Sophie MSMSMSM is listed as playing a club near me this week, should I go?

It was the other 3 I was mostly interested in, but others in this thread will surely say yes. Sophie only has two singles (w/ b-sides) out. Take a listen, but I wouldn't go just for that act.

You're not seeing DfP? For shame.

I'm not going just to see Dimitri from Paris, yo. I want to see Pantha, but that's kind of a really shitty place to go see someone like him. The lineup for that day makes NO sense, who the fuck puts Mumdance on the same bill as Dimitri from Paris?

Very true. You'd think they'd have him at least alongside someone like Todd Edwards. Festival/lineup organisers always seem to stick to the "jack of all trades" lineup, managing to not appeal to anyone rather than appeal to a specific group of people very well. Pisses me off no end.

yo just out of curiosity is there any particular electronic artist you guys would call particularly important/definitive etc of the last 10 years or so? i'm not speaking in terms of popularity. just the guy you see as carving the purest, most essential sonics. so obviously a very subjective question and open to interpretation.

if there were a massive poll i'd have to guess burial would come on top.

i'm just curious because electronic music is so vast and people come from different subgenres and perspectives.

to me it is Actress. before that was Drexciya but that's going too far back. also of supreme importance today are Oni Ayhun and Efdemin

I would add Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Carl Craig, Luke Slater, Ricardo Villalobos, DJ Sprinkles, Maurizio and Basic Channel to that list. Without these guys, and those you mentioned, we wouldn't have a lot of the shit we have now. I could list a TON of people who have been very important to each respective genre, of course, but these are all guys who had an impact across the spectrum and not just within their preferred style.

actually my thaemlitz knowledge is for the most part limited to 120 blues, need to rectify that

You'll have fun. He has a style similar to Gessafelstein, but not quite as noisy (most of the time). I'd go if you're looking for an excuse to get out!
Yeah, I only cottoned-onto Gessafelstein when he was in his less-noisy phase by way of Atmosphere but he got a little more industrial and aggressive after that. Pursuit is still god-tier but it seems like Hacker is where G was when I liked him the most.

I was looking into buying some mk3's and then noticed this. Signed.
I like the idea of the petition, but I honestly don't think there's much need. Given their durability, there are still thousands floating around if you know where to look and very few in states of complete disrepair.

But still... signed!

Amsterdam was fun. Met Dreaver too! nice guy!

Managed to pass out (3 times in very short succession!) at the main show over there cos it was hot as fuck. First time for everything I guess!

So our night looks to be Glacial Sounds and Parris (Keysound/Tempa)
just sorting out the final booking bits :)
