Oh my goodness. So I am sure you don't have them all installed at the same time on one device since you would have about 15 pages for games alone lol
It's why I need to be jailbroken so I can organize them into folders. That's how many I have installed right now, but there's a actually bunch more sitting in iTunes that I don't particularly care about/take up too much space.

So i Love Katamari....consensus of it on the 3Gs? Been wanting to play Katamari on the go but was kinda put off when it came out due to frame rate and control issues. Is it worth getting now?

The game was worth the money before, but now with the 3Gs and all of the updates the game is absolutely worth the money, especially if you're a fan of the games. I love being able to have Katamari with me everywhere I go, and a lot of my friends get really excited when I hand them my phone without saying anything and then they realize it's Katamari, but mobile!

<3 u, iPhone.

It's pretty smooth on a 3Gs. I'd say it ranges from 20fps-40fps, depending on what's on screen at the time. Either way, it's playable, but the controls aren't as tight its console counterpart.

Still, what is it, like 5 bucks now? Worth it.

anyone know if WarMen is any good?

Go to the Apps tab in iTunes - not the iPhone one - and the highlight them and press the delete key.

Dammit, I'm so dumb, I'd forgotten I could even do that…

If it's not too much bother could people help me out. I just ordered my iPhone 3GS and would like some game recomendations.... What are the must haves?

Meteor Blitz. Fun little shooter. Pew pew! Pew!

Pew.

Did the developer that did Heavy Mach release anything new? As unfinished as that game was, it was pretty cool and gave me hope in terms of the iPhone's 2D capabilities.

What about the guy that did Space Deadbeef? Anything new?

Looks like there is an update for PandoraBox that changes the UI, fixes some bugs, adds the ability to remove/filter out specific developer names, and STILL DOESN'T ADD PUSH. :P

Jesus they really don't get it.

The UI is fine.

Putting up with the New Releases page being spammed by a guy releasing 029384023 copies of the same game or that one guy's Sokoban game that changes price every single day is fine.

I'd just rather not have to launch the program at all!

Makes me hate alchemize even more. I don't see what this proves except gain them some fame.

picked up Inherit the Earth, a point and click from back in the win 95 days. I bought i then, but never played more than a few minutes in.

I am actually surprised how well the interface works on the iphone. They have direct touch, where your finger is the cursor, and a seperate (I think better) mode, where there is an embedded cursor on screen, and anywhere you touch and drag influences the direction the cursor goes. Very easy to hit specific text options and select objects without your big clumsy finger selecting something next to it instead. Looks good too!!!

I will probably pick up Simon the Sorceror too, after I beat this one.

I dunno, it seems they are just trying to make a point that the economies of iPhone development have gotten too harsh for smaller developers. I may be speaking out of turn though, as I don't really know the quality of their title or the history of the dev.

But what is that point? When has it been a good idea for a company to protest the complaints of the customer base? It's for exposure pure and simple.

Think about it. People complain about apple hardware being overpriced everysingle day, but you don't see Apple protesting about it. What would people think if apple raised the price of their computers by ten fold for a weekend? Yeah that'll show the naysayers ( not). It proves nothing except that the company are whiny cry babies.

Their point seems to be "quit bitching or we will fuck you even harder" to which I say no sir, fuck you.

The way I see it, they are not protesting their customer base, they are protesting the whining of people who will never be part of a profitable userbase. Maybe its because I just came from the World of Goo deal thread where roughly 50% of GAF, when given the choice between paying a dollar and 1c for a high quality game by independent developers, will choose 1c, but I sympathize somewhat with the developers on this one.

I was thinking it was more "If you continuously drive down the market value of a commodity then eventually it will be worthless and will no longer be available to you".

I think you're underestimating the amount of rage generated by Tank Wars - Bluetooth Battle price changes. It's also possible that games aren't the target of the update; for all I know there could be a company in the lifestyle app category that's Sokoban'ing 100 different "find a <x type> date" programs.

Although I think what really bugs me is seeing blatant, cheap copyright infringement every few days and Apple apparently doing nothing about it.
I was thinking it was more "If you continuously drive down the market value of a commodity then eventually it will be worthless and will no longer be available to you".
Not that the people emailing the company complaining are particularly worthy of defense, but raising the price in protest to those people is a meaningless gesture. The App Store is still set up in a way that creates a demand for cheap products at cheap prices, and until that changes there's no purpose to telling whiny people that they should pay more.

If devs don't like it then they need to make products for a different market, at least until the App Store changes or experiences a bubble burst.

Hey guys, i have a problem with Tap Tap Revenge [1].

Thanks I'll look into this. Btw, Beneath a Steel Sky is probably the best P&C on the iphone so far (Interface and game, imho. You should check it out if you haven't

By the way, TTR 3 is pretty cool. [except for the fact you can't change your Avatar skin or face once created -_-]

Any way to add some of you GAF guys to the friends list in it?

Just got review copy for hook champ, I'm gonna try to do a preview asap before we publish the review

Also just found out we will have the first interview with Rocket Cat Games the devs for Hook Champ!

Hey guys..I'm up in Canada and just opened up a US ITunes account to purchase games...would the Best Buy Itunes Gift Card be the cheaper ITunes gift card option or can I buy ITunes Store Gift Card somewhere else for cheap. Just wanna buy something in the US store. Tired of Apple shafting Canada with shoddy products, songs and applications compared to the US I-Tunes store.
I think I heard Best Buy is having a deal on the cards, like $50 credit for $40? Otherwise if you have a Costco membership they have $60 for $56 or something.

