I guess I'll ask. Anyone know any of the "codes" or know of a place with the location of all the Jedi Holocrons yet?

Haven't been able to confirm these as of yet, but feel free to try 'em out.

Using these might mess up gaining achievements.Input these in input code tab in the pause menu.
MANDALORE: General Rahm Kota
WOOKIEE: Kento's Robe
DANTOOINE: Ceremonial Jedi Robes
KORRIBAN: Sith Stalker Armor
HOLOCRON: Sith Robes
MARAJADE: New combo
LIGHTSABER: Amplified damage
KATARN: Increase force powers to maximum level
SITHLORD - Get Darth Vader
JEDIMASTER - Get Mace Windu

I've been playing this game for an hour (Wii version) and so far I enjoy it. I've written my first impressions (in spanish) which you can fin here: http://www.pulsastart.es/2008/09/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-primeras-impresiones/

Important points:
- Being a badass is always fun, and it seems like The Force Unleashed will let you be a badass.
- There's a tutorial stage where you play as Vader. It's fun and you feel powerfull.
- Once you play as the apprentice you realise you have the same powers as Vader does, plus the ability to double jump and run, and dash as well. Obviously the powers are not as... powerfull.
- Combat with light sabers works well. You can waggle in four different directions and you avatar will do the same.
- Powers are easy to pull off and are... powerfull. You feel like a very powerfull person in this game.
- There's a targeting system that works for the most part. However when you get close to things or are sorounded is when it suffers more. Coul've used the pointer, but I'm not certain it would have worked better because the fast pacing of the game.
- The camera can be a pain in the ass in close combat and small rooms.
- Action and more action and then some more action. There're small concesions to platforms and puzzles, though.
- Very fast paced action. It feels even a bit rushed.
- No inner moral problems from what I've played. You're bad and everybody is your enemy. Attacking two different groups only mean you have to face two different kind of enemies.
- Good atmosphere brought down by the technical level. The Wii can simply do more.
- Solid framerate overall.
- Solid 3D action game. Probably the best on the Wii (which only shows how lacking is the genre on the console).
- Have to play some more to see how it stands in the long run.

For those who have the game, does it state anywhere on the box that the game is in DTS? I bought the PS3 version because AgentOtaku mentioned in the review thread that the PS3 version has superior sound compared to the 360 version because of the DTS encoding.

However, I bought the Australian (Region 4) version of the game and I only see "Dolby Digital" on the back of the box. DTS is not mentioned anywhere. If the Australian version doesn't have the DTS track then I'm returning it for the 360 version.

Can anyone confirm?

Picked up a copy from TRU. The $20 gift card was advertised under the game display, and the cashier had a stack of cards ready to go at the register.

Going to head over to GameStop at lunch and turn my preorder into either a copy of DQIV or a preorder for Chrono Trigger DS. None of our local GameStops did midnight releases, and none are offering the preorder bonus figure.

Uhhh, so can anyone confirm whether the North American PS3 version states on the box that the game has DTS audio?

I'm not seeing a clarification on the box-- however, I can assure you that it indeed has DTS, because when I was playing the game last night my receiver told me so. I was even kinda surprised.

Well, as I said above, I got the Australian version which only says that it has Dolby Digital on the box so I'm wondering whether the NA version states that it's DTS on the box.

I'm a little hesitant to open it since that would mean I can't exchange it for the 360 version.

Alright, I finally opened my game and my receiver shows the game as outputting audio in PCM Multichannel. If I turn off all the audio output options in the PS3 settings, I get DTS showing on my receiver.

Should I let the PS3 output PCM Multichannel or DTS to get the best possible sound?

doing the ps2 version , i agree with IGN's review that they should've just used pre rendered versions of the ps3/360 version cutscenes, because the animations and faces in cutscenes look really awful.

other then that its fun, the apprentice is a cool guy, eh fights the jedi and doesn't afraid of anything. :p

Finished the Wii version and...eh. I've played worse. It's nice to see a third party game on Wii with some effort put into it. I doubt I'll bother finishing the 360 version.

This game is:

Start level -> Kill hundreds of guys that keep on spawning somewhere -> Big enemy appears -> Duel with a jedi

Over and over and over again.

Plus they hit you on the floor, they hit you on the combos, they hit you every-fucking-where.
Plus too much shit on every level to make the targeting system work.
Plus too easy to fall out everywhere
Plus wonky menus.

Also, in the middle of the game "You earn a level, go to the abilities screen to distribute the points", okay, cool. Start -> abilities......loading?? wtf? it has to load 10 seconds to arrive to a stupid, bad designed, abilities screen? ITS 2008 GUYS.

Apart from that, when it works it's a good game, but when it doesn't it's reaaaly bad.

Looking to a bunch of popular shops, you can see that the Wii-Version is selling as good as the HD-Counterparts. I hope that this will be signal in the right direction.

Can't wait for thing Game, my first Wii-Starwars-Title.

Those are actually two of the benefits of having the PS2/Wii version and were some of the complaints I felt during the PS3 demo.

I am not even sure you can fall to your death in the version by KROME (and I have tried in the repair bay level where you stack the tie fighter wings to use as a ladder and in the one planet where you are hunting down Shakk Ti)

When I went to GameStop at lunch to cancel my preorder, the clerk had nothing but good stuff to say about the Wii version. Downplayed the difference in graphics and highlighted the Wiimote duel mode.

