ANYWAY!

Last nights Rs records night was awesome. James Blake ahhh it was too good. Openend with his Changes remix. Was tooo much.
Lone was also on point and pariah.I got abit overwhelmed by raw techno towards the end and zoned out then he threw me a life line with Blawan- under my garage which instamtly took me back to the boat party in Croatia.

Yes, Mark is trying to use both sides of his brain there.

So should you.

New Legowelt album is a STUNNER. This man just keeps on killing it.

It also wins the award for most heinous album cover of the year.

A new one Shaneus might be into; it's such a nice album.

Erdbeerschnitzel - Tender Leaf // "Let Go", "Through the Night"

Been meaning to check this out, I loved "To An End"... these samples sound really great so far!

Went to see Eric Prydz/Fehrplay last nite at Roseland Ballroom and they both killed it! The sound system there was a bit too loud so there were times when some of the more techier, Cirez D songs sounded very distorted, and Eric kinda dragged on for a bit in the middle of the set, but it was a great time. Got to hear his newest track "Bergen" off his ep coming out tomorrow, also heard an edit of Blue Monday, along with the typical staples - Pjanoo, Every Day (his opener), Personal Jesus, Glow, On/Off, Calvin Harris Flashback remix, and an edit of the Faithless classic "Insomnia" (one of the songs that got me into EDM). Fehrplay was great too, played lots of that Swedish style melodic progressive house, a favored style of mine. Great opener although a bit too uplifting for an opener... would have preferred Fehrplay play more techier and Eric play all out melodic/anthemic house.

Dutch crowds seem to be completely worthless, at least those attending these hardstyle events. They just stand around and film the (admittedly awesome) light shows and shit instead of going crazy.

That's a huge generalization, but I can see what you're getting at. It depends on the party/line-up and the crowd it attracts. Mainstream-ish DJ's usually mean lot's of people recording and standing still - my guess is they don't visit these parties often and like to share the fact that they did. The guys that produce the harder stuff attract the nuttier people that like to go wild. Quality of sound is important too, there we some weakspots at Qlimax where you couldn't feel the bass; unacceptable.

Personally I don't get why people like to record concerts/raves, and thus experience it through the screen of their smart phone when they can look at the real thing with their own eyes. Thousands of people in the room are recording, so if you want to look back at it, go to Youtube.

She's playing at a Melbourne festival this Saturday (also on the lineup is Gessafelstein hhnnggghhh) but I missed out on tickets (probably all snapped up by people who want to see fucking Tiesto). Prices on eBay for a ~$140 ticket are going for a minimum $300 :/

I'm Gonna Get You is a great track... so sexy.

Nina is super sexy in general. Top five in music IMO:

The tracklist looks good but I personally wouldn't relate it to oldskool Sasha.

Found a 10-year old set from Villalobos, oh my....

<snipped big pic of Ricardo>

http://nightclubber.ro/ricardo-villalobos-at-pemf-26-may-2002

From the site:

Today there isn’t a continent where Ricardo Villalobos hasn’t played

Still hasn't played in the US yet actually. Its either due to problems with his passport or due to protesting our government policies or something. I want to see him just to see what the big deal is (I like some of his productions even if I'm not a huge minimal fan).

Ukkonen set for Blowing Up the Workshop:

http://blowinguptheworkshop.com/index.php/project/3--ukkonen/
'Kenkey Special is different in many ways from my other material. Whereas the tracks on the album (and the EPs) were often tightly harmonically and rhythmically integrated, these tracks are often more atonal and the rhythms more chaotic. There are hints of almost bebop-like phrases. Chord sequences move aimlessly to uncertain destinations...

There is a sense of disintegration and disconnection.

There is one major technical change that I've used for the first time here - phasing rhythms that aren't locked into the tempo (You can hear one example around the 33 minute mark in the high synth plinks).

The tone is distorted and uglier than before. The title came from a sign I saw in an African market (it wasn't in Africa). I didn't know what it meant at the time, but I found the words evocative, and that combined with some negative events started to shape this new material and the feel of the mix.'

But if he's played in Canada, then he's played in your continent :)
