I think I remember hearing that, too, now. But I dunno. CS ain't mah thang.

I certainly welcome any and all new games from Valve, though. Especially new IPs, after Portal and L4D. And even TF2, to an extent -- kind of a complete reimagining of what Team Fortress originally was, in a way. That and TF wasn't originally a Valve property, so.
Portal's not really a new IP, is it? I mean, not any more than Halo Wars is a new IP.

I want to kill zombies with GAF. Are most of you playing on PCs or Xbox?

Another vote for PC. It's a valve game, they'll support it better on PC than on any other platform.

Nabs was the only one that made it out of our No Mercy run, but I got the achievement. You don't need to survive to get it.
It's weird. I've beaten No Mercy twice now. The first time I didn't survive, and didn't get the achievement. The second time, I survived and didn't get the achievement, while the guy who died got the achievement.

It's not a big deal though.. I'm going to be playing many many more times.

Not only that, it also looks a lot better on PC.

Aside from the basic game mechanic, Portal is nothing like Narbacular Drop. It's a new IP, as far as I'm concerned.

People keep saying this...but the game only looks as good as your PC is capable of handling. For quite a few people the 360 version might very well look/run better.

Playing with random people also has some sort of strange appeal to it. Relying on people I've never communicated with before is kinda exciting, and it adds to the tension of the game. When I know someone is playing the game for the first time, I don't tell them what the best strategy is for the given situation so they can experience the whole getting fucked over bit at least once. I know I wouldn't have liked it someone told me what to do on every single scenario on my first play-through.

I refuse to acknowledge weak pussy-ass PC's. Let's keep the glorious PC image, please. :D

I'd say it counts.

It might be in the same universe as HL2, but it's worlds apart in style, gameplay, and even story.

If HL2:E3 brings the portal gun with it, then I will take back the above statement.

Not really important, though.

ZOMBIES!!!

What would be great is if you could use the portal gun running from a revenholmesque city full of "infected" like creatures. and using your aperture science stilts

i hope to play more today after classes, but I won't be around too much this weekend, big test Monday :(

Hopefully can get a very balanced VS match going sometime soon! :p

I'm not sure I mentioned this, but anyways. On Blood Harvest, the part where you go out of the tunnels into the woods area (with a gate directly above you), we were around there. My friend was slightly ahead of us, and he's right about outside. Out of NOWHERE, I see a fucking tree come flying and knock him over. The Tank outside had sent it flying just at that moment. Oh god, I couldn't stop laughing :lol

the matchmaking is still piss poor i see, tried it 3 times every time its put me on a horrific server :/ they should at least make bringing up the browser easier than having to type into the console

I always get put on a server with a 150ms ping. I have to go thru the server browser to get around 30-50ms.

I play with 350-500 ping most of the time and I haven't had any problems. I think L4D handles lag different than previous Valve games, so I don't think having 150ms is THAT bad, really.

150ms wasn't even bad in TF2. And L4D isn't a competive shooter. There is no reason to looks for super low ping servers.
Still, they need to get rid of all the crappy servers, which simple can't handle running the thing.

This game just gets better and better the more I play online ..I also added a microphone which really adds to it all plus I have an EVGA GTX 260 Superclocked edition (216 core) on the way to replace my current 7800GTX :D

So I finally decided which version to get, went to Future Shop at noon... and got the
PC version.

Steam
GT = Finjitzu

I got one friend on Steam, so hit me up with some invites!

good read. cant wait for dlc.

interesting quote:
-

Gamma asks: I'm sure a lot of people have been wondering this, but why can only No Mercy and Blood Harvest be played in Versus?

Chet Faliszek: Versus maps, while appearing near the same, are actually different versions of the maps. So for L4D we shipped with a total of 30 maps. The versus maps have to be split off so we can playtest and adjust them specifically.

In co-op, a section that is hard for Infected is easy for the survivors, it isn't unfair, it's just how that map plays. In versus, though, it becomes unfair, or just isn't fun for the Infected.

I'll be on Steam tonight.

I have this game for PC and 360. My Live account is "Apoth." PM me for my Steam ID if you'd like to play on the PC, my preferred platform: I'm happy to do Expert Campaign or Versus.

What are your PC specs? It'll most likely be fine on PC if you can run TF2.

It's not crazy to get both versions, it's that good :D

I bought both versions. Don't regret it one bit. Prefer the PC version but still have a lot of fun with the 360 version.

Your PC should be ok.

I like this quote from the Eurogamer article

phoopipe asks: Will the 360 version be as supported as the PC version with regards to DLC/map packs? As that was not the case with TF2.

Chet Faliszek: We understand that concern and want to make sure we address it with the 360. So we will be looking at trying to coordinate major updates across the two platforms.

Makes my xbox feel all warm inside, and no its not the red ring of death.

fyi my brother picked it up for his shitty old laptop (integrated graphics of course) and he says it runs and looks great even on the low settings.

I'm still playing with random people online, but it's kinda fun even so. I feel somewhat awkward speaking english on a headset, but it's working :)

You should be fine. My bro plays with an Athlon 64 3200+ i believe, 2 gigs of ram, and some ATI agp card.

i should be ok. all of the HL source games run accetpably on my set up. Portal being the one i had to bump down a few notches due to all of the effects.

TF2 ran pretty good.

if i get a new video card hopefully L4D will run pretty well, despite my limitations.

thanks.

Join the GAF Left 4 Dead specific group.

The Radeon 4670 is a great card for pretty cheap, definitely worth the upgrade if you can do it.
