Rose looks like her portrait's 2nd cousin, once removed. At best, her fat older sister from her mother's previous marriage.

I think visually, Rose made a terrible transition to SF4. I miss the flowing of her scarf/clothes during her standing and walking animations in SFA.

edit: oh, and that crouching punch thing you figured out that made all my jump in attempts whiff, no one's ever done that to me before!
If we're talking about Chun, I believe that's her cr. mp. It works as anti-air against certain characters' jump-ins if you're positioned right. It's a big help since cr. hk tends to trade a lot on jump-ins, depending on the character you're fighting.

I've just started playing this game moving from SSF2T and SF3TS and I get slaughtered by Cammy.

I'm playing Abel because it feels like a good mix of Makoto and Alex (with some Fei too).

Any tips?

Abel's j.MK cross-up is godly, I hate it it then he can easily land a cr.MP into QCF+P, F+P, F+P. easy and annoying (for me)

To me, one of his keys is having the rapid fire low shorts to set up the low/throw/cross-up/slower poke (to catch jumps) guessing. Also, standing short is a nice poke.

Also with Chun, if it's a close st. fierce, it'll anti air the fuck out of anything and everything.

It wasn't even an anti air, it just changed chuns hitbox so that my jump in attack whiffed, then chun had frame advantage and attacked again right as i landed.

just do option select/shoryu....if your jump-in misses....she'll eat a dragon punch

He's getting meaty hit during jump recovery, so I don't think that would work. However, the weakness of c MP or c MK is that they don't work against angled attacks.

Yeah, there was a distinct lack of option select shoryu in our matches, which I mentioned earlier. I can't even follow my own shitty guides.

You know what though? I REALLY think option select shoryu is bullshit. If there's anything about Ryu that's bullshit it's gotta be option select shoryu. I honestly would not care if that was removed from super.

I'm on if anyone wants matches - USVI STAR on XBL.

I pretty much leveled up my Cammy, just learned that her standing MK is a deadly weapon against Bison.

I accidentally forgot to turn off in game challenges and now I'm trying to beat Seth and someone keeps connecting halfway through the 2nd round all the time.

Is there no way to turn off this shit in the game? Do I have to go back to the goddamn main menu and lose my progress?

What kind of stupid shit is this.. ARGH..

Hey fellas. I just bought SFIV during the Steam sale for ten bucks, and I'm having a hell of a time making hits with my wireless 360 controller. I suck ass at fighters, so thats definitely a part of it, but I can't help but feel like some moves aren't coming out right. I mean, I can't even complete Sakura's combo "Training Challenge".

At my abysmal skill level, I ain't spending on an arcade stick, but 40 seemed reasonable. Would the MadCatz fightpads be a good choice to improve my game a little? Are they of good make?

sorry for sucking on our first set qcf, i haven't slept in like 22 hours cause it was the first day of school and I didn't want to oversleep so I just stayed up, thus played on autopilot/braindead. I kept trying over and over again to srk > fa but somehow I only did it like 2 out of 20 tries? I wasn't even trying to ultra or anything out of it, I for some reason just couldn't execute AT ALL and got pissed off because of it so kept attempting it over and over. I mean, all you do is hit two buttons, there's no way I should not at the least do the FA part, forget about a dash cancel and a move/ultra afterwards! I also thought I throw teched you on a shitload of those throws but it didn't work, and I kept testing the lag with jabs and it didn't seem that bad! Bah! Tired. Anyways, we'll play again soon. GG's man.

Hahaha, that happened to me the other day! Maybe it was vs. you?

Darker backgrounds > bright / white backgrounds.

And (not directed at your post specifically) the text on SRK's re-design isn't white, it's grey. Sounds like the contrast ratio or whatever might be too high on your monitor if the letters are practically glowing.

Did you look at SRK yesterday? I could have sworn the text was bright white. It's gray today.

