The Player 1 Podcast Topic

Personally I feel the best things to come out of the past couple of weeks of P1P is Stewy realizing he's better off not buying everything TT makes blindly day 1 and Mike's new much improved HD appearance.

I do find it a little odd though that CJ hadn't realized to disable (or open up) his NAT.

It's on/strict by default though. I'd gotten a new router between the time I last played a peer-to-peer online game. It was fine during the Titanfall beta, it was fine for some modes of PvZ. I had no reason to think the problem was on my end considering how many troubles online games have been having recently. If that was the culprit of why I couldn't party up with Sewart or turn on voice chat the system gave me no indication that the trouble was on my end or what it might be. *shrug*

Can we get a confirmation that Phil is playing South Park? I think I remember him commenting that he actually watches the show.

The amount of references to the show on the game is outstanding. I'm like 8 hours in and just absorbing everything. I have to disagree with my preference on eps with South Park. I enjoy the episodes in which they go on a crazy tangent or their take on things that kids did/thought on the past. Recently they have become very topical with their episodes and I feel that it has diminished the quality.

Given that this is so self referential and is just kids being kids playing D&D with lots of imagination is like this game was made for me.

Can I get some more info on how you fix a bad NAT on PS3/PS4? It's possible that I just need a new router/modem.

Where would dyeing my eyebrows rank with you?

That which does not exist cannot dye.

I'm not doubting you had serious issues with the Xbox One connectivity despite how loose your NAT was or wasn't. All I'm saying is that you seem like the tech savvy person who disables that shit the second that router is plugged in. I don't think I've personally had anything bout NAT-less bridged Internet access for the past 10 years. Never even a single problem with games :-) sogood.gif

It depends solely on the modem/router you are using. Some ISP provided modems might come with really strict settings and others might even have different Ethernet ports made free from such crap by factory default.

I think I got the WD2 season pass at a slight discount during a steam sale.

I haven't played any of it yet. Telltale win again.

I bet you they'll end up having to reconsider their current position in a year or so.

- TWD1 was GotY multiple times over but always due it its writing and now the main writers have left the studio. There's nowhere near enough positive buzz about TWD2 as there was for TWD1.

- People who got into TT through WTD (and other people as well, like Stewy) are now starting to find out exactly how silly of a purchase a game is when it is delivered through a year of gated access. Also sales hurt early adopters.

- New franchises being done by TT are questionable. Or maybe it's literally just me but Borderlands sounds like a complete miss. I'm a big fan of the Game of Thrones TV show but I'm having trouble envisioning a TT game that does the complexity of that show (and books) any justice.

- To this date TT hasn't made a single game or episode that didn't suffer from stupid bugs or performance issues. No one can ride the success train forever if the wheels keep falling off.

The reaction to season 2 of the Walking Dead seems a bit muted, but I can't really recall what it was like for the first season considering that I played all the episodes over the course of a week when the finale came out.

The wait between episodes is just too long. I don't know how they expect the game to maintain any sort of positive buzz when down time is more than long enough to allow the players to pretty much forget everything about the previous episode.

I didn't think the wait for TWD S2 was too bad compared to Wolf. I'm still enjoying them. Too many games to play between eps so it's not bad for me.

"Interesting," meaning, clearly, "positive."

Well it means that "all houses look the same" is kinda invalid when you have seen the show and can appreciate all the details.

Game is not perfect, but for someone that have seen every episode the game is way better than any license game deserves to be.

You would think they (router manufacturers) at this day and age would have a solution for online gaming other than port forwarding. Having more "open" ethernet ports would be nice.

I know there's uPNP, but that has a few security issues because they aren't properly implemented. I know I'm going to have fun opening more ports once I get a PS4 in the future.

The show is 22 minutes. The game is 10+ hours.

If only there had been a Dargon Age II television show, all those complaints about repeated dungeons would have disappeared!

Mike, this is for you:

"Titanfall goes one step beyond Call of Duty 4’s multiplayer by adding in a secondary layer to combat, one that forces players to constantly change their tactics and remain situationally aware. If you can turn your brain off and enjoy the carnage with like-minded friends, you might have the best experience of 2014 in your hands today. If you want something more from your video games or if you want to be transported to another dimension to learn the true role of an intergalactic soldier, you should probably hit the books. If Titanfall is representative of man’s aspirations, we’re going no where fast."

Gamerevolution Titanfall Review

I think Jeff on giantbomb said it best that the people freaking out about titanfall are probably the same people who turn up their noses at COD for no real reason. TF is a well done Multi FPS but we are not going to see copycats of anything to do with its intrinsic design. I'm still waiting for that origin sale though.

Funny you guys mentioned the Walking Dead S2 Ep 2's release timing stuff.

I didn't know about it at all till I saw Phil mention it on twitter, and when I inquired him about it he told me it came out the very same day lol

I was completely blindsided by it's release.

CJ and Phil will absolutely love the new Yoshi game. Edge should hire them.
I finished it a week or so ago for a review in @Gamer, so I totally know my opinion of it already.

Oh, same here. I found it it was being released that morning.

Go-Go dancing hasn't been relevant in 40 years. Doing it independently seems like the only option at this point. If this fella's boots are high enough, he may get some good exercise, at least. At best, Arch Hall, Jr. may ask him out for a ride on his homemade dune buggy.

Looking forward to hearing more South Park talk. I loved the first two days but the third day just dragged on and on. The ending was awesome though. The last two boss fights definitely were worth the day 3 slog.

What would they spoilercast though? It's not like there is really a story. It's just a series of vignettes. Not a lot to dig into. It would be "remember that joke?" "yeah that joke was great."

If Phil can do the spoilercast as Chris Farley interviewing CJ and Mik it would be completely worthwhile.
