The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

Because of the server situation I tackled the No Mercy campaign on single player. Great stuff. Valve does it again.

1,906 zombies were harmed in the making of this film.
 
Just played the entirety of No Mercy with Flunkie, Guled and someone else.

:O GOTY

So awesome.

I'm gonna take a break for a few minutes and then try Versus if anyone wants to play.
 
Everyone on my friend's list is in a full game so I decided to give single player a go.

The AI stood around and let a smoker/boomer combo kill me.

It told me to use a medkit right as I died.

The AI also is bad at staying on top of stuff if I climb it!

Despite the goofy AI, it's still fun... but it's totally better with people, having played the demo for a few hours.
 
I had to leave after we got to the helipad in No Mercy. Was so close too.

This game is fantastic! I loved how the ending of the demo wasn't the end of the stage in the actual game. I can't wait to get back into it.
 
Beat No Mercy on Advanced with Bob'sRevenge, Pop on Arrival, and Cojo Mojo. Fucking Epic ending. The helicopter arrived, one was dead, two were knocked down. I abandoned them and sprinted for the copter and made it.

'In Memory Of...', indeed.
 
lol I have been obsessing over this for ages and somehow forgot it was out today when I made plans with friends. Gonna smash in some zombie slaying before fishing again tonight :D

They captured the movie feel so fucking well. I was on my back, shooting all the zombies running towards you while I was dying. Fucking amazing.
 
Yeah just played a No Mercy VS mode. No one survived. Bout 2 hours long.

Why? It is well worth it that is why. 2 hours fro each campaign on No Mercy and 5 campaings is 10 hours. Already more than most single player games.
 
So epic... my team kept dying waiting for the chopper and I need to get to bed :( If it was so much fun just playing 1.5 demo levels over and over... just imagine this... so many fantastic environments, shootouts, creepy sequences, explosions, teamwork, and all around badassery in the first fucking chapter. I am going to be playing this game forever.


PS- Anyone who said that Expert was too easy and that the assault rifle was the only good weapon should be eating some crow. Hunting rifle owns on the hospital roof, but it's amazing that to really round out the team it's best to mix up weapons and play different roles.

Valve is king.

Steam really is a joke. Its telling me my local files are three times as large as they actually are and starts downloading some phantom update that appears to be at least 2gb without bothering to tell me the actual file size or what the hell this update even is. Clearly my entire preload is fucked, despite the fact it says Left4dead is "100% ready".

That was so awesome. I need to go to sleep but that shit got my adrenaline going. So worth it though.
 
Got to the last level of the No Mercy campaign but died near the end. Btw, I was playing on Advanced, and I feel it's going to be VERY tough on Expert. The levels in the demo were a cakewalk compared to the later levels. Valve wasn't kidding when they said it'd be hard :p Anyways, I love this game.
 
Good games NakedSushi, too bad you had to leave. We never did make it off the rooftop. Came pretty close when all 4 of us camped the stairs tho.

And lulz at people saying it would be too easy, getting through a full campaign on Advanced is a challenge. And I dread Expert.
 
Holy shit. We were getting owned on the hospital roof on advanced. I laugh at the people who said this game would be too easy. I laugh at them.

Anyway, I think we could have pulled it off, but I need to get to sleep. That set piece really is all about coordination and knowing what's going on with your teammates at all times. Someone can get pulled off by a smoker so fast, it's crazy.
 
i just had quite possibly one of my top five gaming moments of all time playing no mercy on advance with a few buddies. damn epic. gonna go try infected now
 
Just finished No Mercy with Crooked Rain, MJ Doja, Fallout (left a bit early) on advanced. Yeah, gotta laugh at people saying Expert (or advanced) was too easy. The finale is fucking absurd. I didn't even make it :(. Crooked Rain and MJ Doja managed to get to the chopper.

Also, lol at startling a witch only for her to run towards me and fall down a long shaft and couldn't get back up. The witch music was playing the entire time, even though the witch wasn't around.

Amazing.

AI Director is Gabe Newell at his desk being a total dickface. Confirmed.

Because Valve is all about the good deals. I mean, if they charged us what the game's worth, we'd all be out $100 bucks!

Also: Glad to hear the difficulty ramps up. Hope it stays that way after a few dozen hours of playing the game. O:

Yeah, you did, but I didn't realize how much of an ass he could truly be until the finale. Apparently, being filthy rich isn't good enough for Gabe. He has to being a douche to his customers while getting richer and making them love it.
 
Just played some Vs. with Costanza, and damn. That was super fun. Playing as the infected can be AWESOME, especially when you get to do the little things like grabbing a guy from across the street with your tongue and choking him. So fun.

Also...

FUCK the corn fields on Advanced. :lol

Man, that was way too fucking awesome. I'm still in shock right now. The finale was so intense. My heart was beating pretty damn fast as I was running to the chopper. I looked behind me and I just had a swarm of zombies after me and MJ Doja was sitting in the chopper picking them off while I was making my way over to it with less than 20 health left.
 
Why does everyone seem concerned about how long it takes to finish a map?

You can finish a map in CS within 1minute and 30seconds. And they only have like 5 official maps! Crazy! How the hell did that game do so well with only 10 minutes of levels.
 
Just finished the Advanced No Mercy campaign with Mila, Volc, and dark. Fun, and NOT so easy...at first it wasn't bad, but it got quite difficult towards the end. Some annoying witch placement, but we only all failed once on the rooftop.

What's the screenshot key? I tried F5, F10, and print screen, I thought, but nothing seemed to work. I wanted to take a picture of the moon (and lightning!).

I'm glad I got it, $45 or not...fun times, especially with 3 mics.

And poor Mila...we tried to save him, but the copter was too late.

And yeah, advanced seems a good difficulty to not be too frustrating with good teamwork, but still hard enough that you get killed (or even have to restart sometimes). Having to restart some levels like the giant

level would take a long time, for instance...freaking AI director put a witch right in the room with the guns and health there.

CS was a free mod, and CSS was an addon.

set it in your keyboard options.. i have mine at f12.

advanced seems great for learning the maps, it wasnt a breeze by any means, youre totally right.
