Btw. Is everyone else in this thread a tech/computer nerd, and contribute to other threads here in GAF?. I found this thread originally by googling some random tune and then I bookmarked and eventually registered because people spammed really good shit here.
I've known about gaf for a really long time though I never lurked. Come college though I was too much of a hipster to be caught on more popular sites, and with a .edu email I could now register. This was an easy fix for video game news. My first post was in a thread about the potential of Jak 4 being made, a game which still doesn't exist. The only reason I ended up so active is because I was a commuter student and would be bored out of my mind during spurts of down time on campus.
But I've been into dnb for many many years, and my music tastes have been expanding exponentially for a while now. Neogaf really turned around my opinion non-instrumental hip hop, and turned me onto witch house. In terms of electronic music though I think this thread has really opened my eyes to the world of house. I was strictly UKG, Jungle, IDM before coming into here. Mostly because I hated steady beat stuff until I realized I wasn't listening to the good artists on the other side.
For whatever reason I enjoy keeping up with the video game industry, if only because I've been really fond of the technology and artistry behind it all. I don't find all that much time to play anymore. Usually just some story based game on the side instead of having a book to read. Though I play Super Smash Bros. Melee religiously with my friends.
I really want to go to grad school for audio engineering, and I want to pick up DJing as a hobby. I'd love to start producing a bit. I sort of hate talking about pipe dreams, but I have them none the less. What I've come to learn is that a lot of people are really nerdy about the things they love, for my generation a love for games seems to de facto. I associate myself less and less with being a gamer though, which probably stems from me having some actually skills to begin applying.
I feel like very different person than when I joined, it's pretty sublime.
