It's so much fun reading all these comments on the update we got quite some time ago :lol

And here we are, reading their Survival comments while us PCers have to wait :lol

I only had a few goes on Survival Mode on the new lighthouse level but it didn't appeal to me all that much really. It's like an insane version of whack-a-mole. I might dip into it from time to time but I'm much more interested in the new versus maps really.

I don't understand how people consider death toll or dead air finales difficult. Maybe my team was terrible, but when I played infected on death toll using the custom map change command, the survivors could pretty much stay in the corners of the house and be immune to most danger except vomit. We managed to stall as a tank for a long time, but there's still hardly any good way for tanks or boomers to get close to the house without being in a giant open line of sight forever.

For dead air, the survivors could just always run over to the bank behind the escape plane, and there's virtually nothing anyone can do without being in direct line of sight a mile away. Boomers couldn't even climb up the plane behind them from the back, unless they changed that.

I'm a bit disappointed with Survival mode, I didn't really find much appeal to it.
There's too much chaos, and I think (having played just a few games) that it's almost impossible to play with strategy. When the timer is beyond 3 minutes, there's so many normal infected, special infected and tankS (notice the final s) that the game becomes everybody save yourselves.

And, Last stand sucks.


What I just love is being able to hit more than one survivor as a tank. Second time I became a tank, I incapped the 4 survivors and got the achievement, which I tried so many times before ending always in failure.
 
Loving Survival mode.
Got gold already on Dead Air terminal.
Getting punched off the lighthouse by a Tank to your death is quite nasty.

Watching those 360 live streams, I cannot imagine playing the game without it feeling completely chaotic every time a horde shows up. Looks like such a pain in the ass to keep your teammates in view while looking out for yourself.

The 'bank' now has a giant bashable box sitting in the middle of it. There's also a heap of luggage as cover on the approach to it, and I think you can get across the wing now as well (the plane seems closer, somehow). The inside of the Death Toll house is also completely different (no closets at all), and there are more bashable walls.

i didnt see the new vs maps on 360, and i didnt see Survival mode on the PC when i fired that version up.

whats going on?

360 got it this morning at 2am.

PC gets it whenever they want to update it on Steam, but sometime today.

This release HAS to have added some bugs. Along with having a game end after the first team's final round that I posted earlier, I was in the middle of a round and my screen went completely black for about 10 seconds, then I was on the VALVE bootup screen, what the fucking hell.

And of course Shake takes my fucking spot, and every single person I want to play with is in that game, so I'm fucked :(.

Try clearing the cache and restarting. I actually got the content, then patched and it did not show up for some reason. So you might have to restart your 360.

In Death Toll there's more bashable walls and they've moved the ammo stash, health packs and pipe bombs and stuff outside, right next to the sea, so you're risking being pulled into the sea when you go out to get them. I think Valve have learnt from No Mercy and Blood Harvest that if you have almost everything you need in one room with hardly any bashable walls or doors then it's really frustrating to play as the infected.

I have to admit I don't know the Dead Air finale too well. I think both teams just sucked because we both died before we even started the event :lol It's so open that if one of you wanders off it can really punish the whole team

Maybe they're taking out the power shot? Could they do that in the span of 24 hours?
 
just fyi, valve also have to finalise the PC update for l4d servers, on various OSes etc. it kinda makes sense it would take longer than on a standardised format using peer to peer.

If they implemented a fix today, I doubt it would come out in today's update. Not really much time for bug testing and QA. However, if they have been testing such a fix for a while, who knows.

Ah. Hopefully the patch has been done a while and they're addressing it. MS's approval process had to have held up the patch some, right? So maybe they had additional time for PC additions.

So yeah this is all pretty awesome. Survivor mode FTW :D Gotta step out for a bit, but I'll be back in about an hour for more dying if anyone is going to be around (I'm sure there will be).

So much fun, just playing with some random people and watching things just fall to pieces is awesome. Managed to get pulled by a Smoker from the top of the lighthouse then jumped on by a Hunter and then vomited on by a Boomer :lol

Was doing well on Last Stand up to around 5mins and then somehow I got stuck on a ladder, couldn't move or shot, and we died shortly after.

Well, I'm not quite sure what to make of Survivor mode. Right now my opinion is it's just really a clusterfuck that lasts a few minutes. I can't see the lasting appeal of this mode for me personally. I wish they implemented waves and break periods like Horde mode. I was playing with randoms so maybe my mind will change after playing with some GAFers tonight.

they did. You just have to kill the waves fast enough to take advantage of the break periods.
 
Since when is content locked to fucking gold members? I don't know because I've always been gold until recently. Anyone know when silver members will be able to download the update?
