Really, really enjoying Espgaluda II. I wouldn't imagine it but I'm seriously gaming more and more on my Iphone with each passing day. Nabbed up Chaos Rings, played through with the first pair of characters, gonna hit up the others too, then after much thought I picked up Espgaluda II and wow, mind blown..such a good game, and my first Cave game haha. That, Chaos Rings, Angry Birds, Pix'n'Rush..its a pretty solid lineup to fight boredom lol..just wanted to extend my thanks to many of you here for some pretty great recommendations.

P.S: Also..I stumbled across a Castlevania Puzzle RPG based of SoTN??..I'm so hoping it hits US stores..it piqued my interest.

Espgaluda is incredible. Only complaint I have is that sometimes the guard barrier/awakening buttons seem unresponsive, either that or they need to be pressed really precisely or something... It's causing me to often die just because nothing happened while I did try to press them.

Any news on when Mirror's Edge is coming out on iPhone? I've been looking forward to it for ages and thought it was already out, but that's the iPad version.

So I've stopped following the iPhone gaming scene for close to a year now because I have a 2G and feel like it's now too crap to game on :lol

Now that i'm upgrading my iPhone I'd like to get back in. Chaos Rings looks very interesting and a portable version of Street Fighter 4 seems like a must buy.

Are there any must have games anyone can recommend? Thanks.

Not exactly video gaming related but does anyone use their iPhone/iPad for tabletop dungeons and dragons? I'm looking for a good mapping tool to replace minis and something to keep track of combat and character status. Anyone have any app recommendations?

Yeah I can see what you mean there, hopefully they will make some minor changes down the road to make those commands more responsive, its especially crucial when your under pressure. Even so though, a great experience all and all..its good to see Cave will be bringing more than that to the Iphone gaming scene in the near future!

My current goto games are Flick Kick Football (or Rugby, Field Goal if you prefer other sports), Fruit Ninja, Tumbledrop, Lux DLX (a risk clone), Plants Vs Zombies and Broken Sword - gives a nice range of genres

Definitely Chaos Rings, you'll most likely be in for a pretty pleasant surprise just like I was..well worth it, the price reflects the potentially deep game, in a nutshell lol.

Doodle Jump is another good one, so is Angry Birds for those addictive yet quick fixes for when your on the go, oh and Pix'n'Rush as well. The most amazing thing is those games are $1 each..can't go wrong!

Oh, I'm sorry. I now realize it's not absurd of me to have to read 200 pages.

No, what should really happen is that every six months or so, a new thread should be made, and the old one locked. On the first couple of pages, people could post their top ten iPhone games. Problem solved, best of both worlds.

I really don't see what's wrong with this thread. Whenever I'm looking for a new game I just look back a few pages. Do we really need multiple threads in the OT and here? I mean, this is the iPhone gaming thread. All we do is recommend and talk about games here. :lol

It would be nice if someone who follows this thread closely created a list of recommended games, updated it regularly, and posted it every few pages.

Thanks guys, will look into those games.

Just bought Chaos Rings and playing it now on my 2G. It's laggy but I just couldn't wait to play it. Only issue is if my save game can transfer to the new iPhone.

Sorry I guess?

I really didn't want to read through near a years worth of posts.

I've been lurking this thread for a while and have come across a lot of Chaos Rings enthusiasts. I'm in the market for a new RPG or RPG-esque type game that isn't CR.

Any close seconds off the top of anyones heads?

Yeah; that list is rather intimidating but it does give a nice range of games for all kinds of prices.

When I got my iphone I initially jumped onto the games section in the app store and just grabbed the top 50 games - it gives a nice selection of lite versions and some very good free games (and a ton of crap games too). From there I whittled it down to the 5 games I actually played more than twice and looked for similar games to those.

Also I also heartily recommend grabbing the games made by other guys on gaf; as some are absolutely superb

Another intimidating list then! The GAF spreadsheet posted a while back:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tXAjM8mynEwXGQAebkD6q-A

I made a fancy DB with all the data, although the small details may be off, all the games and names should be there though:
http://creator.zoho.com/japtor/igames/
(I should probably just start over some time cause I didn't plan on the iPad and retina and etc new crap. Or just remove the small details like the spreadsheet did)

Modern Combat: Sandstorm is on sale for $0.99.

