i played like 200 shows this year. if you came out… wow. if you stayed at home and listened to my music… wow. if you've supported me in any way this year, i thank you and i owe you. here's an offering.
I've had to read about you countless times in some random internet forum where people struggle to talk about anyone else, Ryan. Do I get thanked as well?

;), obviously

Kind of not electronic but whatever. After listening/watching the Red Bull Academy talk with Moodymann (not realising that was what was sampled by a good number of songs) I now cannot stop listening to this. So goddamn classy.

Moodymann is also such a fun DJ to see, well worth whatever they are charging to see him in your part of the world. He was playing at a festival my friend went to called Strawberry Fields? but she was asleep when he was playing.

Possibly... but for some reason his name caused me to confuse him (I now realise) with Beardyman. I'm sure I've seen his name on a number of flyers for events I've been to, but never seen him "live". I reckon he'd be god-tier at a jivin' little club down a sidestreet in Melbourne (or anywhere, really).

Haha yeah they are pretty much worlds apart. If you can try and find some moodyman sets online, I think red bull has a few. Also you dont realise how much hes been sampled till you hear a set by him!

Picked up a new mixer over xmas, hopefully will arrive on monday then its vinyl (attempt) mixing! def could do with some new needles and some direct drive turntables but Ill make do for now.

Moody is Kenny Dixon Jr. from Detroit. (Mahogoni, Planet E). Earliest I saw him was 99 when he released his famous single Shades of Jae. Listen to that track.

Yeah, I know now... I saw the Red Bull Academy thing he did :) Shades of Jae is pretty great, for some reason I think it re-entered the Beatport charts a year or two ago which is when I discovered it. IMO doesn't hold a patch to the title track on Black Mahogani, but still solid as hell.

He played at this, which sounded fucking amazing. Think he comes down a fair bit though.

Yeah I heard it via a clothes shop would you belive it?
I was in a place called urban outfitters and heard this mad song, tried and failed to shazam it and then foudn they have alot of their stuff online.
Went through a blog of theres listening to stuff and found that tune.
Hah, nice. You find the best music in some of the weirdest places IMO. You tend to enjoy them a little bit more depending on how obscure you found it ;)

For example: Black Van - Yearning. Found it via Shazam on a video LNTG posted on his FB.

*I suspect I've heard it before, the name's damn familiar... but still, glad to have it now!
