I friended you, my Steam nick is Stallion Free. I'm on quite a bit and down for any mode of L4D. I would suggest joining the Gaf VS group on Steam if you ever want to play VS. They are a fun group to play with (Scarlet will say otherwise).

Update

Updates to Left 4 Dead have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Left 4 Dead


Fixed campaign image not updating correctly when creating a lobby

Increased the reliabilty of the Steam Group server display

Made mm_dedicated_search_maxping available to allow users to set the maximum acceptable ping for a dedicated server. The default has also been lowered 150ms, down from 300ms

Fixed an issue where rescue closet doors could be opened in Crash Course in Versus mode

Be warned about the Vienna campaign, it is LONG. Not sure if that Heaven Can Wait is longer, but this campaign felt very lengthy, each level takes quite a bit of traveling. I think our time on advanced was about 2 hrs 12 minutes, with only getting wiped once.

That said, the campaign is extremely varied, you go from tunnels, to neighborhoods, to high roofs way up in the sky.

Thing is, Expert might be a bit rough, health was few and far between, and I don't think we saw any tier 2 weapons until map 3 aside from the sniper rifle. Has a couple cool crescendos and such, but I was pretty amazed at how much they put in there. It at least somewhat had some coherency to have all those levels. And the finale is kinda wonky, and there are some areas you can get stuck in and can't get out, but it's not that bad.

Worth a look, at least.

What's the point of being some 'l4d vids site' when they all record in stupid .dem, which becomes outdated and won't play the videos 2 days later? Why can't they use something that, I dunno, works. So stupid.

I've never ever had a .dem play in-game. Always get some 'wrong version crap' error.

I have been so addicted to this game lately in versus mode. But I do suck, and jesus fucking christ do I hate it when people point that out. Just have fun for fuck's sake. It's not like it's an mmo where your stats progression forever is on the line.

The only one GAF ever calls out for sucking is you Blizzard. Most other people listen to advice like "DON'T FUCKING GO THE OPPOSITE WAY FROM THE REST OF YOUR TEAM FOR NO REASON AT ALL AND GET POUNCED LIKE A MORON NEAR AN ALARM CAR THAT COULD BE EASILY AVOIDED."

That's because dem files for a whole campaign are at most 100 MB and high quality while it works. Filesize from fraps and those other software are wayyyy too large for the average person to upload onto their site.

Dem is the best way to go IMO for L4D. <3 small filesizes

Anyway, that's not true that you only claim I suck -- I think the last time I played you, you were talking about how Sanjay sucks, presumably as part of the excuse as to why (along with Fish) that you lost to Stallion and the rest of my team. :lol

Sanjay sucks cuz he's addicted to HoN and is rusty. But only you suck as in suck at the game. No one else has ever done the stupid ass shit you do. In fact, I'd go as far as to say you grief us on purpose.

And I admit that I am bad at all video games, including L4D which I hardly ever play (and thus am rusty at). And as hilarious as it is to make you rage, I try to play seriously if my team requests I play seriously. As I pointed out above, I was on a team with Stallion, coordinated my team attacks over voicechat, and beat your team by a small margin even though my team (including me) made some really dumb mistakes.

And then last time I played, half of my team was drunk, we lost by thousands of points against you and Nabs, and we didn't really mind. We were playing for fun, even though I am bad.

So, I try not to grief my teammates, and if a teammate wants to play really competitively and tells me so, I try to play well with my team. Otherwise, I just play to have fun, and your weird abuse seems kind of uncalled for. *shrug* At least you have stopped complaining about me removing you from my Steam friends list because of the weird sexual comments you left on my profile. :D

Or maybe I'm a bad player? I never try to get caught by the zombies, but sometimes if I am in the front I forget to look back to make sure my teammates are close. :) Just be polite, and ask me to play competitively if I'm on your team in the future and that's what you want, and then I will follow orders if I see/hear them.

And for what it's worth, I don't think I even remember the car thing you are complaining so much about. But then, it has probably been at least 1-3 weeks since I have even been on a team with you? (during which time I have probably played 3-4 vs games anyway, so see the above comments about being rusty)

Yeah, "we" don't bite. :lol :lol I will say that I don't think vertopci actually yells over the microphone at teammates. Sometimes he is too tired to coordinate so he doesn't talk at all.

