warfare Inc (reference above) looks pretty good.

Are there any games like advance wars or valkyria chronicles, where it's turn based?

Thanks

I've got a $15 to spend in the iTunes store. I only am interested in new apps, specifically games. What three do I get considering I haven't bought any games worth more than "free" yet?

I was thinking Crayon Physics, Field Runners & most of Rolando or maybe Edge.

Thanks.

You have to go with Edge atleast...

Fieldrunners is excellent. Edge is OK. Rolando is lame.

Is there a GAF app? I saw someone posted some list that mentioned it but search brings up nothing.

There's a web-app; it's just a more optimised way of viewing it on the iPhone. http://www.secondapps.com/neogaf/

Don't listen to Great Dave. he's in the small minority of Rolando haters.

the game is great and a good deal at 6 bucks. EDGE is also sweet. other good ones are crayon physics, tap tap dance, fantastic contraption or tiki towers.

Anyone try ExZeus yet? It's a port of some Wii shovelware but it looks like a cross between Space Harrier and Sin and Punishment. TouchArcade forum members are calling the greatest thing ever and an absolute must-buy, naturally...

I brought Time Crisis and ExZeus, both good games and I can see myself playing them for a while.

Time Crisis though is very short, probably why where are some cheap sneak attacks which hit you too quickly to take out health.

ExZeus is the best looking touch game I own, amazing fun and very arcade.

Just tried the Sneezies demo. It's kind of like a simplified version of Every Extend Extra in that you try to set up chain reactions and explode as many sneezies as possible. The demo was fun enough for me to pick up the full version (especially since it's only 99 cents).

WAT. Rolando is awesome!

Rolando basically showcases everything I dislike about iPhone gaming. Most people seem to like it, but in general people have low standards for iPhone. Either that or I'm just miserable.

Just a heads up for Fieldrunner fans.

version 1.2.1 will be up in a few days. It was submitted to Apple already and should fix a lot of the crashing and bugs that 1.2 brought, which is good to see because mine kept crashing every 5 minutes.

he just needs pratice, it pissed me off at first but you do get use to it.

When they shoot a red bullet at you from a distance you have a clear second to react, the only time they hit you instantly is if they are right in front of your face but for that you just wait for them to reload before coming out of fire.

Not perfect but it's not broken.

Is ExZeus the same game that's in the Beachhead arcade cabinets and came out on wii as Counter Force?

EDIT: I answered my own question, yes it is. No thanks.

Is ExZeus worthy of the hype? Looks pretty neat, but is it fun?

Pretty impressive, but I seem to be dying really fast. Hard to tell what's going on and dodging is tough.

Edit: Symbol6 is pretty good. Nice, polished puzzler that gets tough fast.

Stupid question, but how do you delete games off the main screen?
Touch and hold an appication, then when they start wiggling, hit the X on the application. You can also move apps by dragging when they wiggle.

Just hold down on the icon for a few seconds and then the icon(s) will start jiggling with X's on the top left corner. Press the X to delete it.

On the same subject, is there anyway to delete some of the default stuff like "Weather"? They don't have the X icons. Same for some of Safari's bookmarks :/

No all default stuff has to stay, but I moved mine to page 2 so page 1 is just games and downloaded apps.

Days Of Thunder is out, $0.99 this weekend, then it's jumping to $4.99.

It's a decent arcade racer. I still prefer SlotZ, though.
$5?? Gotta pay for that license somehow I guess. I like the look of the game but not going to buy it for now, spent enough this week.

sorry for asking this again but,

what are the best RTS-type games?

Galcon for an extremely simplified, super-fast-action RTS. And Warfare Incorporated, for more traditional "gather resources, use them to build troops and stuff, send troops at the enemy" RTS gameplay.

No, you can't delete those. For Safari Bookmarks, hit "Edit" then the litttle red "-" or swipe from the left to the right on the bookmark you want to delete.

I love how the wheels are static on the cars. :lol

Fun game though, 99 cents is a deal.

Just got my iPhone!!! I purchased Rolando, Hero of Sparta, and Days of Thunder. I'm going to chill with the spending spree for a week or so and then I'll pick up something from the following list: Galcon, Fieldrunners, Toy Bot Diaries, Dropship, Snail Mail, and Real Soccer 2009.

BTW, I also downloaded Stanza and have been carefully going through the thousands of free books and am working on building a nice little iphone library. I LOVE MY iPHONE!!!!

Hero of Sparta
Don't forget to check the combos, the game gets much less boring once you realize they exist, especially the Heaven's Fist/Heaven's Fury one (although it does remove much of the game's already rare challenge)

Who am I kidding, I already broke down and got Galcon and Toy Bot Diaries as well. I am really liking Galcon, Toy Bot Diaries, and Rolando. Hero of Sparta and Days of Thunder are visually impressive but I don't totally love either one (yet) but they are growing on me.

The total for those 5 games is $22 dollars which is a friggin' bargain when you consider what you have to pay for DS and PSP games. Earlier in this thread I talked about how I was considering selling my PSP and DS and use an iPhone as my primary portable gaming device. As of right now I can say that I am totally happy with that decision.

You definitely get bang for you buck with the iphone as most of the good games are $5.99 or below.

Galcon also has a very fun online mode. Something more iphone games should have.

:)
The appstore is a bitch.
I got my iphone friday, since then I bought Crayon physics, Rolando, Enigmo, Path Tracker, Guitar(kinda 'meh' this one) and Guitar Toolkit(this one is pretty good, a nice chromatic tuner, a metronome and a wide library of chords and scales).
Rolando is my favourite right now, I love the art style and the music, and it's really easy to pick up and play for a couple of minutes.
