A couple of other little nuggets...

Clouds - Optic
Brian Sanhaji & Drumcell - Split Structures EP (sorry, can only find a Beatport link for clips)
Subb-an - What I Do (Remixes) (Again, sorry, BP link) For those who get off on Maceo Plex, the Trago remixes are stellar.
Shakarchi & Straneus For those who have been digging 100% Silk.
Mitrinique - Green Mountains (Petar Dundov) I felt this would down easy for most, considering all the Progressive House talk of late :)
ASC - The Gradients Project ASC is mostly known for his D&B work, but his recent techno outings have been nothing short of magnificent.
Shlohmo - Rained the Whole Night (Nicolas Jaar Remix) I can't remember if this has been discussed or not, but it should be. Stunning remix.
Mri - Rejam (Robag Whrume Diplopie Myx Atacke) Don't miss this.

edit
Can't forget Recloose - Magic

Not apart of their crew, anyone can upload sets to their site. I love the site though yes. Good stuff all around. Cheers for the listen and I hope you enjoy them :)

Where'd you see him live?

Loser slave of the system :(
Well I make mine for myself. That's all you really can do. At the very least that fulfills your own creative needs. Getting it out there is the age old question. No one has perfected it:(
It's especially difficult when you're living in Saudi Arabia hahaha. Thanks again for your support!

Found out today from one of the local music rags (complete fluke, mind you... I hardly ever read them) that Aril Brikha is playing THIS FRIDAY!!!!! Needless to say, I have my tickets :D
Aril Brikha - More Human
Aril Brikha - Winter

So fucking pumped. Only knew of him a few months ago but have been hooked since. So good.

JEALOUS! Track down his set from DEMF last year, supreme mix. He usually plays all live, which gives everything a very fresh sheen. Have fun man!

I've been listening to it for a few weeks now. Getting a ticket at the last minute has just made my week, never mind that I'm coming off seeing New Order, Aphex Twin and have that festival on Sunday.

I'd kill to see Aphex and New Order, let alone one after the other!

Realized something today: the grouchy guy who comes into my restaurant every day and just gets a coffee to go is none other than Adultnapper @-@ Not a very warm guy, to say the least...

New Order wasn't that crash hot, TBH... Bernard was never a really good singer to begin with and the mixing was HORRIBLE. I'm also pretty sure they didn't do a sound check beforehand. But, it was my favourite band of all time, I'm not going to let those things get in the way of me enjoying them ;) Just like when I saw Severed Heads as they/he opened for Gary Numan. Not great but any stretch but I'm a massive fan so it was bliss regardless.

totes name dropping :D

Hahaha, I've seen him open up the Sunday School tent at Electric Zoo a few years ago, but don't really follow him. Are you gonna say you recognize him? Also IIRC you mentioned there was some other DJ who comes into your restaurant from time to time but I can't remember who it was...

I don't know if I'll bother. Never been a huge fan of his work, and he always seems like he doesnt want to be bothered and on edge (guessing he doesn't want to be recognized). And the other DJ is Four Tet :) He hasn't been in in a while, I'm guessing he's back in the UK for the moment.

And if anyone in NYC isn't doing anything Saturday night, I'm DJing at a small space in the Lower East Side! Feel free to drop by and say hey. It's at Grotto, starts at 930.

Hello electro-gaf.

Being somewhat of a connoisseur in electronic music (in all forms and shapes) i welcome this thread with delight.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of similar artists that sound like Niki & The Dove and Oh Land?

Examples.

Niki & The Dove:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHuci2LUHPA&ob=av2e
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XojSSa0jwxU

Oh Land:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4wHMORwlHY

Particularly the sound of Niki & The Dove.. They've only released a handful of songs and their sound strikes a chord inside of me. I'm happy to have seen them live. If you have the opportunity to see them, Go!

EDIT:
Jesus, 'Mother Protect' always gets me. It's honestly one of the greatest songs ever made.

