The Outer Worlds 2 is $80 (via Steam Page)

some games are guaranteed flops at 80$ and this is one of then. and it's not because it's bad. It's just not an 80$ game.

Is the first one that bad? I think I have both versions of it (for free), haven't played much but it seemed OK.
The first game is essentially a sandwich, except it removes everything that makes a sandwich great, besides like the one slice of tomato.

so you want a sandwich but all you get is a singular slice of tomato. That is the quality of the Outer worlds in a nutshell.

Every major developer was waiting for someone to pop the $80 Kork. Nintendo did it as they don't give a fuck about optics.
I am interested in how much GTAVI will cost, I am guessing they won't go beyond 80.
The CEO of T2 floated $100 around as a price point games should cost in an interview months ago.

And I can actually see them trying this with GTA 6.

Just like the push for $70 games, mtx/gaas, boxed copies with only a digital code etc.... here's your chance to fight back gamers. Stick it to the man and dont buy $80 games.

Or just do what always happens. A lot of complaining on social media and forums, but always cave in and go with the flow where $80 games will become standard.

Your choice.

I can't recall; Didn't Avowed sell poorly at $70 despite getting praised by critics? What in the world makes them The Outer Worlds 2 is worth $80?

Have places learned nothing from recent $50 games? This should be a $50 game, and it would probably sell decently at that point. At $80, most people will either do a one month game pass sub or they'll wait for a deep sale later in the year.

It's not worth $80.

But since one company took the plunge with $80, it then comes down to who and when the other companies will follow. And Outer Worlds 2 is one of them next in line.

Ouch. I played the first one for $20-$30, and I found it very underwhelming. I finished it feeling as if I'd pretty much wasted my time. It was one of those "in one ear and out the other" type games. This one seems to have the same DNA - same character models, same anti-capitalist messaging (while charging $80), same ironic "humor" - so I don't have much hope for it. It does have improved combat, though, which is a plus.

Ridiculous pricing.

On top of that, I also played the first one and I have no interest in a sequel.
The first one, in its mechanics, wasn't terrible, but it was way too small and short, it felt like mini fallout, both in lenght and scale, too small to get really involved in the lore and rpg elements.
This they can be improved in a sequel, but the main reason I'm not interested in a new game, if it's the same people and mentality involved in the project, is the whole... "woke" aspect.

Yes, come at me with "anyone who uses woke unironically can't be taken seriously" or whatever, but I have no other words to describe it. Everything in this game felt ridiculous, predictible, in your face. All the female characters looked like the same caricature, all with the same annoying personnality, and it can even spoil you, you can guess if a character will be hero or villain based on its look :messenger_grinning_sweat: It just felt like a parody, and you could felt that in many aspects of the game, from the visual to the writing, it felt cheap, lame. When the first game was so impacted by this, I struggle to have much hopes in a new game, because they showed they weren't making a game with good intentions.

It would be good to be proven wrong, but it will be hard for me to overcome how bad the direction was in the first game.

But even in the rest of it, the game was very underwhelming, it lacked a lot of things, and it was very forgettable.

90% of my current library consists of indie- and classic games, which are cheap and better (for me) than Outer Worlds or Forza.

Good coincidence!

GOOD.

It's high time the US paid their fair share like the rest of the world has been paying for a long time.

I hope GTA increases it to a 100 but I doubt take two has the guts to take the backlash for their biggest game. But developers will have the CHOICE to make their games as big as possible and charge what they want and this will result in more variable pricing rather than the 'charge 60 for everything' in the ps3 gen.

I suspect Sony will increase it to 90 when the next gen starts.

I hope big budget games without microtransactions/live service can become viable again.

Yes, this game will flop sales wise but Call of duty is next month.

In the UK its 69.99 and games have been that price since the start of the gen. What's this all about ?

Black Ops 7 will be $80 and still have microtransactions.

Any day one hype, which i certainly don't have for this game, is gone with the 80 dollar/euro price tags. I rarely had any hype last couple of years anyway. As domost i have so much to play i can wait months or years before buying the complete and patched versions of these 80 dollar/euro games. This will be a 10 bucks buy if it's any good. Or it will be free on Epic like the first one.
