The Outer Worlds 2 is $80 (via Steam Page)

I am surprised they even greenlit it....
woke toxic positivity at work? First game was widely unpopular.
chatgpt tells me outer wilds sold 2,5mil copies not counting gamepass.

not like this GIF

Devs that try to sell their games for $80, and aren't amazing, are gonna get crushed on the socials, and PR ain't gonna save them. Outer World 2 better be way ahead of the original, or Obsidian is gonna get rolled yet again.

Call of Duty could get away with this pricing, but this just feels like straight up wanting to fail meeting the sales expectations

Outer Worlds 1 and now 2 are both mediocre games.

80$ is a great move. MS just ensured anyone interested will get it on XGP else pony up 80$ !!
Good that trailer showcase none of the interaction of NPCs, game calling itself an RPG the narration and dialogues are plain bad.

Is the first one that bad? I think I have both versions of it (for free), haven't played much but it seemed OK.

... Why would you kick off $80 pricing with Outer Worlds 2 when you have Call of Duty right around the corner?

Even Nintendo was smart enough to sell Donkey Kong for $70 and use their biggest franchise to try to normalize the $80 price tag.

Even setting aside the consumer outrage angle, this seems ... dumb?

This sucks because I am a big fan of the original game. I will not buy it out of principle alone. I can wait a few months and find a steam/other platform pc key for around $30 instead.

Most of these games have terrible launches, usually needing multiple patches. Especially these big open world games.

The price increase will make people more picky when it comes to deciding to buy a game day one. Idk what they are thinking …

I have been buying games day one less and less over the years because it don't make sense to pay the highest price and get a mediocre game when waiting gets you a more updated game at a lower price.

These guys had to crowdfund their last great RPGs and now they are releasing this mediocre RPG series and survival games for kids. RIP Obsidian (2003-2018)

A game making fun of capitalism made by woke social justice warriors selling for $80, lol. You can't make this sh*t up. What a bunch of clowns, both Microsoft and the devs.

They really overestimate how much people are willing to pay to play this game.
Sales for this game will be dead on arrival. And most will play it on Gamepass for a faction of those 80$.

I like the usual MS cheerleaders going on about pro consumer GamePass and good guy Phil / pro consumer MS suggesting that MS's strategy is to buy publishers and put all games at absurd prices to force users to subscribe into GamePass… and their advice / commentary here is "hey play it on GamePass".

Chickens cheering for KFC it is 😂… or astroturfers well astroturfing ;).

I thought it looked cool from what I saw, but I never played the first one. Regardless $80 bucks is a lot and I'd rather spend that $80 on the next Steam Summer Sale and get like 6-8 bangers on my wishlist.

They are steering you towards Gamepass.
Yep, that's exactly their gameplan.

Since gamepass renting value proposition sucks ass, their only way to make it seem less awful is to jack up the price of ownership.

That's exactly why renting needs to die.
