Yeah the guy has some tunes. Im surprised you haven heard of him as hes party of the Hot Creations lot (owner I think?)
Oh, I'd heard of him definitely. But when I'd heard Something Special, it was a good track... but it just sounded kinda cliche and just lazily put together (analog bassline, chick singing bland vocal etc.). Didn't expect that his other tracks (almost all the ones I've come across) to be good. Rockin' Beats and Bandit Beats are far better than I would've expected from him.

He's a kind of newish face though, isn't he? Really only came about in the latter half of 2011 or so? I'm thinking he's almost of the same level of experience in the industry as someone like Maceo Plex. (edit: Looks like he has a few years up on him).

Oh crap, that reminds me... I remember seeing his album get mentioned somewhere (this thread?) but never thought to hunt it down because... well... Something Special. Definitely have to remedy that situation now I know what I know.

Where have you been? I've been pimping his stuff for a good 8 months now (at least). Further proof that no-one ever reads my posts :/

Sorry bro never noticed.

I wish "Reality" was available to buy or DL though :/.
TWENTY-FIVE TIMES. Makes me wonder what the point of posting is :(

Moon Boots' Peanut Butter remix is so good. It's the perfect combination of chill summer and with a beat that still makes you move.
Yeah, I really dig it. It could double as a Little Boots track. Coincidentally, someone else Moon Boots has remixed (though I can't recall specifically which track it was, I remember not super digging it).
That's one of the (many) benefits of living in Australia. You get all the good European (and American) light, fluffy, summery house after all the limited lifespan/gimmicky stuff has filtered through, just in time for our own summer :)

Title track is also so so good.

Some serious heat happening in this thread right now. That Moon Boots remix is so, so good. Really love this track by him (them? her?).

Had a night at work the other night where I put on Late Nite Tuff Guy's soundcloud page and just let it ride, was really fun. A ton of people stopped to ask what we were playing, so many people were having nostalgia overload.

dont sleep on these guys Benzel, its a 15 year old and 16 year old duo from osaka that came to nyc through an exchange program, theyve made this amazing song and also produced jessie ware - if you love me . just read they were in the studio with cashmere cat and diplo the other day

BenZel is Umi Takahashi (15) and Yoko Watanabe (16). Originally from Osaka; Umi and Yoko both travelled to New York through their local foreign exchange program. They met in early 2012 through an online message board about ankle socks and quickly discovered they each had a profound appreciation for 90's R&B and J. Dilla. After many failed attempts to create a hypoallergenic ankle sock, they decided to put their efforts toward other creative ventures. Following hours of soul searching; they decided to start BenZel...they've been working on it since yesterday.

theyre like the japanese r&b disclosure or something

Anyway know what B-Complex is up to? I was going through his music recently and have rediscovered how instrumental his music has been. But he only really released a few small EPs and Singles from time to time. Been like 3 years now since anything has dropped from him...

Agreed. Listening to some of his stuff posted in here on the last few pages and it's amazing. Never heard him before. I love this sort of sound.

also, first post in electronic-GAF after lurking for a while. Woo!

If you're curious about his origins, here's some of his REALLY early stuff. This was what made him (basically) a household name (in Australia, amongst clubbers. Possibly overseas as well, but remember... this was the early 90's):
DJ HMC - LSD
DJ HMC - Phreakin'

Does GAF have a thread for avant garde music? Was going to put Jar Moff in this thread but he really doesn't belong at all, lol (let's be honest, most of the music in this thread is striving to adhere to genre standards rather than break new ground)
Here it is anyways though cuz I love it <3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWRqfCwGjqk

Noise does not make something "forward" thinking. EDM is as ground breaking as IDM.

Sure but it's not simple noise. ;)

I don't expect most music to be groundbreaking because that's just an enormously difficult thing to accomplish.

I feel for the groundbreaking electro thread, is that not enough genres are represented. I'd really like to combine the psytrance, and jazz-hop threads in with this one.

I've been wanting to make my own Jungle/Brokenbeat and a Nu-Jazz/Electroswing thread for a while now, but have realized that more things need to be represented here. Thus I found a home here. Feel free to post whatever you feel would work in here. I love avant-garde stuff (course everyone thinks of something different)

Of course what is already here is wonderful ;)

Most of LNTG's output is impossible to find online. iTunes/Beatport barely carry any of it :/.

yeah i've struggled but managed to get a good handful from mate's who have his stuff on vinyl ( that they didn't even know about )...once I get a decent internet connection at the house I'll post some of it up in dropbox...might as well share the wealth!

So I just picked up Martin Eden's (a.k.a. Eluvium) debut album, Dedicate Function.

Only 7 tracks long, but my god it's good. Great excursion from Matthew Robert Cooper's normal sounds. Very nice atmosphere, and 'hum' is a highlight.

Go ahead and listen if you like Aphex's early stuff/drone/ambient. Hauntingly beautiful.

There's a Psytrance thread? Why haven't I heard of this?

Yes, that one is excellent
You'd think it would have gotten more attention coming from Eluvium-dude

Its a pretty poor thread name thats all but id be hard pressed to come up with a better one considering all the various things that get posted in here.

I didn't mean to nitpick the thread title, I really don't care. I was just wondering where to put the music that was a bit weirder / avanter / whatever you want to call it.
