I'm more a Hot Shots person and have to say I much prefer Let's Golf to Tiger Woods. That might also be because its easier to play on a commute due to the implementation of the touch controls (3 click swing to slide swing)Dilbert said:Just wanted to say that MiniSquadron is awesome. I forget who said that it was like an amped-up version of the classic PC game Sopwith Camel, but that's pretty much right. It's a blast going back and retrying stages with new aircraft to see how that affects things.
Also, how is the Tiger Woods game for iPhone? Keep in mind that I love Hot Shots Golf for PSP and have never played a Tiger Woods golf game before. Will the controls drive me nuts? Does it chew battery? How many courses are in it?
Thanks, I will check those out. I do actually have Word Ace but I rarely get to play it since I have a Touch and not a Phone and the vs. CPU is obviously not the game's strong suit.biggyfries said:Astro, nice to see you outside the Boardgame thread. :lol

-Love PopCap-type games that are bite-size but deceptively deep. Probably wouldn't go for any of the actual PopCap titles though unless they have new features (I got Lumines because of the new skins and the challenge of the control scheme).
-Bonus if there are silly things to strive for like Achievements and awards. Or some other persistent rewards.
-Not a fan of tower defense.
-Not a fan of story-based games or platformers.
Wow I never realised, dunno if I will bother playing it again after losing my save of all things...Benedict said:No, that was part of the update...
As was removing some game options that was part of the game before the update and you now have to buy as a separate add-on.
Even though you paid for it already as it was part of the game before the update.
Big fucking scam/rip-off by Trip Hawkins and Digital Chocolate.
Edit: And something that really pisses me off is that they use reviews from IGN and other places as a selling point in their description in the App-store.
Which would be OK if they had not changed the game so much after the reviews.
Sometimes remakes makes things worse, they never needed to add shit talking adverts to driver, of all games...RelentlessRolento said:Driver has radio stations now? I kinda wish it didnt honestly...

Check out Eliminate by ngmoco. They pretty much cloned what's good about Xbox Live on the iPhone.
Porthos said:I just got an iPhone last week and have already purchased Bejeweled 2 and Mini Squadron (recommended by this thread).
I like Tower Defense games, and would like to purchase one set path game and one open path game. I've narrowed it down to this list after some research:
Set Path:
Geodefense - Enjoyed the lite version a lot
The Creeps - Seen it recommend in this thread a few times
7 Cities - Also seen it recommended a few times
Open Path
Geodefense Swarm - Thinking I'll get one of the Geodefense games as I like the style, but which one?
Fieldrunners - Seems to be the standard choice, but it costs more than others and is older
Tower Madness - It's free, but is it better to pay for one of the above?
Any others? Star Defense and the Zombie one also look like interesting twists that I might consider along with two from the above lists. Also, is Pocket God recommended here? It looks like it could be fun.
I guess the main question is Geodefense regular or swarm? I'm leaning towards Swarm and The Creeps right now.
Costanza said:Apparently Edge was taken off the store again by Apple, Mobigame had to put it back up as a completely new app called "Edgy", so those of us who already bought it are fucked out of getting updates or being able to redownload it. Fuck you, Tim Langdell.
Look at the TA thread - http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=35068Mario said:I am pretty sure you can change the name of the app without having to upload it as a seperate app. You just can't change the name without uploading a whole new build and putting it through the resubmission process. Your ability to update shouldn't be affected.
Edit: yes, I just checked the dev control panel, and you can change the name with a new build submission. You are fine.
Costanza said:Look at the TA thread - http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=35068
it's an entirely separate app from the original.
You can't change the name of your app when it's been forcibly pulled from the App Store.
Thanks Valis, checked those out and picked up Sky Patrol so far.VALIS said:Puzzle-type games that I like:

Kids these days are so much smarter and so more lucky with all these gadgets mess around with. She can go in / out and browse for programs like nothing. Recommend me some kiddie educational games.

Thanks.. went with The Creeps and love it so far. I like the addition of the terrain to clear out and the tilt weapons are cool too for some variety.VALIS said:Yes, The Creeps for sure! It's one of the 10 best iPhone games, IMO.
For open path, check out Navy Patrol: Coastal Defense. Haven't tried it yet but it gets great word of mouth.

I'd say get both the GeoDefense games. I'd put it at number one and The Creeps at number two. Didn't get into Swarm as much though.Porthos said:Thanks.. went with The Creeps and love it so far. I like the addition of the terrain to clear out and the tilt weapons are cool too for some variety.
Now to decide between Fieldrunners and Geodefense Swarm. I'm thinking Geodefense Swarm because it is cheaper, looks great, and from what I've read, it is a challenge. I can always get Fieldrunners if I need more TD later.
I doubt they'd care too much if it doesn't affect other non jb phones/touches.Costanza said:Just a heads up for people with jailbroken phones - Super Monkey Ball 2 doesn't work unless you get an app called SwapMode from Cydia and turn on Game Mode every time you want to play it. I wish I knew this before I dropped $10 on it earlier. It's too much of an annoyance.
From what I've read (doesn't really sound correct but who knows), sbsettings and all the JB processes take up too much memory and the game won't run so SwapMode just temporarily turns everything in the background off.
This isn't something Sega would ever consider patching (just listed as "bug fixes" or something)... is it?
