Wait, people thought Makoto was a guy? These the same people who thought Ash Crimson was a girl? Oi vey GAF.

Where do Legs (Chun), Ass (Cammy), School Girl Ninja and Boobs (Rose) go back to TToB?

I'm not 100% misogynist! Just 99%!

I don't mind women in fighting games, just little girls. LITTLE GIRLS STAY OUT! >:|

Or add annoying little boys to be equally retarded and to appeal to the female pedophile demographic. Annoy me equally if you're going to annoy me!

Then again that ninja kid in Garou was pretty rad. Although he wasn't being a boywhore like Sakura.

Makoto never looked like a guy.

Ash, however, does look like a chick.
Really?
I could understand Shion though.

Ash isn't female?

But... I have posters!
You could look for some fanfics about Ash and Shen... he is a boy.

Not yet, no. Assume that'll come out after release.
Still a little sad that the bonus for having SF4 is just another color...granted the real bonus for buying sf4 is getting Super in the first place, but when they mention a special surprise it should be something good.

God no please...at least not in SF.

Seriously this shit tempting! I already have my PS2 stick that I can use on 360 and Wii/GC, but I want that SE for 360 (or maybe PS3 so I won't have to buy yet another converter)! That price is gold!
cooler heads prevailed in the end. i have more sticks than i know what to do with.

Very nice to see the good news from the announcement at Nationals :)

I found out as I landed back in Texas Sunday morning from vacation . . . what a nice way to be greeted home! I'll update as I find out more about the arcade version of SSF4 (availability, pricing, etc.) but as of now, all that's known is that it's coming.

Most operators believe that Capcom is aiming for a lower price for the arcade version by releasing it a few months AFTER the console version. If I had money on it, I'd say late July/early August is when we'll see the game in arcades. My gut is saying that they want it out by then so they can include it in SBO as a "Category C" game like KOF13 with an exhibition-style event, keeping vanilla SF4 as the main event and last hurrah for the original version.

Like SF4, Arcade SSF4 will probably be released only in Japan so Western arcades will have to import it. If I had to guess, I'd say they're going to release it as a Taito Type X2 upgrade to keep the cost minimal both for them and for the arcades. There isn't much need to worry about piracy since it's coming out after the console version, and the price will probably be relatively low. As long as it doesn't get cracked/dumped in the first few weeks, their mission is pretty much accomplished since their allotment will be sold by then. I'd be really surprised to see different hardware used, but you never know--Capcom is full of surprises.

I've also got my fingers crossed for an offline mode for the data cards like in Tekken--it would really rock to have BP battles stateside!

You've already got stupid annoying lolis.

I think Sean is the closest we've got thus far in SF universe.

Add Ken's son! ZOMG! STORY CANON! </SFnerdhat> :lol :lol :lol

All the Gundam Wing / Seed / Manwhore fangirls will come running! :lol

Yeah i guess that the best move is to have a software only upgrade and new cabinets.

Dude, you already own like a ton of high quality, classy sticks. Why would you even think about getting low quality, tacky sticks?

Makoto is a fine example of little girl in fighting game done right. Rarity indeed, but at the very least she doesn't overtly appeal to Japans, and by association Americas, pedophile crowd.

I concur. Makoto (and Ibuki) are amongst my favorite two female designs in fighting games because they aren't overly sexualized.

They have dignity.

In an ideal world, we'd welcome Bao back to the KOF roster ;p

But that's for another thread. Nothing on the Project Justice folk?

Except girl Abel wasn't girl Abel. It was Bridget Abel.

nah, girl abel concept (abelle?) is a girl
it was a bad translation that led to the original confusion
iirc "girl you might mistake for a judo practitioner" became "judo practitioner you might mistake for a girl" or something

i've been pissing my buddies off with Abel a lot lately and really prefer the female design over the male. love the idea of a small unsuspecting character cr.HP to BOOM

If that's supposed to be a boy, the bandages make absolutely no sense. A guy wouldn't wrap up like that.

Well, for a cheap base, I can see why it'd be attractive to mod.

If I had the inclination, I'd work with bigger arcade sticks, though. More room for art. I hate art that's just superimposed on the arcade stick without regards to button and stick placement.

But his shtick was fooling people into believing he's a girl, so they'd go easy on him.

Big sticks are such a hassle to carry around to tourneys and such. I really like the smaller footprint of an SE!
But the stock art does suck, yessiree

So are the Mad Catz SE Fightsticks a bad buy? I can grab one for 90 bucks (CDN) but I've heard that they have issues with the joystick not registering your moves. I want a stick but I can't bring myself to pay $190 (CDN) for one.

In general its pretty hard to find arcade sticks in Canada btw.

the TE sticks are on sale right now [in america at least]. there's also the hori real arcade pro stick, it's in between the SE and TE in terms of quality and price.

no use for us Canadians :(... only stick at my local EB Games is the MvC2 TE stick which is $190. There is another store called Tiger Direct which has the SF4 SEs and TEs but they are $90 and $190. Any other store doesn't carry them. Even most EB's don't have sticks, just happens that my local one has a few left.

Just got back from Frys... exchanged my SSF4 TE S stick.

It had some moving parts on the inside :(

They had a nice pallet full of the new sticks - They are still $150.00 but I had a friend use an employee discount to get it for $120.00

I wish I had a CC so I could pick up one of those 360 sticks =( I really want a stick for my shmups since they all seem to be on the 360 and not the console I bought a stick for (<3333 my ps3)

Do good fight-sticks REALLY cost that much to make? I'm not gonna claim price-gouging, but goddamn that is a big amount of money.

"With Abel, we wanted to make someone representative of 'the weak can beat the strong,' and so he was originally a small judo character who could be mistaken for a girl."

Sorry dude, the Japanese strike again.

The TE sticks use the same parts as the SFIV arcade units. the parts are very high quality and will last a long time. there are always cheaper alternatives, SE stick is dirt cheap on amazon

Okay I see a Hori Fightstick (EX2) at Tiger Direct for $65 (CDN). Any opinions on it?
some people have a fine time with it, but my experience (as well as a few others on GAF like DaCocoBrova) have been negative.
The PCB is pretty crap, after a while buttons start failing to register in pairs.
The stock components aren't great either. Below FSSE quality and harder to replace the parts because they're soldered directly to the circuit board.

It's a good beginner stick. The only thing is, whereas, the parts in the Fighstick SE can be replaced with higher quality Sanwa or Seimitsu, you're pretty much stuck in the water, unless you're good with electronics and modding.

jon bones said:
awful stick... i sold it after 2 weeks

It's not so bad. It's light. It has a six-button layout. It has decent performance. But having said that, I wouldn't buy it over the Fighstick SE, especially with the dirt-cheap prices right now (either <$50 on Amazon) or the buy.com sale going on right now. But alas, this is in the U.S. not anywhere else.

As I patiently wait to hear of any positive Gouken changes, it's pretty much confirmed that Sagat's angry scar is the only new special move that any of the vanilla cast received right?
