I just picked up the PS4 retail version at Toys R Us. They had it priced at $34.99.
No pro versions. Eleven different balls. There's a folder for Season 2 but it's currently greyed out.

Tables are:

Attack From Mars
Big Shot
Black Hole
Black Knight
Bride of Pin-bot
Cirqus Voltaire
Creature From The Black Lagoon in 3D
Elvira and the Party Monsters
Funhouse
Genie
Gorgar
Harley-Davidson
Medieval Madness
Monster Bash
No Good Gofers
Ripley's Belive It Or Not
Scared Stiff
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Tales of the Arabian Nights
Taxi
Theatre of Magic
The Twilight Zone

Room brightness defaults to neutral, but dark looks way better and is what I'm used to pinball looking like as most of my actual play was in sleazy-as-fuck settings.
Strange that they don't include "pro". And it sucks, because I would've hoped for it so I could disable family mode in Scared Stiff.

Keep us updated with how you find it! Your impressions will be appreciated by all in this thread, I think :)

I noticed that the Steam version has achievements for Fish Tales. Season 3 has to be coming soon.
Woo! Want that table/game. Can't wait to play it with the lightning flips.

Wait Pinball FX is out on PS4 this week too? I've been waiting until the PS4 releases of both games before diving into all the tables. Would be great news if true.

yes, and Zen Pinball 2 (Pinball FX) will be free for people with PS3/Vita versions.

I imagine you'll be able to upgrade to the Pro versions of the table packs still. Really, I'd be shocked if the retail version was any different at all from the version that's going on PSN tuesday, they're probably identical. Retail doesn't make much sense to me with TPA because of all the patches and new digital content it gets, it is more like a digital product sitting on a disc that will need to be upgraded / patched upon install quite a bit a year down the road vs like a platformer or RPG game that you just play and is always the same.

Edit: Comparing the tables listed above and the OP, the PS4 version includes the 22 Core Tables and Season One Table Packs as expected, which you'd get from buying solely Season One for $30 or $15 (at the discount price), so be careful not to overpay at retail.

Every game is a full install, so the amount and scope of patches doesn't make a difference either way.
Having an easily portable (and lendable) license for season one is easily worth the extra $5 to me. A lot of people have either bought PS4s or plan to after seeing mine. And getting the game early is nice too.
The disc will probably be a collector's item after the Kickstarter licenses expire. :p

That's true, I didn't think about the lending. To me it's like putting DOTA2 on a disc or something though, I'd rather just download the correct version than install an older one that needs patching. But you have a good point about being able to share it. And of course getting it a few days early is nice too I agree. You'll also have the advantage of never having to lose licensed tables like T2 if you're LTTP with the retail copy.

I'll probably dip for the PS4 retail as well, for the reasons you all stated. Hopefully there'll eventually be discs for subsequent seasons as well. I just prefer having physical releases -- mine to keep forever. =)

Really psyched for Tuesday. After the PS4 version the main things I'm waiting for are the new UI and the cabinet support (when that is in I'll buy into the PC platform).

So what would be the difference between the retail and digital?
I have ps plus so it looks like it comes out to about 25$ for the season 1 bundle, isnt that what is included with the retail version?

Yes, retail version seems to be the season 1 bundle (non-pro version), there should be no difference other than price between that and the psn version.

Thanks, really wanted the retail version but at a 15$ discount its hard to ignore the psn version.

The season three packs just appeared on steam

http://store.steampowered.com/app/268280/

only ten tables, so one per month seems right

Description gives away some of the tables, we know four of the ten from Season 3 so far now:

Fish Tales
Whodunnit
Junk Yard
Black Knight 2K

I know BK2K is a good catch, along with Fish Tales, but with those four tables, do people feel confident it could be the best season yet?

Also price is only $30 for the season, and $40 for the pro season pass. Guess the lower number of tables goes with a lower price.

Is this paid for only? Not free to download and then buy individual tables?

PSN version should be free to download with TotAN like all the others I'd guess, and Season / Table Pack / Pro upgrades available for purchase. But we'll find out soon enough.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Whodunnit™, Junk Yard™, and Black Knight 2K™ just to name a few!

I'll take it!

Black Knight 2K's music is hilariously awful.

I'm a bit puzzled--I would have thought High Speed/The Getaway would have been done by now. Is there some obscure licensing issue with those two?

Also, I need Red and Ted's.

