Ibuki might be able to jump cancel normals into ultra. There's not really any other similarities that I can think of, but if she can do that, Viper players will make the transition most easily I guess.
Both of her ultras are on the ground it seems, but she definitely can super from her command jump.

I dunno if they can make Ibuki's super worth the meter. Before it was a short bar with 3 stocks, now it's a long bar with only one stock. Hell, the only way to combo it in 3rd Strike was to EX so I'm not quite sure how it'll work in SSF4. But who knows at this point.

haha finished all mine up a week or so ago.

Vipers were a pain in the ass, but like Kadey said, after some repetition, they're so damn fun and rewarding. The way the trials 4 and 5 are set up, they're actually harder than if you just SJC and do BK in the air, as opposed to the super low BK they require you to do in the trial

Viper's are pretty hard, but a lot of my problems stem from trying to get past 16+ years of Street Fighter on a pad to somewhere near a year with a stick, plus SFIV's somewhat annoying shortcut system...

I might take a break on them again till next week, when I have more time again...

If you're getting ex seismo, you're probably either not hitting d or f during the 2nd qcf (if you do it like me and do qcf+u then the 2nd qcf). Just gotta keep working on that execution.

Her trail #2 is what gives me trouble whenever I go back and redo her trials, because it's not something I ever do in a match. I had to cheat on that one my first time through.

And yeah, I have the same problem with RSF. Can do the first 2 no problem but can't do any after that.

Yup, I know that I don't practice nearly as much as I should on the stick lately, and what's worse is trying to cancel in the insane speed they want you to do it in, and concentration on proper execution goes right out the window...

I'm so tempted to go try the RSF again - I just got home, and it's bugging me that I'm so close to getting it done - in theory, his Trial #4 is MUCH harder than his RSF, but yeah...

From the video it seems she can still crossup kunai and super at the same time.

From my (admittedly little) 3S knowledge and some google help, I looked up her move list and some of her tactics, and she looks kinda execution heavy. Some of the former Ibuki players on SRK felt right at home with Viper too. Lots of overlap in her moveset before and both a command dash and jump. Plus SJC's and chains. Who knows how they'll put her in Super, but they want the old characters to keep a decent amount of their old stuff.

I just am trying to be safe than sorry :lol

GGs yesterday KillaBMike ! I was the Chun on XBL. Your execution with Cammy was top notch and your pressure forced me to work on my ground game/footsies. Ibuki was one of the character designs that really stood out for me in SF3 so I'm hoping to pick her up in Super. Hopefully I can make it work despite my crap execution.

Guile vs Sagat and Zangief, I'm guile.

What the fuck do I do?

Vs sangief you are going to have to zone him like a madman, sonic boom and back fierce punch. You can also jump in when he does his lariat with a jumping fierce kick... just has to be timed correctly. Just dont let him advance on you, keep him at a distance and throw various speed sonic booms.

Against sagat... if you are playing someone who is of the same skill level as you, well good luck! Sagat strong kick will knock you off the air and double hit you... usually fadc you into ultra at that point. Its a very very hard match up... lost 10 times against one guy the other day. Mad combos and fadc all the time. You cannot jump in against sagat, all you can do is sonic boom, zone him and poke at him with back fierce... its going to be a long battle. This match up is terrible for guile players, a true uphill battle... if the guy is a scrub np... a good guile will own his ass in a second. But an uber sagat... well good luck man!

Edit : One thing you can try is fadc his fireballs and try to poke him with a back fierce punch and punish ultra wifs with your own ultra. You could also try to fadc through fireball to ultra... but the execution is too hard, personally I can't pull it off. I saw some guy do it at a tourney, but its rare people use that. Its only use is to let you go through fireball and punish with ultra, but you have to be split second precise and the execution difficulty is way up there!

I'm glad to hear that you think it's a good controller since I'm very interested in it. Would you happen to know if it'll come out next month like it will in Japan or will it be closer to or after the release of SSF4?

I'm not sure when it will come out in the US. I don't think that has been finalized/decided on yet.

Wonder how many scrubs do that online? Sometimes some people have 0 defense but awesome combos... makes me wonder now!

I'm so afraid to keep using my A button right now, so I'm going to stop playing Bison until my stick comes. Instead, I'll continue my Balrog match-up training and such. I made it to the G1 Championship, but lost to a very scrubby Blanka player. :(

The Rose transcript is up in case anyone wants to read up on any of the combos. Most of the questions should be answered there but in case anything's still confusing, please don't hesitate to ask.

Unless you're asking about tool-assistance. So tired of explaining that shit. The Akuma setup took two days to iron out and then it took 30 tries just to record it. It does not work "perfectly every time just by pressing a key."

Watch out, they must be a fighting game gangs now. They're spreading like wild fire. Watch out farms, you'll have to get beat in first. That means your main will get double perfected by each gang member, pretty brutal I must admit. And a friend of mine was jumped by a group 3 days ago. He had to endure playing on a Xbox pad while being beaten by a Dan. Watch out for these guys, they're mean mean people.

Um... jchensor and NKI are usually there. I usually see sicdic, gilley, Goryus, laugh, Dj-B13, and tragic there too.

Magnetro has been there the past couple of years but he might not go this year. Mike Z and MegamanDS are usually there.

