Jesus, how come it's been so long since I've been in this thread? Have some catching up to do!
I can't imagine WCS is that difficult for licensing.
I'm thinking FIFA.
Ugh I've been bitten by the pinball bug and want to start saving for a machine.
What's a decent entry-level price point machine that's actually pretty good? Some machines I really enjoy playing are Scared Stiff, White Water, High Roller, and RBION but I feel like those are a bit out of reach for someone who doesn't have a massive budget (or, at least, won't have one for a while).
Been hearing rumblings of machines like Johnny Mnemonic, Shadow, or Demolition Man but I don't know a lot about these tables. Please advise!
What's your budget? Scared Stiff and White Water will set you back a decent amount (I think around $4k is the going rate for each in the US), High Roller Casino should be cheaper and I think RBION is experiencing a bit of a resurgence. As for the others you mentioned, I think they're $2500-$3k for REALLY nice examples. They go for more here in Australia so I can't give you any idea about local prices, but they'll definitely be cheaper (on average) than the first ones you listed.
If your budget is $1000-1500ish, I'd look at getting an early-mid 80s Bally/Williams machine. I love my High Speed and Pinbot would be a solid choice too.
No, they both just really dig it and think licensing would be "super cheap" and that its a good table. Trust me, Norm has way more out there choices of his own.
Also, the next table is what we all know
Not that I'm looking for insider info, but do you know what he'd like to see in there as an example? Was the name Rollergames mentioned in any context?
I don't think I've ever played Rescue 911... or if I have, it would've been back in the 90s. Having a look at pics though, it has those Gottlieb flippers that I never really liked the feel of. But I'm sure they'd feel better in TPA than IRL!
Well, High Speed II was pretty high on my wish list, pun intended, so...
Good man. Though I think something's lost in translation with his tables to TPA, you just can't get that flow that you feel on a real machine designed by him
Man, walked around today with Norman and we checked out tables and had some really cool talk. No insider info, but i can tell you, we are both big fans of Space Station!
If any of you are near Pittsburgh, its worth coming out to this event. The amount of tables is staggering. Lots of time logged in with High Speed, Attack From Mars, World Cup Soccer, Godzilla (I Like it anyways), Fire, Escape From The Lost World, and that barely scratches the surface.
I loved watching Godzilla on a stream some time ago. Can't remember what it was for, but it was a fun looking machine. Glad you dig High Speed as well, there's something in playing a real one that doesn't get captured in TPA.
ReplayFX looks incredible but that Pinburgh tournament format sounds grueling as hell. Two 14 hour days of pinball to qualify just to do it a third time? That's a test of will and skill!
Somewhat related for those of us that can't make it, the PAPA finals stream starts around 5pm est today
I'd love to try and go next year. I have a hunch it'll be a PITA to get a ticket, but the journey would be worth it, no matter how exhausted I'd get.
I got word from my roommate that Elwin is finally coming out to the dory Hill campout in about a month. I didn't book a cabin in time so I'm going to bunk in my car. I should get some good pictures. It's always a blast.
Lucky bastard. I think you posted photos of that from last year, yeah? Or might've been someone else, but it looked like a rad event. Jealous.
There's a sale on steam - stumbled upon it by chance. 50% off Season 1 and 2.
Is Safecracker coming to Steam?
It's already out on Steam. At least, in the season pack.