I swear I go to Bizarro GameStop, at least if all the internet stuff I read is the norm. No grief for cancelling my 360 preorder, didn't try to sell me a gutted copy of DQIV, and pointed out that both of the used copies of Panzeer Dragoon Orta they had were scratched to hell and warned me off of them.

Anyway, can't wait to get home and play the 360 version that's been sitting on my desk since 10:30AM.

About to go and rent this. Which version seems to be the best? I have PS3, 360 and Wii.

What are you wanting out of it? The Wii version has dueling between 2 players as as an extra, but the HD twins have superior graphics which help when telling the story

I prefer the Wii version myself (gameplay over graphics)

I'm wondering the same actually, anyone?

At my store we had more preorders for the Wii version than the PS3, PS2, DS, PSP, a lot more actually. 360's was its own beast though (doubled the Wii's preorders).

The only major complaint I have about the Wii version is the animation in cutscenes is pretty shitty. Changes in facial expression are instant most of the time, making it look very amateur. It gets the job done, but it can be pretty distracting.

That aside, I think it's definitely more fun than the 360 version (and PS3 if they're identical). The duel mode is a blast too.

2 hours into the Wii version (second trip to the Jedi Temple) and so far the game is mindless fun. More or less a light weight God of War but with Star Wars as the theme.

Good:

Nunchuck force motion controls are awesome in a nerdy star wars fan kinda way. Very satisfying setting up a few enemies in the air and then punishing them in various ways (pushing obstacles into them, snapping their necks, or simply slamming them straight into the ground). All executions are tied to motions that make sense and are easy to remember. Visceral is the best way to describe this version of the game.

Leveling system is nice, and is usally the reason I won't skip sections of a stage that has a lot of enemies in it (you get level-up orbs with each kill).

Nice soundtrack and audio effects, even if they aren't exactly DTS crystal clear.

Bad:

Camera goes wonky when you're in a tight corridor with a crap-load of enemies attacking. Though it's easy as hell to correct with the d-pad (only left and right adjustmnets needed). Auto targeting helps for bosses, though I wish there was an option for a click and hold targeting as well (to make running through the environment a little easier).

Visuals are straight up PS2. Outside of some minor bump-mapping and depth of field effect (when enemies get close to the camera), it's pretty generic, but typical of a 3rd party wii game nowadays.

Short, and the enemy AI is retarded.

Yeah they remind me of the old animatronic figures at Disney World, or those moving holiday figures you can by at the store every holiday season.

I was actually impressed by the good use of blur and colors in the Wii version as well

The guy probably doesn't speak english well. Lay off, will ya?

Looks like I made the right choice to go with the Wii version. I'm renting the 360 version through GameFly.

Now, I gotta Ebay my Stormtrooper Commando. (Came free with pre-order.)

I also agree they should've used the 360's cut scenes. The female pilot's eyes were really buggy. They were popping out of her skull.

Played through the Wii version with a friend yesterday and the day before, this game is short, like only little more than 5 hours to complete the story mode.

It was a fun romp, though. Graphics are so-so for the Wii, some scenes and levels where the nice lighting really comes through and some where it just looks like another PS2/Xbox game. Controls are pretty fun after you get used to them, I liked them much better than the 360 demo I played.

All in all a decent game, but certainly nothing special.

Is there something inherently wrong with buying the Wii version?

No, but it does not use any of the tech of the other versions. Not that the tech helped the game, judging from reviews, but the DMM and Euphoria stuff is not in the Wii version.

markatisu said:

Not at all. I just think it's funny cause the game was supposed to be all about the high tech physics and what not, but the Wii version turned out to be the most enjoyable ;D

Yeah I think this is a case where the idea of motion controls is what is selling the game

Probably one of the few times "waggle" is a plus :lol

I know thats what sold it for me, after playing the PS3 demo the game just seemed to me like another pretty HD game but not much else

What were you expecting the game play to be like? Help the Jedi do their taxes lol
I mean it's an action game, so yes there will be alot of action, there are some puzzle elements though very minor. I don't think the game style is any different then other similar action games. Not to say there aren't problems, as you mention below...

Most annoying two problems I have with the game. I can overlook the minor collision issues but these 2 problems are horrible and make the game frustrating.

Didn't fall out of the world, but I did have one time where I got knocked into a box I couldn't get out of which forced me to reload the level. People seem to be complaining about crashes too, but so far *knocks on wood* I haven't had the game crash yet (360 version).

The load times are annoying in the menus, but the menu flow seemed okay.

2.65 gigs from what store display boxes state.

4 minutes 45 seconds on the install time.

The sound is incredible on the PS3 version. I've got an Onkyo 605 and a cheap set of Yamaha 5.1 satellite speakers and sub. I'm not sure if its running in DTS. I'll have to look at my receiver next time I play it.

I've been through the first 2 levels so far and I don't think its a bad game at all. But its not great either. Someone above me posted about the Ninja Gaiden camera syndrome and that is correct because this game suffers from it. I get the occasional enemy attacking me from behind and I've always felt that's a cheap style of gameplay and it sucks. Its not excessive or game breaking, but it happens enough to almost annoy me.

The story line has me hooked so far. Much more than the game play.