Kamui and ShinjiGohan told me they went last year ... after we got back ...

I dunno, i kind of know everyone by now so it's just a matter of who goes (and isn't shy).

But i really need to get the timing on his cr. HP right, man people love to jump at me, specially Blankas and Bisons.

I also need to learn to never ever use cr. LK, it just looks like Ryu's cr.MK.

I missed Family Guy and American Dad because I was DETERMINED to win in Championship Mode today. :lol

1st: Runner-up
2nd: Runner-up
3rd: Runner-up *angry*
4th: Champion :D
5th: Champion
6th: 1st Round (beaten by none other than a fucking Sagat -_-)

I got into the semis after beating an Abel--my last match after I retired for the night. I dunno what happened but online can get really screwy. There was no sign of lag.......buuuuuuutttt, I crumbled him with a FA, immediately did Ultra and it MISSED (I was Fuerte, btw)! After I missed (and he recovered), he did that elbow thing on me to send me airborne, started his Ultra, and he missed, too :lol In a perfect world, both of our Ultras would have landed, but whatever. It was poetic justice on my end :)

And I've been G2-D for a long ass God damn time. When am I gonna move up???? I don't play much Championship, but still! =p

Ok, nevermind, was looking through Ibuki's 3S combos today and noticed SJC in some of them. I wonder if they'll leave that behind, though.

Apparently they did leave some of them in, Boy of Joy on SRK says that she has her lp ~ mp ~ hp chain to U-II, I think.

Probably not the exact same ones, but they're in there.

Thinking I'll probably give Ibuki a good effort once this drops since I'm already pretty decent with Viper's super jump shenanigans.

If it's anything like Viper's sjc into ultra though, it'll cause the ultra damage to be scaled pretty hardcore.

Also, I might make it out west to for Evo this year too. Got a decent chunk of cash in the bank atm and a road trip sounds nice right about now.

Great games with AZ Greg, your Dhalsim is really good and I could only get in with characters with armor moves and variable speed jumps (or in Honda's case, half your life with a single correct guess). The only fault I can see is an over-reliance of throws when things get close up, which let me get punish some throw whiffs. Your Vega is as good as always. GG.

GGs.

Yeah, I still need to work on my Dhalsim close game. Just picked him up recently and am still ironing out a lot of things. I really need to use his back dash more, but that's something I rarely if ever use when I play as Vega or some of my other secondaries. Also need to figure out a way to deal with Balrog as he's a pain in the ass for my Dhalsim. Not sure if I'm approaching the match wrong of it's just one of his bad match-ups. The Vega matches were frustrating since you have a style that really hurts my play. I tend to be pretty offensive with him, probably to a fault, and you were playing against him pretty defensively which generally leads to me eventually eating a stray headbutt, Rufus target combo to ultra, etc... Really need to learn to sit on life leads (and not throw out ex sky high claws when you have ultra with Abel :lol).

I'm probably gonna hit up EVO this year too. No excuse with it only being about a 4-5 hour drive from where I live. GO GO GAF meet-up!

I used to have a lot of trouble with that matchup (and sometimes still do) until I started to:

1) Punish jump-in attacks with a trip guard (forward slide to throw or roundhouse slide) or with fierce super. Boxer's jump in attacks are kinda hard to anti-air with Dhalsim's standing normals without trading.

2) Counter dash punches with super or ultra on reaction. It helps to buffer in a qcfx2 after every limb poke or fireball just in case. Don't get trigger happy, though...

3) Counter EX dash punches with a throw.

4) Not throw out random ultras since the animation is long enough that Boxer has an easy time charging for a headbutt that goes right through your Yoga Catastrophe and then ruins your day.

Crouching strong also helps as a trip guard and to stuff dash punches as well.

this is what still prevents me from mastering the Boxer matchup. Whenever he does an ex dash punch, my natural reaction is to freeze up and block :-(

Thanks for this. I never knew you could throw Balrog out of all his EX dash punches. Figured that only worked on the overhead smash. That should really come in handy. :)

Also getting more comfortable with the Chun match-up, well, at least against some of the random ones I've played over the last couple of days. Yoga Tower works wonders when you have her zoned to that area where your opponent wants to use hazanshou/cr.RH. You generally get a free punish if she uses the hazanshou or can reset your spacing if she whiffs the cr.RH. I've also found that rather than trying to AA her with b.RH or b.MP using st.RH right before she hits you will beat her j.HK and trade in Sim's favor if she uses and times j.HP right.

Edit: No plans today and the weather is bad :(. Hit me up on XBL if anyone wants some matches.

How does Dhalsim's supers change by picking fierce?

Has more invincibility frames on startup. Recovers a bit slower, too compared to LP Super

Yeah, fp super is better as an anti-air due to the invincibility frames. It's also okay when you're using the super as a counter and hoping to god that the invincibility frames will keep you safe. Occasionally useful as a desperation move when Sim is nearly dead.

It has slightly longer duration too, I think. The problem with fp super is that it has horrible recovery.

On wakeup or in a situation when there is a good chance your opponent might block the super, lp Yoga Inferno is a better choice since the recovery is quick.

For example, when fighting Akuma, Akuma can punish a blocked fp super with a demon. He can't demon punish lp super.
