I'm so excited to check Santos out soon, there are a couple pretty killer shows coming up. Public Assembly has one of the best sound systems I have EVER heard, and there's a place called Love here that's supposed to be just as good, but with a bit more of a "rave" feel to it, and less of a warehouse aesthetic. The club scene here is outstanding, I'm so glad I made the move from chicago for the music alone!joelseph said:I am still dying to get out to NYC and go to Santos Party House, no clubs like that here in Chicago. I would kill to goto their monthly Infinity. Look at this freaking lineup for the next one.

What? WHAT?!? I still reckon he hasn't topped his remix of Girls in Hats... mind you it WAS the first track of his I'd heard (so there may be some sentimentality there) but still... amazing (and dare I say, game-changing) track.subrock said:hmmm kissy sell out... where do I know that name... oh that's right, I'M OPENING FOR HIM IN SEPT!!!!!
I am sooooooooo stoked for this. biggest show of my career by FAR. just me and him wrecking it!Shaneus said:What? WHAT?!? I find deadmau5's appeal very strange. on the one hand he is pretty straight techno/electronic whatever, but when you play a deadmau5 song at a top 40 type event people go crazy. play some similar like wolfgang gartner and people come and request some "songs with lyrics" and " something thats not techno". very bizarre.bizatch said:omg deadmau5, where have you been all my life?
this song is just bonkers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKi9Z-f6qX4
Details man, details! I've noticed that a majority of parties here announce their location the day before. Its cool in one respect, but it's also obnoxious as hell, and I hate how many lists I've had to sign up to just to keep up with the scene, and I still have no idea what's going on!Davidion said:Love had been kind of assy as of a while ago; it's a love or hate place. They went for the big dark room feel but kinda hit it, kinda missed it. It's grungy, but not in a good way; maybe they fixed it recently.
I should have been to Santos already but have been lazy. Really, promoters haven't been keeping their biggest nights in clubs; lots of that stuff is taken to the warehouses out by the gowanus now.
I need to start partying again. :lol

Saturday was a huge outdoor minimal party at McCarren Park, but I was stuck at work all day. Yesterday, Ame and Delete at... I forget, it's some big rooftop club in Manhattan. Missed that too. Sucks so much, especially after seeing pictures from both parties
Been bumping the Prosumer mnml ssg mix the last few days. Shit is so fire. Finally got myself a proper set of headphones, too, and have been listening to some stuff I haven't listened to in a while and it's like I'm listening to brand new albums! I listened to False's '2007' last night and heard things I never knew existed on that album.
this really just shows how stupid some people are. some people only like something when it's on the radio and can't even like something of the same genre that isn't popular. it's fucking weak. i've encountered this a lot with the parties i've been playing.subrock said:I find deadmau5's appeal very strange. on the one hand he is pretty straight techno/electronic whatever, but when you play a deadmau5 song at a top 40 type event people go crazy. play some similar like wolfgang gartner and people come and request some "songs with lyrics" and " something thats not techno". very bizarre.
its the worst part about being a DJ that gets booked to play lots of shows, instead of just the right shows. I've been turning down gigs because I know that either I wont be happy or the client wont based on what they want. I'd rather be the kind of DJ you hire because he does his thing really well, not because he does everything just okay. if I can kill it in front of the right crowd its wayyyy better for my career.btkadams said:this really just shows how stupid some people are. some people only like something when it's on the radio and can't even like something of the same genre that isn't popular. it's fucking weak. i've encountered this a lot with the parties i've been playing.
In the current age of Ministry of Sound-esque commercialism of DJs and dance music, you'll struggle without a whorish attitude of doing whatever gigs you can. At least you're one of the good ones! If you ever come to Australia, I'll find a way to book yousubrock said:its the worst part about being a DJ that gets booked to play lots of shows, instead of just the right shows. caribou are great. they used to be a sort of boards of canada rip off called manitoba but they have since matured very nicely. I saw them a couple years ago on halloween night and they were magical.Patrick Bateman said:Just got this sent:

Really like it. They did an amazing remix of Hot Chip's "Brother".
yet I'm still getting paid shit-all for my gigs haha! I'm working with a guy that brings in good acts, but he spends so much bringing them in I'm left walking the bars looking for dropped change at the end the night. time for a formal rate increaseShaneus said:Damn, you're blowing up!
To make this post more news-worthy, Miles Dyson is playing in Melbourne on 17th Sept. Can't fucking wait... Daddio was (nay, is) an amazing track.

I'm not one to flog his own mixes to death (not to mention that I haven't updated my site in over a year) but go to www.shaneus.com and check out my All Systems Go mix. Yeah, old, but it's a really good party mix with some fairly commercial stuff in it (though it gets a *little* hard towards the end).funk0ar said:Hey dude can you guys suggest some mixes that are good for a house party, Something a bit more upbeat I think. Cheers.
