Gonzaga continuing for so long with a broken nose was incredible but for Couture to continue with a broken arm as well is just amazing. I have always respected Couture a lot but Gonzaga really impressed me in that fight. I always thought he was decent but he only really seemed to be hyped up once he was given a title shot (as if the UFC was trying to legitimise him as a title contender). But he proved beyond any doubt that he deserved a title shot and, IMO, fully deserves a rematch after a few more fights

I thought UFC 74 was great btw. Lots of good matches, an excellent lineup, and some excellent action
Gotta agree with that, although ill add that Babalu's beatdown of Heath should of been shown on the PPV because it was so brutal, and because the anaconda choke is fucking awesome submission.

Honestly, Gonzaga while getting his ass handed to him did manage to impress me with his heart. Definately not a one hit wonder.

why the fuck didn't they at least have a doctor check it out in the heath fight??? He lost blood like he had gotten shot.

This is from Josh Barnett's Myspace....

Let's get straight to it and say that Randy did a phenomenal job at UFC 74 in defending his title. As a fan and a fellow Washingtonian I was happy to see him win. But as for the title itself -- it still sits in my house. No one in UFC ever beat me for it, and as far as I am concerned, no one in the UFC can be the heavyweight champion until they take that belt off of me in the cage.

At the post fight press conference, Dana White said "there isn't anyone in the world that can beat this guy" in reference to Randy. All this because Randy beat a guy that had less than ten fights and only one noteworthy win? That's not even a world championship level fight, let alone reason to proclaim the winner as "unbeatable". This comment was made even more ridiculous by the fact that I was standing right there, living proof that Randy Couture is definitely beatable.

"Unbeatable", Dana says. If he actually believes that, I'm more than willing to step into the cage and prove him wrong. It wouldn't even have to be for the belt. I already got the real belt. They can keep their pile of brass they purport as the UFC Heavyweight Title and put it on their next paper champ."

Sign em up, Dana!

What do you guys think about PRIDE? Do fighters sign with PRIDE or with UFC? Can they fight in both? Who has the better quality fighters?

The UFC bought PRIDE.. and it appears theyre just going to let it die because they can't get a tv deal for it in Japan. The UFC is clearly home to the best fighters now. K1 and EliteXC have picked up some scraps.. but the UFC is where its at right now.

I'd be happy to see Randy take his revenge. ;)

Vera's wants his title shot soon too. His breakdown against Randy is pretty good imo. Good interview overall since he just trained with Kongo and Rampage and gives input on their fights (although he forgot Tim got subbed by Andrei).

BV: No. The Heavyweight division is stacked. I still think when I'm fighting Tim Sylvia October 20th at 77, if I finish Tim, I will ask for a title shot. Whether they give it to me or not, it's up to them. But nobody's finished Tim, even Randy didn't finish Tim in five. If I get the chance to finish Tim in three, I'm going to ask for one.
...
BV: Randy would be almost a dead even match, I think. Our clinch style is the same, but different at the same time. I like knees and elbows, he likes using his hands and dirty boxing, a lot more Greco. We're both from a Greco background. Randy used to be able to throw me back in the day. In the stand up, I think I own the stand up, but on the ground, he nullifies my Jiu Jitsu because of his ground and pound. His hips are so good. I don't think it'd be a boring match on the ground. I would be excited to have that fight and nervous at the same time.

Please Dana or whoever is in charge of doing this in the UFC, sign Barnett and Fedor before the end of the year. The best in the world should be in the same organization. As for Barnett's comments, I agree with him, I think he would beat Randy. Same goes for Fedor, Minotauro, and Cro Cop(despite what happened in his last fight).
