I might have to agree with The Giver being a real contendor for song of the year. That hook and bassline are insane.

For real! I've been playing it for a few months now and it just does not get old! Whenever I play it at a gig, several people come up to me asking for the ID. It's just such a fantastic track.

I wanted to pop in and drop this here for you guys. I made a promo mix that I'm going start to send out to some places, and I'd love to get some feedback from you guys. I think it's a rather fun and funky mix, and definitely well in-line with many of your tastes and the direction the thread has been going in lately. Very deep, funky, bouncy. I hope y'all enjoy :D

Andy Stott - Love Nothin' (Modern Love)
Alfabet - Roundabout (Rush Hour Records)
Mr. Scruff - Fresh Noodles (Prime Numbers)
Djungi - Rakatakata (Arma Records)
Nufrequency - Fallen Hero (Motor City Drum Ensemble Remix) (Rebirth)
Moodyman - Roberta Jean Machine (Peacefrog Records)
Simon Weiss - Amsterdam Wave (Rush Hour Records)
Cottam - I Remember (Aus Music)
Legowelt - I only Move for You (Clone Records)
Stella - Office and Store (Efdemin) (Clouds Hill Ltd.)
Jack Dixon - Find Shelter (Hot Flush Records)
Braiden - Belfry Tower (Rush Hour Records)
Sei A - Hyphen (Hemlock Recordings)
Tiger Fingers - Little Drummer Girl (Jimmy Edgar Remix) (hafendisko)
Unit 4 - Body Dub (Tiefschwarz Remix) (Clone Records)
Braiden - Paganini (Rush Hour Records)

edit: I pride myself with this mix, because I realied that "Body Dub" and "Paganini" share the *exact* same congas.

Just bought the remix EP a few days ago, solid stuff. The Lando Kal remix does, however, absolutely take the cake. I like this one for the extra bounce it gives to the song. "The Giver" is probably my song of the year, such a tune.
I've just had a (albeit brief) listen to these two versions... and I think I still prefer the original. The others are damn good, but IMO the Lando Kal is a little too "out there" and the Locked Groove one just sounds a little too... I dunno, generic? There's nothing really hooking me in at all.

But dat original... it just reeks of classic, well-produced 90s house. Not unlike this, actually... though obviously The Giver is far deeper, it shares a lot of the same essence, I think.

Edit: Dumont's other tracks are killer as well. Does old-school rave stylee really well ;) (but I liked his other original tracks more)

The original is untouchable. It's like what you guys were saying about "Popper," you can remix it if you have to do it, but it's just unnecessary.

Ah, so you were referring to that remix you mentioned as "taking the cake" as far as the remixes go, yes?

Good man :)

Ohhhhh fuck. That's not good :(

I tend not to backup my desktop PC (for reasons I don't know) but I'm extra careful of portable devices.

What happened... lost? Bad sectors? Dropped? Either way, sorry to hear it :(

Hard drive is toast. I've got a TB external hard drive and just constantly procrastinated, laptop is barely 2 years old. Terrible luck with these things.

That was an odd few mins.. Clicked the thread on my phone and was reading about mustard pimp and seeing all these new posters and returning old ones.

No wait I clicked the first page :|

What do you guys think of The Added Fat EP?

http://i.imgur.com/gpVcB.jpg

Really digging it. Some ratings:

Noisia Remix: 7/10, heard better from Noisia but the minor changes in the classical SMBU breakbeat are sweet. The dubstep parts are a bit boring.
Alvin Risk Remix: 8/10, didn't think I'd like this drumstep remix, but digging it quite a lot.
Zeds Dead Remix: 3/10, boring as fuck.
Baauer Remix: 9/10, damn, he killed this remix. Trap done in style. Love the second half of the track where he layers some additional breakbeats on top.
The Glitch Mob Remix: 8/10, pretty damn good electro/glitch.
Major Lazer Remix: 9/10, I'm a sucker for trap so this fits right in. Just like with the Noisia remix, the minor changes to the SMBU breakbeat are awesome.

About to give this a listen, track list is bonkers but then this is The Gas Lampkiller haha

I should give this a listen. I saw him perform with Daedalus last year and he was horrible. Daedalus was just sublime, as per usual, but GLK was just horrendous on every level.

I found his album to be a good if you listened to it from start to finish but it only has maybe two songs I can play alone and his most recent Boileroom was pretty good.
Cant say Ive seen him live but im sure its an experience atleast!

Edit: did not know that "Hudson Mohawke - Furnace Loop" is basically the Kanye Mercy beat. I allways thought Djs were just looping that bit of the song, should have figired it out as he produced it.
Edit2: Well "The Legend of Zelda - Title BGM" came out of nowhere!
