All you SRPG junkies should be playing The Battle of Wesnoth.
Best one in the app store by far.

SuperPac said:Bought Pac-Man CE and I gotta say... after you get your head around the controls (and by that I mean, using both thumbs to control), it is really pretty awesome. I bought the expansion pack too and am working my way through the mission mode. The Easy missions are, as advertised, easy. But on Normal difficulty...holy crap! They're quite the challenge.
As many've said and I agree...virtual d-pads aren't great. But...I've found that Pac-Man CE is probably the best implementation of them that I've seen yet. Especially great is that the playfield is moved up so you're not actually covering much of it with your hands, unlike many games where you are.
Too bad the game doesn't have some kind of online/friends leaderboard because that would completely rule. Now I really want them to bring all this content (and more please) to the X360.![]()
japtor said:For anyone that has the Pac-Man CE w/out expansion, does it have the main 5 minute challenge from the 360 version (which is what I mainly want)? iiirc the 360 one had two challenges at 5 and 10 minutes, then three extra modes.

it's so annoying when you complete a level you get three separate dialogue boxes that you have to sequentially acknowledge.
"you completed level 23 ( easy)!"
(ok?)
"you unlocked level 23 (normal)!"
(ok?)
"you unlocked level 24 (easy)!"
(ok?)
OK ALREADY
I agree for that. Atleast it could cycle through them quickly without me having to wait for it to pop up, confirm, pop down, next one pops up etc. Sounds nitpicky, but it's my only real complaint. Easily fixable. You can just have one pop up when you first enter that mode to tell you that normal and hard challenges exist or have a toggle to go to the harder ones.SuperPac said:I agree with that. Kind of annoying. But...in terms of interface everything else in-game is simple and slick. Maybe they'll fix this one. Actually I wouldn't have known that when you replay after you finish a mission that you'd play it on a different difficulty so that's good.

Yeah if they were all in the same orientation I wouldn't be as bothered. I'm just keeping the two apps on separate pages for now.mrkgoo said:You mean the openfeint icon at all or the differing position?

I like iDracula, Minigore, and Alive 4 Ever.Easy_D said:Okay GAF, present me the best most awesome twin-stick shooters for the 'phone!
I love plus+ but lately with so many games getting open feint I feel like I should join in and buy some more games with it, right now my ipod defaulted me to "knightsonrush2085209523" or something :lol may have to create a profile for myself.VALIS said:I've seen the logo in all four corners of icons. I like it, though. I am far more willing to buy a game with OpenFeint than not. Agon, too, but OpenFeint is becoming the standard.
edit: PS - My OpenFeint is VALIS, ya'll should add me.
Hm, while iDracula currently seems to offer more, Minigore seems like it'll get a steady stream of updates with added content. Both look great though.Psy-Phi said:I like iDracula, Minigore, and Alive 4 Ever.
They're not exactly GeoWars type twin stick shooters if that's what you're looking for; but they're all fun (none have left my phone since they've been installed). iDracula and Alive 4 Ever were much more robust than Minigore, and still are. But the latest update to Minigore is great. And it's simplicity is part of it's charm.
iDracula has you shooting all manner of monsters from giant worms, to werewolves and zombies. And of course Vampires. Weapon upgrades that are not persistent (in the modes I play, maybe there are in others?) from play to play. Probably the biggest selection of weapons in these three, pistols, crossbows, grenade launchers, flame throwsers, and a couple of crazy weapons that look like they're from Dr. Frankenstein.... it has various levels to try, and objects do have collision.
Alive 4 Ever is like a Left 4 Dead rip off, top down view, multiplayer (which is fun), RPG-like leveling system for your skills, and weapon upgrades that are persistent, like L4D, it's got hand guns, rifles, grenade launchers, and sniper rifles. Collision in this game too. Sucks when you are under a tree and hit it, or if you're under a tree and a zombie dog bites you (you'll lose health before you realize you're being assaulted).
Minigore is an isometric top down shooter like iDracula, and has had the most updates of these 3 I think? And more coming. They just added skins for your player (some you ahve to pay for but most come free with kills). Santa's in it. Your primary weapon is still the machine-gun, but there's a grenade launcher and shotgun you can get in boxes. No other upgrades I've found (I usually shoot the boxes for their 360 degree attack. No Collision in this one. Only 1 map too. But the recent update made it go from dusk to night and these bouncing dragon things come out after you for a bit of a change of pace from the furry things).
Really I'd suggest all three. iDracula was a steal at 99 cents and Alive 4 Ever was as well. Minigore took a while to feel worth it but it's come into it's own. Not sure what their prices are now.

Yeah, I actually bought it a while ago. It's got a relatively huge install, but it's soooo slick, and very pretty. I recommend it.enzo_gt said:Todays Appvent Calendar game is amazing. The blimp one. So simple yet sooooooooo goooooooooood.
Defender Chronicles is worth $20. I've put 20-40 hours in so far.Kryten said:Defender Chronicles has had a temporary price drop to USD$2.99 (less than 24 hours after I paid full price for it, heh).

To partially answer myself (cause I'm a sucker and bought the game + expansion already), the original championship level isn't the first one here. I've only played the 1st championship level here and the layouts (both maps and dot distribution) seem at the least tweaked quite a bit if not just changed entirely.japtor said:For anyone that has the Pac-Man CE w/out expansion, does it have the main 5 minute challenge from the 360 version (which is what I mainly want)? iiirc the 360 one had two challenges at 5 and 10 minutes, then three extra modes.
I agree, at first i bought the basic after i finished all the missions and championship level i got the DLC.SuperPac said:Bought Pac-Man CE and I gotta say... after you get your head around the controls (and by that I mean, using both thumbs to control), it is really pretty awesome.
