The Official NeoGAF Groundbreaking Electronic Music Thread™

Truly. Love hooking up the old HDD and browse through all my melodic trance and older house / trance sound. Reminds me of late middle school and high school, counter strike 1.6 and driving around with car smoking and drinking red bulls hahah.

stuff like this still holds a special place in my heart

Yeah its pretty fun, Im not going to lie I think the first time I even heard of Above and Beyond was via this thread and I then managed to accidentally see them at the same festival two years in a row, outside of that I think I listened to a gareth emery album when I was 16.
Thats my trance knowledge right there haha but every song Ive put into It has meaning to us so Im hoping my friend appreciates it!

haha, you even replied to my post about the official release back in July! Gettin' old and senile, dude. ;)

Senile doesn't even begin to cover it.

Trailer for new album of Chromeo (including the new song 'Over Your Shoulder') is released:

link.

They're doing a boiler room set tomorrow as well.
Prediction: This album will be more liked and less polarising than RAM. If not by only me, but I think there'll be a decent cross-section of people who think more highly of it.

Leon Vynehall - XVII (Rox Out)
Lights - Kitchen Party (Jamie Grind Remix) // !!!
Gangsta Boo & Sinjin Hawke - Yea Hoe // !!!!!

Also one of my favourites. Gonna try and do a little mashup of the original version and Jacques remix to work as an intro song.

Tessela bringing out the big guns again, he is forming up to be one outstanding producer.

Somebody refresh my memory: what was the name of that Japanese duo in the mid-90s who were doing house-y drum and bass stuff, had some mild US success with one particular song, wouldn't have been out of place on the Wipeout games...? Their album cover was a heavily blue-tinted photo of them next to a fancy sports car in a field. Ugh, why can't I remember this?

The song "Push Eject" from Out Loud was in the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2.

Could I get some recommendations from Electronic-GAF? I've been listening to this album "Severant" by Kuedo this week. Never heard of him before until a friend recommended it to me last week, but I'm really liking it. I'd love to get some more albums with a similar sound. It reminds me a lot of Vangelis' Blade Runner soundtrack. Not the drums really. I mean they're fine, but it's the synth work that I love.

OH FUCK! Four Tet and Holden?! Count me in!

Also, best birthday present ever announced today: DJ Sprinkles is DJing the night before my birthday ::dance::

Yeah it's a pretty sick lineup. I bought a ticket but I don't know if any of my friends are going to want to go; the lineup is too "groundbreaking" for them.

WéMè delivered, my NRSB-11 Commodified came with the mail yesterday, one day after its release, not too shabby. Really digging it.

Hey guys, anybody here dabbled in this kind of sound? Looking for some recommendations.

Don't know what it's called by i like that deep bass and them funky kick patterns they got going on in there

Check out from digistores the genre UK Funky, and mixes/songs by Brenmar, Mike Q or Kingdom. From there you can branch off :)

Sounds like Major Lazer is right up your alley! I haven't heard any of their recent stuff, but when Switch was a part of ML... ohhhh shit.

Thanks for the suggestion but that's not really what i'm looking for. I'm up for something more like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwwrOK6u1EQ

I had a feeling their earlier stuff was mostly similar (as I mentioned, while Switch was one half of ML) but maybe not. Either way, Switch is pretty dope regardless :)

Switch - I Still Love You**
Radioclit - Divine Gosa (Switch remix)
Jacknife Lee - Making Me Money (Switch remix)
London Grammar - Metal & Dust (Switch remix)**
The Futureheads - Worry About It Later (Switch remix)

**This is new Switch, which is quite different (though still awesome) to old Switch.

this shit is so unbelievably hot
Jesus christ, that's incredible. Reminds me a lot of the only other track of his I got into, Tell Me.

Admittedly, I often glaze over the links posted here. Having just heard this track on Tumblr, I feel compelled to affirm your !!!!! with a resounding !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This is blowing my mind.
Noooot seeing it, I'm afraid :/

Edit: This was a random recommendation on YT (I think from the Greene track I linked) and it sounds really, really nice. It's old, but I dig it:
Mano Le Tough - Those Lights Are Lives
So that's "deep house". Feels like a while since I've heard something that could fit into that category.

Man, before I knew it was an ad I thought it was a song by a guy called "Flo Commercial". Called "Official Beamz".

Haha, the huge fat guy in it slays me.

Anyway! Seeing this guy tomorrow. Fabric as a club is pretty hit and miss, sometimes the crowd can be aggy and just drugged up twats.
Hoping just to go and have a laugh.. I mean it is garage afterall.

I'd say that's even a little earlier than early 00's. Probably more indicative of the retro stuff *at the time* that people were listening to back then ;)
My favourite track on the album by far. So weird to hear after the fact that he pitched up the hell out of it and it still sounded like that's how it was made. I highly recommend speeding it up when listening to it, too :) (I think around 8% from memory, but it's been a while)

Heh, well its probably a world away from how it was when that came out!
Sadly probably true :(

Man, "back in the day" whenever I was having a bit of a recovery session after a big night out, this was always my go to album, regardless of if I had friends over or was just by myself. Although people got a little over it toward the end, think it was a little too eclectic for them ;)
