A DJ spins music together and blends it into a cohesive piece. A producer produces (creates) music.

This is pretty good, I've been meaning to get some Zedd, funny you linked his remix. I'm pretty satisfied with the mix overall. It's not for everyone for sure, there's a lot of cheese but then a lot of heavy bass.

I'm sure you already have his Zelda theme track, considering where we are... :p

Ha, indeed! That's how I first heard of him a while back.

Update on friend's for fun radio, he'll be going on with my set list in about 10 minutes here's the stream address http://radio.thedarksyndicate.com:8000/listen.pls Plug into itunes/VLC or whatever you have.

edit: The set is a little over an hour 1/2.

edit2: And he just went into an old mix I gave him months ago after, which is just my driving mix.

I started work on another mixtape, I wanted to have a much edgier sound, but eventually I fell back into disco house in the middle of my set for about 3 songs but I nailed the tempo I wanted to achieve, at least. Heavy fist pumping shit. 20 songs, 60 minutes.

Enjoy, EDM-GAF:

This past Saturday marked a huge day for me: it was my anniversary of moving to NYC and also the anniversary for the last time I did dope. I moved to NYC to get clean, and it's been a smashing success. To commemorate the day, I made a mix as a present to all the people who helped me through it. It's a deep house/techno roller and I hope y'all enjoy.

RsvtK.png

A Blueprint of the Pleasure Inside of Me
Andy Stott - Florence
Deadbeat - Xberg Ghosts
Luke Hess - Transform
Patrice Baumel - Lovers
Ryo Murakami - Nightmares
Smallpeople - A Place Called Dream
Blawan - Getting Me Down
Aril Brikha - Contact
Andy Stott - Massacre
Addison Groove - Make Um Bounce
Cosmin TRG - Sirop
Conforce - Fictional Environment (Delta Funktionen Remix)
Blawan - Kaz

Apologies for the late comments, but I finally took a listen... interesting selection of tunes on it, I like the beginning part with the deep house vibes especially. But my favorite track is Blawan "Getting Me Down". Very different and original, that sped up R&B vocal reminds me so much of 2-step garage but set to some strange, woozy minimal backdrop. The Aril Brikha track is great too, huge fan of his productions.

Congrats on getting clean and one year in NYC! Did you ever get your residency worked out? Since I would love to come catch you spin live.

Also, I know there are a number of fans of dub/berghain techno on these boards. So I'll have to pimp a friend of mine's 2-hour mix, beautiful ambient intro followed by droney, loopy, and deep dub techno.

Intro - Voice From a Fantastic Planet
Reeko - Untitled [Mental Disorder]
Hironori Takahashi - Medue (Obtane Puppetmachine Remix) [Stroboscopic Artefacts]
Jobody - E-scape 1 [Apologue]
Space DJz - Elliptical Orbit [Perc Trax]
Andy Stott - Passed Me By [Modern Love]
Sound of the Enders - Lloyd's Theme [Cyclical Tracks]
Hakimonu - Spread Oneself [Hakimonu]
Mokira - Manipulation Musik (Redshape Tape Dub) [Kontra Musik]
Frank Martinik - Golden Dusk (Panther Version by Scott Grooves & Kataconda) [Curle]
Claudio PRC and Terrence Fixmer - Lunar Forest [Prologue]
Bekeschus - Firefly [Snapshot Records]
James Kumo - Trip Trap [Falkplatz]
O/V/R - Post Traumatic Son (Marcel Dettmann Construction 2) [Blueprint]

Whoa hey there! Thanks for listening, glad you liked it. That Blawan track flipped my lid the first time I heard it, and still gives me a bad case of the "boogie-woogies" anytime I listen to it. The residency thing turned out to be a bust. My friend just flaked out on me, hard. It was pretty much a done deal, but then he got all weird and wouldn't get me in touch with the people and now seems to be avoiding me. Whatevah, I don't think I was really ready at the time, anyway. I'm saving up to get a proper rig, as right now I'm just using a Vestax Typhoon and it's a piece of crap. Works fine and all, but it's chunky, has no EQ kills and the lag is brutal. Once I get me a proper mixer I'm gonna start making the rounds.

Your friend's mix looks epic, definitely going to be checking that one out!

So, I have been shitting myself over these two mixes for the past week: Scuba Live @ Sonar 2011.06 and Braille Hotflush Podcast. The Scuba mix is one of the best house mixes I have heard in a very, very, VERY long time. The tracklist is unbelievable and 75% of the tracks are unavailable for purchase ;_; It's destroying me. The Braille mix, however, is a little more UK Funky leaning, but with a very solid house vibe throughout. One song, though, gives me absolute goosebumps: Rainbow Arabia - Blind (Salva Remix). Anyone with any interest in house, electro-house, electro, disco, whatever, should listen to this song. It. Is. Juicy.

Also, did anyone see that DEEPCHILD is giving away two of his albums for free? Check it! http://www.deepchild.com/blog/?p=1664 Chocolate Dubs is great, haven't had a chance to listen to the other album.

Really great mix. Been listening to it a lot.

Too many people to list that I want to see.

Also Touchbass/Subrock what happened to that mix you were working on? I assume lifes got in the way of it all? Your mixes got me right back into electronic music, cant even bring myself to take any of them off my MP3 player!

You guys heard of Austra? It's a Canadian group, with a former opera singer as the vocal. My brother introduced me to their debut album last week and I've been listening to it non-stop.

This is some good shit! Reminds me of a lighter The Knife sometimes which is probably the greatest compliment I could give to an electronic band :p

Opera singer. She studied piano and violin and, as a child, sang with the Canadian Opera Company. Later, after years of private lessons, she was set to study opera in college. But deep down inside, Stelmanis says she knew that all she really wanted to do was make "classical music with really f—— up, distorted, crazy s— on there." It was a singular, and certainly colorful, vision that eventually led the ivory-voiced singer to abandon school, discover electronica and form the band Austra.

Andrew Bayer's album is finally out, combining trance, progressive, glitch-hop, techno and more in to one amazing package!

He's playing an amazing guest mix on Trance Around The World at the moment, really killing it!

Question, I figure this is the best place to ask, I really wanna start getting into fooling around with some software and experiment with making my own tunes, I've never played an instrument before, and have 0 musical background, where do you guys recommend is the best starting point? Both software-wise and some kind of beginners lessons to break down the basics and such? Thanks!

If you are feeling Machinedrum check out Ceeda

I have the LP ordered, I would be happy to part with the 320 code once it arrives. <3

So where can I find lists of the classics? Probably house (progressive/disco/electro), UK garage, etc.etc.?

Hmm... that's a great question. A classic list for House music would stretch multiple subgenres, and will have 25 years worth of stuff in it.

I'll give a few classic prog songs of mine to get you started:

Bedrock-Heaven Scent
Breeder-Twilo Thunder, The Chain

That's an awesome idea, and one that I may actually be able to contribute to, considering how little time I have lately and how I want to plan out an awesome mix but have "analysis paralysis" due to all the songs/genres I want to use.

Yeah I'm on and off about Juke/footwork. Machinedrum basically slaps the whole post-dubstep/future garage sound onto it and it happens to work really well.

I'll check out Ceeda.

So a friend(sorta) of mine sent some tracks ready for his next EP, and wow he is defintely going to be something in the underground Danish electronic scene.

I've uploaded them to my dropbox, so just right click and download:

Aebeloe - Gæst

Aebeloe - Nom

I really like Farver and the last preview. If you dig them check out some of his other tracks on youtube:

Piros
