^^ Some nice picks there, for sure :) (though some I'd hesitate to call "trance", but that's being nitpicky).

On a slight tangent, have a listen to this:
Push - Universal Nation (James Harcourt remix). Great modernisation of a classic. I actually reckon it pulls the original down to a more backroom-esque minimal track.

Oh, for real ultimate trance (or just as an excuse to post an old favourite), one half of Energy 52 did this:
Cosmic Baby - Fantasia. If you have headphones... turn off all the lights, close your eyes and lose yourself. Gives me goosebumps and almost makes me weep it's that fucking good.

Jam & Spoon - Follow Me for similar reasons, too :)

(I'd strongly recommend tracking down high quality versions of both tracks, too... both are totally worth it over crappy YT compression)

Hey guys, I am very confused by all the sub-genres of Electronic music. I think that my favorite genre is progressive trance, but I was hoping I could list out all my favorite artists/songs and you guys could tell me if that's accurate:

^ Looks like a mix of newer prog and tech house, a little electro house and a little trance.

been listening to:
1299700147_cover.jpg

not bad. sort of schizophrenic on the genre style (its basically all house), but it has a few solid bangers:

bionic
demons
nu control (this is VERY reminiscent of early 2000s uberzone)
the day i die (video is a little disturbing)

also various coachella bootlegs. mostly the high contrast show i was front rail for.

Way to butcher the classics man. Can still see myself playing it though, for my sins.

Natch. Still, the Lone remix is warm, upbeat, and goes down easy. Lone is getting really "one-note," though, and I'd almost rather just play "Once In A While" instead of this, but hey, whatever.

Agreed... feels like my teenage years are being bent over. Sadly, I just can't see anyone getting away with playing the original (unless it's in a room where it's expected). However, I've just stumbled upon the Tom Middleton remix (who I have mad respect for) and it is both modern AND respects the original.

Another awesome Tom Middleton track (though for some reason I think I may have linked it here before)

Love Tom's version. That part where everything fades out and then fades back in is delicious.

I'd only just heard it today! In fact, I've really only just started listening to Middleton's stuff and am getting right into it.

Fun fact: The Golden Girls are/were actually Orbital.

thats funny, I dont really care to see anyone on that list either, haha. possibly doorly (unless he's gone full dubstep since I last heard him) and modeselektor if the soundsystem is good.

edit: and erol alkan depending what mood he's in.

Aeroplane MIGHT be fun, but I have no idea how they sound now that it's only the one guy (the guy who didn't produce any of their good work)... Booka Shade also MIGHT be fun, but they've kind of really flopped a lot ever since they released Body Language Vol. 1 (in my opinion)...

Tom Middleton is fantastic, one of the greatest producers around but his mix of this is a bit weak in my opinion.

Frenetic is my favourite version of the song. Not sure if you're familiar with it.

Does anybody else listen to the Sirius/XM radio stations BPM and Area?

Sometimes they play goofy shit, but sometimes they play dat good stuff.

Speaking about Tom, I had the pleasure of running into him at Electric Zoo 2009... (hopefully that link works).

Really really cool and extremely humble/down to earth (for someone who created such jawdroppingly epic tracks).

And speaking about Electric Zoo 2011... the first phase of the lineup has been revealed. And I'm extremely happy so far, Tiesto headlining day 1. John Digweed, Luciano, Loco Dice (don't him and Luciano now have beef?), Above and Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Carl Cox, and this is just phase 1!!! And some group called Super Mash Bros, which is an awesome name. Getting my tix this weekend.

I really hate how long Insomniac takes to announce their EDC Vegas lineup. They have only announced the headliners for each day and its coming in like 1 month. Tiesto headlining day 1 there too FYI, but I'm guessing you're on the east coast.

UM HI PLASTICMAN LIVE?!

Rest of the lineup (so far) isn't blowing me away, but Luciano, Loco Dice, Plasticman, Richie and Cox is enough to convince me to go this year.

Figured I might as well throw this out here.

Does anybody want to go to Above & Beyond at the Palladium on Friday? I bought too many tickets to resell and I think I'm going to have to take a hit on them. Might as well try helping out a GAFer before getting ripped off by a stranger.

PS. Jaytech and Mat Zo are opening

Holy shit. Love you! Maybe sprinkle in some Leftfield for good measure?
Edit: I bet I could name the tracks, too. At least, most of them :)

Oh, live bedroom mix or Ableton/sequenced?

probably going to do it in ableton because I can work on it at school and perfect it, but if I like it when I get it all organized I may just throw it down live to flex those muscles.

going to throw in "cut for life" by leftfield come to think of it :)

Radical! The only thing I might add to that is some Plaid, hah. I had a mixtape a friend of mine made waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day that had most of these guys (nearly everyone, really, funny enough), with the highlight being the MK2 Edit of "Little Fluffy Clouds". I wore that tape down until it broke in my car's cassette player. Looking forward to this!
