Well after trying the patch it seems like they've fixed some things, like the ramp and smoker insta-kill on NM5 but not others like the crescendo event on NM3.

Can anyone confirm if it's fixed infected moving forklifts and stuff? I haven't seen it happen yet.

I'm pretty sure they did fix moving forklifts. I tried hitting one to find out, and it didn't seem to be moving.

LOL that gif is awesome, Can't stop laughing at Bill, him running across looks like he was on his bike to GTFO.

Also it looks like Lois hit the wall, door closed after the fail throw. Might have been Lois him self? thinking, throw the molly then close the door fast. :lol

Holy crap Volc, what did I do to you?

The sniper rifle's my favorite weapon in the game, pretty much. Unfortunately, with some teams I play with, I get told to use a different weapon because the other ones are better. My favorite is trying to be good with the sniper, though, since I think it's fun. I just wish it was better in comparison.
I haven't had a group bitch at me yet, but I haven't played PC in a while. I'm sure they will when I start back though.

And, I'm pretty sure Volc's just messing with you, Blizz. :D

I have had that happen so many times. Once, when we were in that little room in DT4 (The small off shoot room from the train yard that occasionally has health), I got down by a hunter while carrying a gas tank. The AI controlled Francis, lets loose with a quick series of shot gun blasts, knocking the hunter off but exploding the gas tank, turning our room into a ball of hot death. Eavery single one of us died.

I have to ask... The other night, yourself, Pop, Gore and I all burned to death in that room from our own molotovs, twice I think. Is this GIF new? Did you all kill yourselves in the same way, in the same room for a third time this week?

Hahah, prior to playing DA with you guys, Red was playing DT with myself and a couple of friends, and everyone except me managed to burn themselves to death in the tunnels thanks to a bizarre gas can incident. Is this a habit of yours, Red?

Thanks for the run, though. I had a really good time.

I disagree. The stopping power of the hunting rifle isn't something to be trifled with. It can down most standard zombies in a single hit, has fantastic range, a good rate of fire, and quick reload time, and a sizable clip. I've also heard that it can shoot through walls. When I'm playing the PC version, it's my weapon of choice and is good for every situation except for fighting the tank. For some reason, it really sucks for that. In my mind, it's a good level weapon, but should probably be swapped when you reach the finale.

Edit: Finally beat Dead Air on 360 tonight. As I haven't been lurking this thread as much as I used to, I didn't realize there was a little closet in the back of the map. Getting everyone in there made the map absolute cake, as the zombies all ended up coming from one location, and the Tank always had a huge distance to travel to get to us. We did lose our Zoey to the last Tank, and I almost feel on the rush to the plane, but all in all, much easier than fighting out in the open.
I've been using the sniper lately in campaign just to make stuff harder. It's basically worse than the AR unless you have a huge distance.

Here's what I find from it:
1) stopping power of a single hunting rifle shot is similar to an autoshotgun blast, but without the spread (which makes it weaker overall).
2) it's highly inaccurate if you move: even shooting something in my expanded crosshair will miss most of the time, while with the AR I can move and shoot just fine. It's not impossible to run and shoot with the sniper, but it just sucks compared to the AR.
3) accuracy is awesome crouched, but this slows down your team if you're always crouchwalking everywhere. But when you have to camp? It's awesome for crouching, scoped, and you can keep most of an area locked down.
4) the penetration works but only on regular zombies lined directly behind each other. I've double headshotted zombies, but any hit from the sniper is death to regular zombies. This actually gives it really good horde-clearing capabilities, and excellent boomer killing capabilities, but it's awful for hunters/smokers, except...
5) if you can headshot a hunter/smoker and catch them right in the face, it's almost instagib.

It's not a bad weapon in the right situations (especially any crescendo with some distance), but they need to make it better. Right now the AR is better than it at everything except extreme long range sniping, which is pretty pointless because there's almost no point to extreme long range sniping in the game. It needs some work, but the problem is I don't know how Valve can make it easier to use without overpowering it. Because it really does do about as much damage/hit as the AS, but at longer range. The problem is the AS is good at clearing crowds and killing hunters/smokers/tanks, while the sniper is good at clearing crowds and killing boomers (too much running against tanks to make it worthwhile for that) and the AS can kill boomers pretty easily, too.

You can still move the forklift to block the warehouse door on NM3.

So, an effective use of the sniper riffle, is to grab one for holding down the fort during a crescendo event, probably concentrating on locating boomers, while at any other time having an AR. Or just keeping an AR.

Yeah, i agree that they need to improve it. I think tightening its accuracy during movement would do the weapon a lot of good.

I suspect this and stuff like this might require the maps themselves to be updated, which exceeds Xbox Live's patch guidelines. It'll probably have to wait until the Survival Pack.

