Happy New Year everyone! From a musical point of view, this year's off to an amazing start, at least for us techno heads. Check these two albums out:
Vril - Portal (techno, dub techno)
L'estasi Dell'oro - I Look Upon Nature While I Live In A Steel City (techno, house, ambient)
The first album's more of a regular deep techno release, though it's amazing with no filler. The second album's more experimental and varied, and really great as well.

Saw Luke Slater, Blawan, James Ruskin, Psyk, Mike Marker, Function and Marcel Fengler at NYE. sooo good, Especially Slater!
Is there anyone in this thread into analog gear and live jamming techno? I'm thinking about jumping into it as well, if it is affordable. I'm loving it, I recently played on a TR-8 at a friend which was a lot of fun. The idea is that I want to 'combine' it with DJ'ing for some neat stuff.
To give you a few examples of what I would like to do: Ansome, Karenn, random Octatrack jamming vid.
I'm really digging the whole style of techno. Now the gear you're seeing here is pretty damn expensive (Tempest, Octatrack, Elektron etc.). Now I've been looking at the Korg Volca Beats drumcomputer which seems to be pretty decent for just $130 to start with.
Another option what I could do is adding Ableton for samples (I've already managed to sync Ableton and Traktor). My current setup is Traktor S2 / Macbook Pro / Xone K2, Oxygen 49 keyboard.
Any advice on what to get? My budget for now is $500ish max, Preferred <$300.

I've been trying to justify heading to Europe for that since the lineup dropped, but I'm not sure work will allow it given our release schedule. Seriously bummed, the new Autechre live show is some serious fire and that whole lineup is just so perfect.
I'm in the mood for some new aggressive DnB/Jungle mixes, anyone have some pointers?

I plan to make an appearance.
Bought the last copy (online) from my record shop. Was about to head to pick it up when I got an email, "yo, this is sold out, one copy is MIA. Thank you for your patience." Will be another two weeks at least until more copies arrive, if any arrive at all...
Giegling doesn't get back from holidays until the 12th, and they've announced a repress will be released on that same day. I'm thinking of canceling and snagging the repress, pretty excited to see what it is going to be!
Although, I kind of need to have "Oh Ah" in my collection.
