The lesson: If you have to, use something like Serato. I haven't used the USB controller-focused one (I think it's just called Serato DJ? I know the cut down one is "Intro") but if it's anything like the software for the vanilla Scratch control vinyl and box, it'll be a lot more basic.

I gave up on trying to beatmatch anything on PC when fucking around with DJing a long time ago. Have a few too many songs that drift and it's easier just to worry about them at the start and the end of those songs :)

But yes, it is a funny statement! Just sounds so... bizarre.

BTW What are you using to digi-DJ these days, okno? I still have my Typhoon I never use. Love to get something quality, but fuck paying more than $300 for something I'll (likely) barely use.

PS. Jesus christ, I really need to get off my arse and do a mix... and soon. I blame being too lazy to put new music on my iPod/Clip+ and not listening to electronic music anywhere near as much as I should (outside of clubs). I suck.

I know you asked okno but my 2cents. Dont bother with anything but a Traktor Pro 2/4 or above if you already have something "cheap"

My mate has one and it blows my Mixtrack out of the atmosphere. its worlds apart.
Everything just works so well with it.
No idea what they cost in Dingo Dollars but they are about £300+ here :/
I want one but its so much cash. Then again the accuracy on the pitch, working bloody effects buttons and the ability to "shift" through a track to the spot you want would be nice..

.

I cant believe i have entered an era, where people actually have to point out that they can beatmatch by ear. it hurts my head even thinking about it.

Is Jacques Greene in love with Ciara or something? Isn't she kind of no one these days? These new remixes are sick. He's probably dying to work with her. She should be so lucky.

Damnit.

Love "Dingo Dollars", though :D

Honestly, all I seriously want is something like this:
(fake edit: I actually found the exact thing I was looking for, pretty much)
(Although having said that, an even more simplified one I'd be equally as happy with, something like this (but USB/MIDI, just the controllers obv.):

I should clarify that, for me, it's more of a visual problem. I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to my things looking right, so when I was mixing last night I was noticing that nearly every single song on that comp would have an aligned beat grid at the beginning and would slowly shift over the course of the track. Nothing I do will get it to lay down a proper grid, and it's driving me crazy because it looks terrible. For some reason, even though these tracks are all very consistent and have a clear beat the program can't analyze them properly. It's just a weird problem. I just like my things to look neat.

Shaneus: right now I use the Reloop Digital Jockey 2. Have had it for about two years now, and it's starting to fail on me. The headphone jack is fucked and always needs something pressing down on it to get sound through both sides of my headphones. The cross fader will shift on its own when pressed all the way to the left or right. My EQs are really loose. The buttons often don't register (I just use my keyboard for play/cue, anyway). I refuse to buy a new controller, though. The next thing ill be buying is a mixer and tables or CDJs. Just need to move into a new apartment first :p The room we rent out is tiny, and I'll never be able to fit a proper setup in it. I got to play on a friend's CDJs the other day and its just way, way more fun using those or tables than a digital setup.

That makes sense... it would drive me bananas as well, even though it wouldn't affect how I play in the slightest.

I should stop pissfarting around, thinking I need to get a digital setup going and just sort through all the music on my phone/Clip+ and fucking burn some CDs. My CDJs haven't been used (as anything other than things to sit stuff on) for donkey's.

So guys, this is totally fucking awesome. Part (but most, I think) of the GTA5 soundrack/stations listing has been leaked thanks to that preload on PS3 (so I assume these haven't actually been decrypted, but the filenames are indicative enough of the stations themselves). No word on the Kavinsky station (although he basically confirmed it on Twitter himself) but this is news to me... A FUCKING SOULWAX STATION!

Not a game spoiler, superdope tracklisting:

Code:
Soulwax FM (electronic/techno)

Almost better than FK's channel in GTA4. Actually, I suspect it may shit all over it.

Fake edit: Fuck, I love you guys too much. Seeing as I'm looking them up anyway, I'll link 'em for ya <3

**Reminds me of Positif. Ungh.

This is courtesy of... um... shit, I forget his username, but he hung out with biz and myself on plug last night. God damn, nice as hell.

Lane 8 - Dusty

It's been a while since I've just heard a "nice" track. Nothing especially outstanding but everything just done really fucking well and has a bit of spunk and flair compared to your run-of-the-mill deep house track... lots of neat little twisted, chopped samples and sounds that appear for the first time even half way through the track. Like "Oh, hello Mr. Clappy-sound, what are you doing here 2/3 through the song?".

Lane 8's other stuff is good too (Be Mine, for example).

Another one he posted was Kidnap Kid - Lazarus Taxon. Bit different, sounds like it could be a remix of music from Sonic 1 on MD ;)

Oh, his name was nocturnedelight, he lurks but I'm hoping this post flushes him out :D

Hah, hey Shane. I appreciate the shout out.

Just went to a wedding and had a nice long drive there and back listening to the Disclosure CD I bought a little while ago, but never before gave a fair listen to. A few of the songs run too similar at times, but still pretty solid, and still super excited to see them in October.

This song is still my fav from it, and no idea if anyone has posted it:
Disclosure - Help Me Lose My Mind (ft. London Grammar)

Also, wish I had an aux in/out for my car so I could play this:
Eli & Fur - Free Your Mind

Top Bottom