I heard in Canada the iTunes cards don't work on the app store, just music, but I don't know how it works out if you're using a US account or if it's card specific or what. Just something to look into/watch out for.

Question though, how is Super Monkey Ball? I've heard the controls are iffy, but if they are managable I'm sure I'd get a lot of play time out of it
I considered them manageable, others couldn't get a handle on it at all. On the plus side it runs well on all the hardware. Loads pretty quickly, looks good, has a bunch of polish, etc.

I figure they get publicity out of it. The whiners likely weren't going to buy at anything other than 99 cents so big deal for them, for everyone else that's willing to pay over 99 cents (gasp!) they might check it out and wait for the price to go back to regular levels if they think they'd like it.

Soosiz is absolutely incredible. Remember that crazy fan-made video that showed Mario galaxy done in 2d? Well, this is that game. You have to play this. Production values are through the roof as well.

And it's Only 2.99.

It's so damn good it's almost new thread worthy to let people know this thing exists.

It's not as deep or varied as SMG, but it's absolutely a blast. We've all bought it here in the office, makes for a nice distraction from coding ERPs. :D

I love the iPhone for games like this -- low price, fresh concept, fun.

Just wanted to say that Critter Crunch was a big hit with my wife. It may be a bit short in adventure mode as she has now completed that mode, but she really enjoyed it. I hope that a Critter Crunch 2 is in the works.

Interesting bit of information just passed my desk so I thought I'd share. Apple just sent an email out to developers stating Free Apps can now have in App purchases.

Discuss.

It was only a matter of time. Apple needed to budge on this IMO. Games making money through microtransactions should have free clients.

Also, hopefully Amazon can build book selling directly into the Kindle app now.

It might help reduce the amount of 'lite' games out there. Actually have a demo within a full version that can be unlocked with an in-app purchase, ala XBLA.

I think this also means the app store can now offer demos of products. instead of a separate lite version and a paid version, the lite version could be upgraded to the pay version via the in-app purchase.

there might be limitations here though depending on what the in-app purchase is allowed to do with the code of the original free app. it might be ok to add levels but not to change how the entire app works on a more basic level

Since my thoughts echo pretty much everything stated so far, I won't regurgitate. However, I will add that I think this is the first step to a true 'Pay for Play' system. Something that's been sorely needed in gaming, and not just iPhone games.

It's long been my thought that an arbitrary price tag of x dollars at retail hurts more games than it helps. I would have no problem paying $60+ for games that hold my attention for longer than I feel I've gotten my monies worth, thus supporting those developers who've made, what i feel is, quality entertainment.

I'm not saying it needs to go to extremes. I think there should most certainly be a cap on how much anyone can pay for any one title.. but at the end of the day, when I spend more time playing a game like Pixel Junk Monsters than most of my $60 boxed titles I start to wonder what went wrong.

Okay, a little help. I saw some dude playing something on the train, 3/4 overhead view, gold floor with a red carpet setting, thumbstick controls and something like spells on the other side, five buttons; looked like RPG elements?

Any ideas what it was?

Ok if anyone can put me out of my misery I would be eternally grateful.

Ive only had the iPhone for around 2 weeks, and all of a sudden the battery now completely drains over night. It will be basically fully charged then I wake up and its powered down because of a low batt.

Would this be caused by any games or anything? Is it possible I left a game in stand by mode or something?

Which brings me to me next problem...

I cant even check the game because now of my apps will boot up. Ill select one and it starts to load then quits back to the main iPhone screen.

Anyone know what the fuck is going on? Do I have to delete and re-install all my apps? And can I redownload the ones I paid for for free?

First, do you have push turned on? Second, why aren't you leaving it plugged into the charger overnight?

Ngmoco has announced that their much anticipated first person shooter Eliminate will be free in light of Apple's announcement that free apps can now offer in-app purchases.

More details are said to be following, but Ngmoco has long announced that Eliminate would carry in-app purchases for energy that allows players to earn additional credits. Every player gets a certain auto-renewable source of energy, but once depleted, to earn more credits the player must either 1) wait a certain amount of time for your energy to recharge or 2) purchase more energy. If you don't care about credits, you may also continue to play but simply be ineligible to earn credits during those games. Credits are used for equipment upgrades and leveling up. We had a hands on with the game earlier this month.

Based on comments by Ngmoco about the "aggressive" pricing of Eliminate, we long suspected that Ngmoco planned on making the bulk of its income in these in-app purchases. The move to a completely free game would expose Eliminate to a much larger audience of potential customers and also remove the issue of having a large enough user base to support an online multiplayer game.

Yeah I should really leave it plugged in. But I shouldnt NEED to at this early stage in its life.

FWIW I actually did have push turned on. (thats where it automatically checks for new mail every certain amount of time right?) Thing is though it never seemed to do that. I only got new mail when I manually checked.

Anyway, its off now.

Also I fixed the apps with a method I found on the official forums. Delete a free app, then redownload it. After that all apps suddenly work fine.

Incidentially, if that didnt work, could I just restore from iTunes and all my paid apps would work? I know its says 'backing up iphone' when I use iTUnes, but when I check the apps in my itunes UI I dont see any of the ones I bought.

ahhh. Good times.
