5 days until Crash Course! 5 days!

Scarlet and I are planning on doing an Expert difficulty marathon consisting of No Mercy, then Crash Course, then Death Toll. Anybody else game for some marathon madness?

Count me in. Hopefully I won't get snatched through the air by the computer again on Death Toll.

So I take it there'll be lots of playing of the demo for L4D2 when it's out? I'll have to add myself to the steam users' thread and join any groups.

They're doable for the way I play (co-op with 1-2 friends, Versus with them plus randoms) and they sound like a LOT of fun. Throw 20 cars at Survivors? That is the most awesome thing ever. It also bodes well for L4D2 and I expect those Achievements to be even better

Yup.
Original L4D has way too many really hard (for me and my friends I usually game with) achievements. We can't even not shoot each other, let alone finish a campaign on expert (these two things are linked, of course :lol).

Worse thing is that the Complete 4/4 Expert achievement got bugged and erased for most people a few updates ago. (PC version)

I didn't bother trying it again and just cheated to get it back.

We actually managed the 4/4 Expert Achievement even though there was only two of us. It was insanely hard and infuriating but it was so rewarding - Blood Harvest probably took us 15+ hours altogether. One friendly fire incident is enough to ruin it and make you restart a level. Just looking at the Tank or Hunter costs 40+ health

We only have two Achievements left - no damage after alerting the rescue vehicle and no damage from Special Infected. We should be able to do both eventually

I don't know if I've ever managed a 25 damage pounce. 22 or something but I don't recall 25 ever. Hope there's lots of high buildings!

Incapacitating 3 survivors in 5 seconds actually sounds quite tricky to time, best bet is probably hitting them all with a car as the tank.

Holy crap. We don't have nearly that much time/patience.
We usually manage to get to the 3rd map without too many retries (generally 2 in the 2nd map), but then it all goes horribly wrong :lol

Well it wasn't in one go :D It was about 6-7 attempts at 2-3 hours each time. No Mercy took us about 8 hours of trying, Death Toll was easy and we did it in about 3 hours. Dead Air was a killer and took us almost as long as Blood Harvest. Getting up to the finale is easy...the final level is so hard

Holy cow, I have been rolling through the campaigns on Expert with Red Scarlet and help really easily. It takes us about an hour to an hour and a half with two or level restarts.

Someone mentioned Red Scarlett can beat Expert by herself, so that's a pretty good helper.

I have trouble beating it on Advanced by myself. Usually quit on the last level after something incredibly stupid happens and I want to murder all the AI (Sometimes I do spawn a new round just so I can kill them all:lol .)

My general feeling is that expert is easy with 2-3 good players and one average player. It takes maybe 1.5-2 hours per map.

With 2-3 good players and one bad player, it can be a 4-5 hour exercise in pain, followed by one or two people quitting because it's too late at night, and the person you're trying to help dying before they make it to the escape vehicle.

I maintain that expert campaign mode is for people who like laughing at shotgun-in-the-head or molotov-in-the-feet teamkills, or people who just like the pain of two tanks per map, slow movement, and high damage. :p I still like even that better than survival...

I think the last expert game I played might have been with Bulleta. I seem to recall getting two tanks on two different maps, both of them NOT the finale. Maybe we were just too good and the game wanted to make us keep dying. :lol

I can't believe I actually laughed out loud on this one :lol

I'm also still annoyed that Nothing Special is the last achievement I'm missing, and I doubt I'll ever get it -_-

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.

Try this map if you want as much practice as you want on your lesiure. The 'final challenge' is immortal survivor bots running through a square/cirucular area.

Eurogamer is reporting that Crash Course is up on Steam and XBL Marketplace. Apparently the price of the XBL version is 800 points at the moment, though, not 560 as initially reported. Let's hope that's a pricing error, because otherwise I think a lot of people are going to skip this...

EDIT: Argh, misread the article (admittedly the first line contradicts the rest of the story). It's not up on Steam yet.
