Is there a GAF L4D steam group?

Is there a 360 L4D buddy club of special friends?

I have both versions.
I wouldn't say it's a list that consists entirely out of "special friends", but you should add NeoGAFL4D if you want to partner up with (assumingly) like-minded GAF'ers.

I'm hooked on versus mode. Love being the infected. Haven't done Campaign Mode since. I wouldn't mind going through campaigns with some gaffers but at this point I feel like I'd definitely be the weak link of the group if I did considering everyone has seemingly mastered expert mode already.

Meh, you'd be fine. Campaign seems so much easier after playing Versus against good infected.

Does anybody play on Advanced any more? I need to beat the final level (Blood Harvest I think) and I need some people to carry me through (On Steam). Tgd2k1 on Steam if you wanna fight the good, slightly less impressive than Expert fight.

So this group of friends has no benefits?

I wish I could play with you guys. Being away from my PC can be so painful sometimes.

I try to log out of Friends and then play this game, but it logs me back in so everyone can see that I'm playing. Anyone know a way to appear offline while still playing the game? I change my status to offline, but it reverts back as soon as I join a lobby or enter a server.

Its not that I dont enjoy playing with my friends, its just that my practice of joining a VS game and leaving after my zombie round is over is hard to coordinate when it is more than just me involved

We just sailed through Dead Air in an hour and a half on expert, with the same team is had taken us 3 hours to reach the final chapter in the past. Did we just get a lot more organised or do some admins fart around with the difficulty settings? If so, I demand a modded server filter.

Are you positive it wasn't on advanced? There seems to be a glitch, in the PC version at least, where the it'll occasionally change the difficulty on you when you start a game up. It's quite rare, but I've had it happen to me a couple times.

Versus mode is incredibly addictive ,I was able to round up enough friends last night and we played for nearly 3 hrs straight, most of them had never played versus but everyone ended up having a blast (PC ver).

Just thought i'd share a couple images from the session:

This shot looks excellent on my CRT ,the room the hunter is in is very dark, but on my bro's LCD its way over-bright (hooray for crappy black levels).

Solution: Don't be a dick and just play the damn game.

Well there's also the whole "procedural content" thing - no doubt that encountering a tank or witch in some places can be way more disastrous than others, and sometimes swarms can come in narrow spaces instead of nice open areas. I think the game by its very nature has a bit of a fluctuating difficulty, even on the same difficulty settings.

The What are you trying to prove? achievement requires that you not die on the campaigns right? I just wanna make sure that I'm not wasting my time. Confused me because other achievements have the word "survive" in them and I didn't get those until I didn't die.

By survive, it means you make it to the rescue vehicle at the end.

But I've gotten it for Death Toll, even though my teammates let me die on the dock as a decoy while they skipped and pranced their way onto the boat.

So I think it's a loose requirement.

You go through the whole campaign, without leaving, but you CAN die. I've tested it. Just make it to the end and get on the rescue vehicle, and you're good to go.

Also, FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK Blood Harvest finale.

What are you trying to prove? just got a whole lot more disappointing. It's fucking easycakes now, I feel like a fool.

Hide in the top of the barn. Easy to keep zombies out (only three entry points) and when the tank comes there is plenty of room to move and surround it.

So I learned how to make sprays with transparent backgrounds and now have something amazing.

I'm gonna try and tinker with it so the shark is more zombie-like.

We did! It's just one tiny miscalculation happened every time (this is on expert). Someone not able to dodge a flying rock, NO molotovs/gas cans to help with the tank, unintentional friendly fire, etc. So sad. :(

WOW. Just had an AWESOME Advanced run on No Mercy.

Me and one of my friends who just got the game were playing through Advanced (he hasn't even played Normal) and we couldn't beat the finale. So 3 of the 4 of us stayed on the first roof, where the ladder to go back down to the saferoom leads. The 4th guy ran and placed propane tanks/gas cans all around, healed up, and called in the chopper.

We tried to cover the 4th guy as long as possible, but he inevitably dies. As the first tank approaches we unload on him but sadly our Francis gets knocked off of the first roof onto the normal roof by the tank. While the tank runs off to finish Francis off me and my buddy run back down the 2 ladders and back to the saferoom. We hold out there for a bit, then move to the long hallway and take out incoming hordes with our sniper rifles.

The 2nd tank now comes, and we book it back down to the saferoom, and the tank incapacitates my buddy, and I leave him to run back to the roof. The tank stays and kills him, while I'm waiting on the roof. Then, when the tank is climbing up the ladder I just stood ontop of the opening and he can't move. at all. That's right bitches, 1 vs 1 against a Tank and I took him out with pistols. The glitch (I guess?) prevents him from moving, and the infected don't just "back off" of the person they are going after, especially a tank, so he won't go back down the ladder either. After like 5 damn minutes of pistol headshots he dies, the chopper arives, and I jump to safety.

tl;dr
Finale of No Mercy go back to the safe room.

It's up really really high because I just wanted to see what it would look like there and I've been pretty lazy on setting it back down to normal levels which doesn't look like that at all.

Dead Air and Blood Harvest finales are still brutal, ESPECIALLY IF THE DIRECTOR DOESN'T GIVE YOU ANYTHING TO FIGHT THE TANKS WITH >:O

Ah, so that's what it does look like maxed. Still :(

I had it off during the demo.

So, do you have to do the expert campaigns in one sitting? I was on the finale of No Mercy with one other person for a few hours and just had to stop there, it would be SIMPLE if I just had another person, but I set it to offline co-op and couldn't change it or invite people...

Was in Death Toll with some friends, and we saw something new. A Tank batted an entire forklift at us, incapacitating Zoey instantly :lol .

Setting it at half the default setting is really good if you want it subtle. Invisible in lighter areas, but adds detail to the darker ones.

Don't forget Twig's attempts to sabotage you by alt-tabbing.

I'm now 3/4 on the expert campaigns, some guy died on Dead Air as were going up the plane ramp because of a few stray zombies :lol

Mmm, I dislike the pure blacks in the game, I'll probably do that.

Yeah, I too had this happen to me. I was killed near the boat pathway by a tank and I still ended up getting the Toll Collector Achievement :)

Is there a progression of difficulty through the 4 campaigns, or are they all of equal difficulty? I hear a lot of bitching about Blood Harvest. :lol

IMO, Dead Air and Blood Harvest are much harder.

We have had this glitch a number of times, it's pretty annoying, but it definitely wasn't that. We check the difficulty every time a map loads just in case.

There were just so few deaths, it didn't seem right. Although, even though we had some pretty bad witch placements we managed to skip all of them, the tanks were as brutal as ever, but we really did get our shit together when they showed up. We had tight defenses on all the scripted events, we looked after each other and no one got pulled by a smoker.

We were on form, but 1:30 for Dead Air? When in the past we had spent over 3 hours and didn't even reach the final chapter. As for the final chapter, we did it on our 2nd try (none of use had ever seen it before). Also, the common infected count seemed quite low, I don't remember what the total was, but I had the most kills and I got something like 700/800, I usually get considerably more (EDIT: Actually, working out my average that sounds about right for 1:30, maybe we really just got it together).

Beat two on expert now. Last one on Death Toll was hilarious... we hold up in the closets, kill the first tank then we get up to the second but it's only me and the other guy left because a smoker got the third alive guy. They had planted a fuel tank at the end of the pier so we could stop the zombie horde from coming as the boat arrived, but i didn't know that... so i was shooting incoming zombies and lit the tank, killing the second guy and making me the only survivor to escape

Sucks that we ran out of steam right when we started to get in the groove of things. Oh well, it's a new day and I'm already willing to try again. :lol