This guy removed me from his friend list, because I've been beating him too much. He was playing Akuma, I was playing Gouken. This wasn't some Sanford vs Shine shit where a guy barely edges out a vet, dude wasn't randomed out in the slightest. I beat him 8-1(best of 5) and left cuz I had to head out the house. I return to my ps3 to find a paragraph written about what evils lag had wrought on his akuma(there was no discernible lag though we had issues last we played), the guy missed no links I, I simply played patiently. He replies back to me like 3 more times saying that I suck(despite losing to me every time we play). This guy is like the ps3 version of DSP. I hate it when people can't take there L's and leave it be. I'm by no means the greatest Gouken player(see Jugs), but couldn't he at least give me my props instead of being a pussy hurt little bitch?

200.jpg

The guys akuma was easy to read, I could see his raging demon set ups coming from a mile away. Him teleporting to me so I can grab him/punish him followed by him teleporting in front of me thinking I don't know he's about to do ultra all the while thinking I'm going to go for grab to ultra or gohadouken or some shit.....nah that demons gonna eat shin shoryuken straight up homie. I don't like poor sports, I can lose to the same guy over and over and give props where its due.

Did you notice a lot of lag? It was two bars but I kept testing it and didn't notice a whole lot, which is why I was getting really confused/frustrated by a lot of stuff that was happening.

There was delay for sure, but it wasn't really that bad and definitely wasn't as bad as I'd expect with 2 bars. Just get your sleep man, you probably were beating yourself.

Eh, probably got a good 5-6 hours til I can sleep, but no more street fighter for tonight!

Man up and fight that Claw son!

I would play but I'm in class right now. :/

Is it me or Zangief is terribly overpowered?

BTW, I'm suffering a strange problem with my 360 controller. Everytime I push normal kick (LB button) while pressing down and back on the d-pad, my character will jump backwards. Anybody having the same problem?

He's just a little bit overpowered. When he has you knocked down and he jumps in on you, you're basically at the mercy of his massively powerful mixup. And it sounds like you have a d-pad issue. Pushing LB shouldn't have anything to do with it, though.

A similar problem happens to me, too. When I'm El Fuerte, after I score a knockdown, I'll run to my opponent and attempt a corpse hop (forward + kick). Sometimes, instead of hopping, he'll jump forward.

I dunno...maybe the controller is just really, really sensitive to the "up+forward/backward" motion; we may hit it and just not know it.

I know that whenever I'm Guile, I have a really hard time going from a crouching block to a regular standing block without accidentally making him jump backwards.

serious question: has any game made you more salty than street fighter has?

The only one that comes to mind for me is Starcraft.

Only when a bullshit play happens or a Sagat beats me in 5 seconds after I had spent 25 seconds perfecting him. Something similar with Zangief =P

I honestly don't think so. Halo 2 or 3 would be the closest I think. But yeah, when I first started playing SFIV, I only really played my friend who only played Ken or Ryu. I was Chun. I didn't really understand how powerful the SRK was in the game, and kept going for moves that I thought should work and they kept getting SRKed over and over. Got really mad. Since then I learned how to play around the SRK, and I get much less frustrated.

Tekken and VF easily. It's a lot harder to get randomed out in SF4.

No, not really. I just despise his lariat. The hit box on it is retarded. Other than that, he's pretty much same 'ol Gief. He has a lot of health, but he has to work to get inside to deliver punishment.

And love the trailer. Crazy Guile and Fei Long combos.

Easily Mario Kart Wii. The game is designed to infuriate you, becoming more frustrating the better you get at it.

Street Fighter II (any version) vs CPU. F*ck that noise. I always reset the game if I got Ryu right before Shadaloo 4. He became impossible for some reason. And Guile with his bullshit no charge booms/flash kicks.

More than SF4? Probably not. Madden and Mario Kart are right up there though...

GGs Hito. I swear, I think Chun's sweep killed JFK. That thing snipes me out of everything. I'll go into an EX Barcelona Attack off your wall and be face to face with Chun and then get tripped. :(:lol

If anyone else wants to play on XBL I'll be around for a couple more hours. It might say I'm away since I'm on the computer but just shoot me an INV.

Not a videogame, but basketball can either be really fun or piss you the fuck off. I've gotten way saltier over ball than I have over street fighter.