If they at least got rid of the random inaccuracy while moving and made it more fair, it'd be better. Or even make it have the same inaccuracy while moving as the AR does. because then it's a good tradeoff between sniper and AR, as the AR still has faster reload, firing rate and a bigger clip, but the sniper has higher damage/bullet and better stopping power (and less need to headshot everything).

another thing I forgot to include: don't fire multiple shots as fast as you can. The best thing to do is fire one, wait like half a second for your crosshair to go back to perfect accuracy, then fire again. You'll almost never miss.

Oh, and one buff they could give the sniper without it really being a "buff" is more obvious death animations for zombies when you don't blow off their head/limbs. I can't count the times me/my teammates waste some bullets on enemies already dead because of their stupid slow falling/still running while dead animations. If the sniper just pushed zombies it kills back like the AS does, that'd make it better, too.

Through my perspective, I started my throw with the reticule aimed out an open door. The door slams in my face. The mol bounces off of it and twirls to the center of the room.

It looks a little different through Bulleta's perspective, maybe due to netcode delay? Which would prove she closed the door... GUILTY!

In short, I didn't hit no wall!

Yeah, those were from last night. When we played, I tried to throw my molly through the hole in the door.

1) stopping power of a single hunting rifle shot is similar to an autoshotgun blast, but without the spread (which makes it weaker overall).

I like not having the shot spread. For example, maybe the shotgun can take out 4 zombies that are close together in one shot, that's great. I don't mind shooting 3-4 shots quickly to accurately take all of them out with the sniper though. Not having a spread is very helpful in close quarters or where zombies are near other players. When one of my teammates gets boomered, I can safely, close or at a distance, pick out all the zombies behind or around that person, without worrying that my shot will also hit the person I'm trying to save. All that person has to do is to punch forward and find a wall/corner and I will do the rest. Same if the person is being held by a smoker. Just turn around, zoom to the smoker's head, and instant kill. No worrying that the spread will also hurt your teammate.

2) it's highly inaccurate if you move: even shooting something in my expanded crosshair will miss most of the time, while with the AR I can move and shoot just fine. It's not impossible to run and shoot with the sniper, but it just sucks compared to the AR.

The expanded crosshair makes running while shooting impossible, so don't. It only takes a second to zoom while running to slow down for less than a second and take a shot. running and doing a quick kneel also works. Once the targets have been taken out, run again and repeat. most of the time, teams don't make dashes all the way to the next safe house, so there is plenty of time to take your time and kneel+scope and snipe your way forward. This is mostly a play style preference though, I think it's better but again other people think otherwise.

3) accuracy is awesome crouched, but this slows down your team if you're always crouchwalking everywhere. But when you have to camp? It's awesome for crouching, scoped, and you can keep most of an area locked down.

Like I said above, if your team moves forward just run over to them and then either stand still and snipe or crouch and move forward+snipe. Once they go past you then just run again. With friends I'm always leading the team but with gaffers, who fight a little bit faster, I either take the middle or guard the back and have no trouble keeping up.

Agree with this but I think it's a 50/50 on hunters/smokers. IF the hunter is crawling no matter the distance it's easy to take out. Once they start jumping left and right the sniper is an awful weapon. If the smoker is still either casting or already in the process of entangling someone, it's the easiest thing in the world to quickly zoom and find the head. Or if the angle doesn't allow, at least some body part. If the smoker is moving briskly that's when i find it too hard and just wait for him to strike again.

It's not a bad weapon in the right situations (especially any crescendo with some distance), but they need to make it better. Right now the AR is better than it at everything except extreme long range sniping, which is pretty pointless because there's almost no point to extreme long range sniping in the game.
It's great for short range too. You don't have to use the scope and on zombie rushes you can mow down several infected with one shot since they are so close behind and right next to each other. At close range standing is enough. But I get what your'e saying, that all other weapons handle it more efficiently at close range and that's very true.

The only real problem that I have with the sniper rifle is how useless it is with the witch and tank at higher difficulties. It's really useless against them and those are the times where it can all go to hell. Also, if your teammates are not use to having a sniper in a team, it's easy for them to run in front of you forgetting that you have a limited view and then I headshot them. I usually just warn people that if they get in front of me to please tell me and I will do the same for them. But yeah, I think it's better than the AR, but worse than the shotgun.

Any idea if Steam will be having any specials again soon?
Really want to get back into PC gaming when my new system is finished and this sounds too fun.

It blends well with the Tank saying FUCK YOU, DON'T TALK SHIT ABOUT TOTAL, etc.

Was playing with one guy whose graphics card screwed up, but the effects were kinda cool.

sucks you can stll break the door in NM2. I tried getting Unbreakable yesterday went thro NM finished with 54 health and still didn't get it. I was given pills but didn't use them so that shouldn't count against me.