Well, then my memory is truly horrible and I apologize. The only recent games I remember playing on the same server as you were GAF night games. The most recent one, like maybe on a week night, was the one where I lost by several thousand points and wasn't on your team. If you had a GAF game last Friday or Saturday night, then I might have been on your team on Crash Course. I am very bad at Crash Course and have still not really learned it. I don't think I have played it in co-op at all, and only 3-4 times in versus.

If I complained about you and nabs for no reason, then I apologize. Again, I don't think I remember doing it, and I remember maybe one game in the last month where I even ended up on the same team as you AND Nabs. I have tried to complain less, and I certainly never want to complain for no reason, so -- I am sorry. I do my best to be fair and polite, and maybe you were in the right on that occasion.

But they stop working after a few days and can never be watched afterward, which is stupid. :(

Unless I am doing it wrong and don't know how to do it correctly. I've tried playdemo demoname and playdemo demoname.dem and both give me that error. If I am doing it right, then .dem is quite not the best way to go if the videos can't even be watched 48 hours later. That makes them useless.

That's the downside of the dem files btw, small filesizes but don't work after updates. I don't really care too much so dem files are good for me.

Also, no one has been kicked from the group...you just never joined.

And I'd consider that one big ass downside. I wanted to watch some of those alienware match vids from l4dnao, but of course they don't even work anymore.

Supposedly one of the guys from the team that won was cheating.

Those tourney vids can ONLY be recorded using the the dem files since fraps and everything else take up too many resources. It would be dumb to use them and risk a FPS dropspike at some point. Only way to record using fraps would be thru a spectator. And if the spectator used dem for that...well that is kind of stupid :lol

Since I can't watch the vids, I have no idea if a spectator recorded them or what. They really should fix it so dems continue to work. The current setup is extremely dumb.

But really I do things in the game to make it more fun for me, I'm not willing to go to the end of a map and see a tank and then run all the way back and also do that walk so slow so infected can't see you thing, If I'm going down I'm going down Young Guns style.

We might try some new settings tonight during one of the GAF games :D

* Disable all non-saferoom medkits, turn them into pills instead
* Team swap order is ABABA, instead of highest score goes survivor first
* Tanks guaranteed 100% to spawn on every level 1-5
* Witches spawn 0% on 1,5 and 75% (default) on 2,3,4
* Tanks will not suicide if they go to AI and it cannot find a path to the survivors

* Tanks will spawn as late as 90% level completition (default behaviour), this means you might get them much later now (bad for BH4, but good for pretty much every other level where getting it around the middle is bad)
* The team format is ABABA (meaning the team order of who goes survivor first is swapped every map, ignoring 'valve swap')
* The config files unlocks some of the network rates for better ping
* Turn all spawnable medkits into pills (except saferoom kits)
* Disable tank suiciding if no AI path to survivors
* Replace all Medkits with Pills - This will remove all medkits in the game, including safehouse, nm3 ambulance, and finale kits, and replace them with pills.
* Add 4 kits in finale- This will make sure there are 4 medkits by the finale button.
* Disable Autoshotguns and Rifles - Replaces Autoshotguns with Pump Shotguns, and Rifles with Uzis.
* Enable Autoshotguns and Rifles in Finales - Allows you to control how many AS/AR spawn in finales.
* Stop Rushing/"Pre-Mollying" AI Tanks - The AI tank is frozen in place before a player gets control, And after 2 seconds of control, you will be extinguished and given full health. Giving you 2 seconds to run out of a pre-molly.
* Adds pausing to L4D - Hate it when a player disconnects or otherwise the game is unexpectedly stopped mid game? Now if both teams agree, the game can be paused until they are ready to play again. This is as close I can get to stopping all activity during the pause, but it could be exploited still by a "convenient pause" so both teams must agree.
* Defaults infected spawn timer to 22 seconds.

i really like the tank settings. pre-lighting is so unfair in VS.
