First time we ever met Bok Bok was at Ballers Social, the night Joey used to run on our behalf in Glasgow. I remember sittin backstage in Stereo (Sushon’s second show with Joe in Glasgow) with a blinking bar light, sat on cheap plastic seating with Jack Revill aka Jackmaster talking about how metronome-tight Oneman was – How he was ‘techno tight’. I mean, a DJ’s-DJ is kind of a rare thing in 2011 when even the guy who cleans your windows probably fucks with Serato. SALEM will be playing Chicago in March, meh. I wish we could get Jamie and the like.

Can't wait for April! So much good stuff happening. Two nights in a row of Joy Orbison, the Unsound Festival the same weekend, my friend is throwing a going away party and we're going to get one of the dudes from Mount Kimbie to spin alongside myself and four of our friends.

In the meantime, FaltyDL this Friday (free!), Ben Klock and DVS1 on Saturday, Marcel Dettmann+Surgeon+Steffi next Friday, GREG WILSON on 3/05, Todd Terje the next week... I'm going to be broke by May, and the year is just starting!

I'm really starting to turn around on Jamie xx. Didn't care for him at all when I first heard about him, but he's pretty dope! Saw a review of "We're Not Here" in the New York Times today which made me do a double take.

Anysquazies, I figured out the problem to my mixer. The sampling rate needed to be set to 48000, not 41. I had tried that before, but I guess the setting didn't save and so didn't work and I failed to check it until today. Works flawlessly now! So, in honor, I put together a disco-inspired mix! I've been on a huge disco and Chicago house kick as of late, and just wanted to make something a little more party appropriate. Enjoy!

It's way too big for my personal taste tbh, and it's even bigger than last year now. (35.000 people)

But my GF insists I go with her, it's her fav festival of the year.
I'll probably just stay at 1 or 2 areas all day.

Basically I'm having some sound quality issues. As I'm recording a set, the quality of the sound goes bad and I hear like...scratchiness? Really hard to explain but it doesnt happen throughout the entire song. It just becomes scratchy suddenly, like a low quality song.

Any ideas?

Check your latency settings on your mixer, it may be too low. Alternatively, try changing the sampling rate from 41khz to 48khz. I was having a similar issue, except it was a fluttering, metallic sound you hears upon playback. Changing the latency would fix it for 60 mins, tops, if I was lucky, but increasing the sampling rate did the trick right quick.

Yup, and on top of that, make sure both "Safe Mode" and "Overclock" in the VDJ preferences are turned off.

- You really, really, REALLY need to turn up the bass. Everything is incredibly flat.

- I'm not sure if it's you on vocals, but the voice is horrible. Zero range, pitch problems and it doesn't complement the melodies at all. I'm not saying you should scrap it, because the instrumentation is too generic to stand on it's own, but play with filters and/or delivery structure.

In its current state it's too mediocre and generic to go anywhere, but there's enough potential to suggest you keep working at it.

EDIT: "MicroVolts" is several magnitudes better than "Be Mine"

Heard this on 2562's xlr8r and it was love at first listen, though this is being categorized as...post...dubstep?

I realized I tend to like the "post" sounds of all these trends that hit the past 4-5 years since it all involves people who, instead of hopping on the same sounding me-too bandwagon, takes some ideas and feelings from the sounds and goes back to apply it to classic genres like house, disco, even two step. It's encouraging.

Not any that's publicized, unfortunately. I still rock his annie nightingale set from a couple of years ago but haven't been hearing his name much since.
