How many hours have you played yet?
Cool, Uncharted style for replaysDifferent levels give you different outfits. There's a blacked out menu 'armoury' in pause menu. I think it unlocks after beating the game and it lets you change outfits and weapons on the fly.
Oh, you!That's what he said.![]()
Good to hear. Solid shooting, great atmosphere, and a good story are exactly what I was hoping for from this game. Sounds like it delivers.
Stop with the game lenght already...
Oh, you!
Stop with the game lenght already...
It's crazy how many people get obsessed with that.
"How long is the new pixar film!? Is it 1hr32 or 1hr45?!" "How many pages was the book!? 865 or 1020!?"
I mean I understand it, but it's so unique to gaming.

Films and books don't cost $60.
Oh come on what a terrible comparisonThat's a good point. All movies cost the same price and I don't hear people worried about it not being worth their money if it's short.

I think you can do that with touchpad and *maybe* you need to enable that in the options. I've read somewhere that it's called camera bias or something along those lines maybe.no, you can't even use L3 button the switch aiming directions which is REALLY annoying.
Books and movies have nowhere near the same level of interactivity. If I could control my character in a book or movie, I would glady pay $60 to read or watch it.Films and books don't cost $60.

Yea - must be a bitch after working on something for 5 years to spend your time dismissing nonsense rumous, mjeh.

Let's not equate animated film length with game length, it's not similar at all. Period. The film industry is different from the game industry and the act of watching a film in a theater is very different from playing a game at home, it's a blatant strawman. It's crazy how many people get obsessed with that.

If you are trying to gague how long it is because of that rumour about it taking so long after that one guy got his first trophy to completion... that guys first trophy was x number of headshots with blackwater. That could take many different people many different amounts of time to complete. Also different people might unlock different trophies in different order. Not the best way to gague the games length.
Just incase thats why you were wondering that.
Especially considering the price differenceLet's not equate animated film length with game length, it's not similar at all. Period.

Ha things sound so good so farI think I beat a bit more than half the game. No spoilers ahead.
The more I play the more I enjoy it.
RAD really did put their best into the game.
I really hope game sells well and they make a sequel already lol.
And I also hope Sony would buy the studio.
The only thing that bugs me through the whole game is quite different key-prompts.
Here's what I mean. There are QTE-like moments, like fistfights, and you have
to look at the enemy or an item to use it. And it feels stupid to me that you have to
drag the right stick through half the screen only to release it in order to press triangle or any
other button. I dunno why, but it irritates me. Guess it's because I died a few times
during these.
And another example is sometimes I cannot remember the right keys to use. An example:
when you climb over covers or lift yourseft or jump from ledges you use X button. But you have to use Triangle button to use the ladders. This seems odd to me to be honest.
So all in all the game is QUITE exellent right now and I liked a lot some of the plot twists already. They were never mentioned anywhere and so I wont spoil anything either.
Feel free to ask questions![]()
btw during the rain the game looks SO much better. I have to keep myself from just staring at things to continue playing the game.
Because it's a strawman, we have different expectations for the length of a movie and the length of a film or a book. It's not like you're comparing different fast food restaurant portions, you're comparing three entirely different mediums that have little to do with each other in terms of pricing and average length in an attempt to quell all worries and/or criticisms about the length of a game you're hyped for. It's ridiculous. The length of a movie here is entirely irrelevant because the most common expectation and run time for a movie is an hour and 30 minutes, you pay $8, go in, sit down in the theater for that length of time to watch a story, and then leave, playing a game is entirely different from this, there are different expectations for length compared to how much it cost and an expectation for a certain level of interactivity. Films=/=games. People don't care about the length of a book or movie because the majority of books and movies don't cost nearly as much as a games and unlike games there is way way less variety in the length of films than there are in games aside from a few minutes of run time and the small amount of exceptions. How is it not similar?
If we gauge a game's value based on the amount of time it takes to finish weighed against the cost, why is another form of entertainment, like a movie (which also has a finite length and a cost), such a bad comparison?
You also have a few people saying 10-12 hours. Are they suddenly irrelevant?it isnt one guy, its 10 guys, there are 10 to look at and you can judge most of them, they all did it in 1 to 3 days. Most in 2.
so if a few people said 1 hour or 2 hours to first trophy etc you can actually draw rough conclusions.

You answered your own question. Do you wanna pay $60 bucks for a game that is considered short for gaming standards? It's an expensive time to be a gamer. I understand where you come from in regards of quality and enjoying the game regardless of length but people don't have money trees to be spending $60 bucks without worrying and questioning what they are getting... Also, it seems people are bullet proofing The Order from any valid criticism. I honestly expect the game to do well and be great but the concerns are there and all I see here is comments like, don't talk shit about my game or its going to be awesome no matter what...Yeah I don't get it.
We'll pay $15 to see a 90 minute movie once at the theatre but $60 for something 5 x longer and we can own and replay forever is questionable.
ThanxI can't say the exact amount. Something like 6-8 hours with breaks and cheking gaf.
game lenght spoilers may be ?
i heard there are 18 chapters and im on 11th now. that said they are quite different.
one chapter can be almost only cinematics and no gameplay and others take like an hour to finish
It's an odd discussion point to bring up because the two mediums he compared the games to are not comparable at all to games when it comes to the discussion of length.Yea that's not what he's doing - he's simply interested in the discussion.

My prediction is 5 out of 10.
Thing is we've gotten multiple reports of the game being 10 hours (give or take) which seems like a wholly uncontroversial time frame for a game of this sort. The guy's trophy list that was originally the start of the rumors even said it was well over the 5 hours people inferred. The length question just keeps coming up even though we have lots of answers. You answered your own question. Do you wanna pay $60 bucks for a game that is considered short for gaming standards? I wonder how many media outlets would give it a low score just to get the clicks and rile up PS fans >![]()
I get where you're coming from and think the comparison was spot on.1. My argument is not specific to this game, it's something that I've believed for a long time (that the metric by which game "value" is determined is questionable). I made a thread about it last year http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=859927
2. I'm not comparing the value of games to movies directly, of course they are wildly different. I'm saying they're both forms of entertainment meant for our consumption and I personally find it strange that people will obsess about the length of one (games) and not another. And movies also vary wildly in length, from 1.5 to 3 hours, which means some are twice as long as others. Yet no one is shopping for blu rays and checking the runtime on the back of the box.
But it's clear that you and I disagree and neither of our minds will be changed so I don't think there's anything to be achieved from discussing it further.
I disagree on comparing films length and game length and associating the costs when both are wildly different and have completely different pricing because they're two completely different industries.1. my nucca...A similar thing happened to a mate of mine in high school. Rumours spread of his dong being... well below average and no matter how many of us assured people that it wasn't that small the teasing wouldn't stop. The only way it stopped when he dropped his pants in the cafeteria for all to see.
The moral of the story - eh... Not sure, play the game I guess?

Yet all three are all forms of entertainment. They can, IMO at the basic level be compared.I disagree on comparing films length and game length and associating the costs when both are wildly different and have completely different pricing because they're two completely different industries.
In testing, if people turned it on by mistake, they didn't understand what happened, and couldn't figure out how to change it without instruction. That can be much more frustrating than not being able to change it at all.

Not sure if it was ever $60, I bought mines for $40. But yeah, game is definitely short once you remember even some of the puzzles. And one of my all time favorites as well. Liked it better than SotC.Was ICO $60 at launch? Because that is one of my favorite games of all times and can be easily finished in less than 4 hours. A game's value shouldn't come from how long it is.
