The Official NeoGAF Groundbreaking Electronic Music Thread™

I got a new job out west so I made the move two months ago haha. SF is fun, but I do miss the electricity and rush of NYC, that's for sure. I haven't gone partying out in SF just yet, but I need to start discovering what's around here.

Cool, I'll make sure to check them out!
Monarch, Mighty, and Public Works are my favorite venues. 1015 Folsom sometimes, this thursday for Machinedrum actually

Al Green - Love and Happiness (Shoes rework)

I want to play a faster house set for NYE this year, lots of ghetto house, stuff that samples ghetto house, and stuff that accentuates that. Anyone have any less well known suggestions or favorites? I know a lot of the classics, but there will be a lot of music heads there and I want to play some stuff not everyone has already heard.

Paul Johnson - Awww Shit

played a bunch of cool jungle, some dancehall remixes, a few collabs with DJ Rashad, other crazy shit and I think maybe 1 song in an hour and a half that was four on the floor

shame it was in the basement of 1015 Folsom and way too loud. And my earplugs aren't here til monday

doesn't fit perfectly with what's usually discussed in here but this seems the best thread:

Going crazy today over this EP HAINE by dream crusher. I saw the artist on an ambient/drone/noise blog I like. the music definitely fits in the harsh noise category, but underneath visceral static and ear-bleeding bass this record actually has undeniable dancy beats. Loving it. It's not for any dj sets or anything, but it's worth your time if any of this sounds interesting. edit: This Sister Europe song has an honest-to-goodness drop and it's incredible

Has been out for a short while now, actually, I've had my copy at home for some time. Excellent, excellent tune, one of the better all-round underground party tracks that fits in many sets, sort of like Len Faki's remix of Dustin Zahn - Stranger.

Some of you may be into this
LOCAL019c_digi1400px_final.jpg
Mumdance - "One of my favourite albums of 2014, crucial."
- Mr Mitch - "Some of the most beautiful music I've heard this year, no doubt."
- Logos - "Haven't been able to stop listening to this LP - it sounds strangely organic but with a playful poise and cybernetic sheen that recalls video game soundtracks as much as classic grime."

-

In Yamaneko's world, things are rarely as they seem. Although Pixel Wave Embrace is the London-based producer's first release, he's quietly built up a reputation over the last 12 months, with his tracks frequently appearing in sets by Mumdance, Logos and DJ Milktray.

It's an album that deals in illusions: although water is a prominent influence on the record, it's not found in the places you'd expect ('Seabrooke Rise' and 'Primrose Island' have little to do with water), and despite grime being a major influence on Yamaneko, there are no samples from grime records here; instead, he twists samples from the places you'd least expect into the sort of flat snares you'd associate with classic records from unsung grime acts like Imp Batch. Another key part of what makes Yamaneko tick is his love of new age and meditational cassettes; Pixel Wave Embrace was designed for the cassette format and will be released as such.

Pixel Wave Embrace is part of a trilogy of sorts, together with March's Pixel Juice Mix and a Pixel Healing Spa session which will be broadcast in the lead-up to this album's release.

I hate 1015 so much. Really hard to feel motivated to go there, even for someone I love as much as Machinedrum.

I ended up getting a ticket comped for Dixon so I guess i'm gonna ditch my GF and her rents for a night. Excited to finally see him, I've heard so many epic stories about his BPM beach party set.

I don't mind it so much, but it does get way too packed sometimes. And the sound could certainly be better. There aren't really many clubs around that do bass sort of music aside from 1015 too which is a shame