Also, it looks like Let's Golf 2 will release any day now. Speaking of golf, whatever happened to Tiger Woods 11? I assume they pushed it back to redo the assets for an "HD" iPhone 4 version like NCAA 11.

Ice Monkey, I'd suggest adding Reign of Swords II to that list.

I'd also suggest Neo Nectaris but it's more for hardcore tactics fans not your average gamer.

The amount of iPhone games in general is intimidating... I've probably filled up my iPod many times over and I've only been downloading stuff if it's free. And plus the thread I linked to in my last post in this thread is even more intimidating than that list.

Finally ran into a game I can't play that I really want to on my 2G touch. Game is called Stack & Deploy and is supposedly TCG with RTS spaceship elements or something. It's free if anyone wants to let me know what I'm missing out on.

Sort of sucks, since mine isn't even a year old, but guess thems the works.

EDIT

Holy shit check out the ad @ www.stackanddeploy.com :lol :lol

Just got an iPhone 4 to replace my 3G. I'm anxious to finally try Espgaluda II, but are there any other good games exclusive to (or almost unplayable on anything other than...) 3GS & 4?

I mean, shit...I'm already noticing a difference. Stuff like Ridge Racer is buttery smooth, no menu lag now. Stuff loads almost instantly. Well worth the considerable outlay! The display is unbelievable.

What's the difference between Galcon and Galcon Labs?
The price of Galcon has been dropped to the same as Galcon Labs now, $0.99.
Should I get either of them?

Im not sure but I think galcon is the original while galcon labs has all the new galcon modes that galcon fusion brought to ipad.

I think Galcon Labs came out last year and Galcon Fusion came out this year, so wouldn't it be the other way around? Also I don't think all the modes are exactly the same between the two.

That's pretty much what I meant. It just got jumbled because I first was exposed to galcon back when the 3G just came out, then got exposed again when I got my ipad. Never even tried labs.

This post inspired me to check how much Espgaluda cost on the store, whereupon I noticed there was a Lite version available. (a) It runs amazingly on the iPhone 4 and (b) I am super impressed with how well it controls. A bullet hell shooter that isn't terrible to play on the iPhone? Blew my mind. I've never played the original, but I'm sure iPhone mode makes serious concessions as far as difficulty goes, but if changes were made they don't slap you across the face with them. Damn good stuff.

Any good point and click games on the iPhone?

I only know Monkey Island: SE, Monkey Island 2, Broken Sword, Simon the Sorcerer, Beneath the Steel Sky, and Myst (is it point and click?).

Capcom's running a sale on a bunch of their titles for Comic Con.

We’ve dropped the price on our most popular iPhone games in celebration of the awesomeness that is Comic Con.

Street Fighter IV $9.99 => $6.99

Resident Evil DEGENERATION $4.99 => $2.99

Resident Evil 4 $4.99 => $2.99

Resident Evil 4 iPad Edition $6.99 => $2.99

Phoenix Wright $4.99 => $2.99

1942: Joint Strike $2.99 => $.99

Mega Man II $2.99=> $.99

Dark Void Zero $2.99=> $.99

Are You Smarter Than A 5TH Grader? 2010 $1.99 => $.99

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire 2010 $1.99 => $.99

Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil DEGENERATION, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 4 iPad Edition and Phoenix Wright will only be on sale until the 25th.
Get ‘em before they go back to full price.

Anyone know how Dark Void Zero plays on the phone? Is the virtual d-pad particularly bad? Can you retain proper aspect ratio instead of stretching it out and skewing the sprites?

Anyone know how Chaos Rings looks on the iPhone 4 display? I have to imagine it could look a lot better since they released an HD version for iPad. Is everything fuzzy, or just the text?

Very light fuzz, text is fine.

Thoughts on the rest of Square's iPhone library anyone?

I know Chaos Rings is supposed to be worth the price, but Square titles seem to demand a decent premium. Here's what I see on iTunes:

Final Fantasy I & II (these look to be the enhanced PSP versions?)
Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes
Hill and Rivers Remain
Crystal Defenders