Oh fuck it. This post just became an 'Niki & The Dove' appreciation post.

My buddy just finished his first album and I just want to see what some of you think about his tracks. He learned how to use reason in the last two years and this is his first real effort into an album.

what do you think?

Fucking awesome. Aril absolutely nailed his set, every track was just one "wtf how awesome!" after another. He finished his set with this, in which I could only assume was his first live performance of it, given it was only recorded (or something) 5 days ago. Insanely good track!

Follow-up act was "Child", a local from Melbourne who was better than he had every right to be. Every track was ridiculously good, though right now I'd struggle to categorise it... hard deep house? Deep hard house? Anyway, he killed it as well. This is all I could find on the guy.

I haven't kept up with Aril Brikha since his debut on Transmat, but what a departure from something like this. Or even.
That's what 99% of his set was like, though. It's only that one remix he did that's completely different (but still awesome, obv). If you look around there are a handful of recent sets kicking about to download.

Stumbled across this while looking at other Aril Brikha tracks. I quite like it... different and kinda wacky, but still groovy and delicious. It was probably mentioned on GAF numerous times :/ I used to love Chab, too... did a couple of great tracks a number of years back, no idea what happened to em/him.

Thanks for the suggestions. Nothing quite like niki and the dove though. I'll be sure to check out the pop thread soon enough.
Yeah those remixes are amazing.
Niki & The Dove - Gentle Roar (Mylo remix)
Also fantastic.

Late Edit:
This new mixtape is amazing. Especially his remixes in it.
A.N.D.Y Tape One
His EP is going to be released next friday (16 march) if iirc.
I've done two crude cutouts from the mixtape (The Supermen Lovers : Say no More (A.N.D.Y. Remix) and Philosophy of Sound : Freedom, what for ? (A.N.D.Y. Remix) ) if anyone wants (not sure if it's allowed though).
Really looking forward to the EP!

Lucky Me ~ 105. Nick Hook - Fuck Jetlag Crossin' Time Zones Mixtape

Seven degrees of separation is all bullshit. It doesn’t exist. The maths add up but really people in this world are not equally connected. See most of us are just nodes, all individuals. We do our work and we see our friends and we retire for the night. But if you want to know people, really meet people, you need these ‘hubs’ – these guys who spent their life doing their work and then going out to meet people, refusing to retire for the night. And Nick Hook is one those hubs. We met at SXSW in 2010 and me and Mo instantly fell in love with him after watching Cubic Zirconia melt this packed lil show to 150 people in a tiny style bar. The next day we all gatecrashed Peter Rosenbergs beats showcase and Nick was hitting shots of Jameson and freaking out the backpackers by blowing a rave whistle over the MPC hip hop sets. Ever since, we’ve been cool. The last few years of knowing him have resulted in us meeting some of our heroes through him (YAKBALLZ!) and introducing him to mutual friends (AZEALIA BANKS!). We’ve played a couple great parties together in New York, London & Scotland. And we’re still trying to get a release out of him but Nick is always flying somewhere to hang out and work with someone else. Anyway – we’re looking forward to SXSW again this year. And this tape is a SXSW flyer for him. It sums up the people he knows and works with – as well as the insane amount of travelling he does and the good vibe he effortlessly exudes. Salute Nick Hook. Most popular unsung hero in every single scene right now.

That's a remix not a mashup ;)

And I just realized that it is a free DL on Soundcloud.

The end of the video is amazing with the FF7 stuff!

Love Korallreven, going to see them in Chicago!

Love both Korallreven and Elite Gymnastics (and pretty much anything Acephale presses). Currently waiting to get my copy of the 2nd pressing of the Korallreven record. Ruin 3/4 should be coming soon. Has some cool remixes by CFCF, Physical Therapy, How to Dress Well and LOL Boys.

Also just got the Kindred 12" in the mail today. :)