Wait, they've listed all the games?

Only four: Fish Tales, Junk Yard, Black Knight 2K and Whodunnit. Do note that there's only ten tables in this pack, and that they've reduced the price of Season 2 on Steam down to $30 (bringing it in line with the PSN version).

Bow to your new god.

High Speed uses zero licensed stuff... the only music in it was written in-house. And for HS2, the only license they need is the one for La Grange (no idea how easy that would be to get... shouldn't be too difficult I'd imagine).

Also, I need Red and Ted's.
No more speak of Lawlor games until we get High Speed.

Damn, I really thought we would've gotten it by now:
* First game with a "story".
* First System 11 game
* First pinball to play a complete song.
* First Williams pinball game to use alpha-numeric displays.
* First use of Auto Percentaging (for replay scores).
* First Jackpot available only during multiball.
* 17,000 units made.

How we haven't heard anything about it, I really don't know.

I just noticed that on PAF forums. Are any actually available for download?

PS. 3/4 are DMD. Boo.

The good news for PS4 owners about Season 2 & 3 being up so soon on Steam after the game's recent release is that Season 2 & 3 for the PS4 should arrive rather quickly as well. My guess is that they will be caught up before the next Season 3 table releases.

that'd be nice, but I don't think I'll be bored of season 1 in the next two months, so they have time in my eyes.

I don't think so, I saw it written here that FarSight wasn't going to have Season 2 ready for the PS4 until the end of Q1 2014 at the earliest, there's probably a lot of work updating all the tables, and I can't imagine we'd see the DX11 upgrade on the PC until after all that's done as well, so probably Q2 or Q3 2014 for the PC upgrade when they're all caught up with the PS4.

Also, I wonder how the PS5 will handle PSN titles, if it'll be a repeat of what happened with the PS3, where your games don't carry forward again. Though that is quite a while's away, and more than likely outside of the lifespan of the product itself.

By then I would hope that they've fulfilled their promise of gaikai or a similar cloud streaming service providing the BC that fans crave on PSN/disc purchases.

IIRC, Mark Cerny said in a Japanese interview that cutting BC from PS4 was a painful decision and they didn't want to do it. But they had to in order to get on X86. If their attitude remains that way, there's hope that the X86 architecture will provide far more platform continuity moving forward.

I saw the disc version today at TRU. $39.99, they are also running promotion buying 2 Xbox One / PS4 games and get $20.00 back or buy one and get $5. (So the game is $34.99).

I'm also a little worried that I'm going to have to buy a PS4 before Farsight loses their license to tables like T2 so I can get the 'best' versions of the tables. I got what, 2 years?

You can just buy it through the PSN web site.
You can even claim PS+ instant library games there without a console.

Yeah I guess I could plop down $100 right now to buy a game I won't be able to play for 6-8 months.

$30-35 now. (download vs disc) And another $30 in a few months.

So we already know almost half of Season 3 already. 10 pins in 12 months could mean that a month or 2 can be reserved for Kickstarters. Can you imagine they release High Speed, then announce The Addams Family Kickstarter so that it can bask in the glory for longer than usual? I'd be all for that.

Oooooh new UI on Facebook -- looks much, much nicer! Love that we can see our high score, friends' high score, etc.

Play Random! Prominently featured Table of the Month! Quick play of last table, nice.

I was hoping for Black Knight 2000, and I wanted to play Junk Yard and Whodunnit, so that's all good.

I'm convinced that the Lamborghini imagery in High Speed and The Getaway are issues somehow.

Finally, this is the one they should go with (I've been saying they just should use the iOS app icons in a grid for a while now, since they are so identifiable). And let us arrange the tables in a custom order, please. Also have sort by date/manufacturer/a-z options.

A season isn't a calendar year though, it could be but in the past they've just been 10 months and then immediately begun the next season.

Will this be on psn midnight??

Also I have some tables for ps3 version, I suppose I don't get a 50% discount unless I have all season 1 tables?

Been waiting a long time to play Whodunnit. I think the mystery/casino theme sounds pretty cool. Never could find the real table anywhere.

I do hope we get Sorcerer and Jive Time, for completeness. A double table pack for both, if need be. Then I can toss my 360 Williams collection.

There's definitely at least one table (though it may have been two?) that isn't coming up from the Williams collection, so we won't be getting both. I think it was Jive Time they said is not being ported to TPA, maybe someone else remembers better.
